This is a chronic problem with this series, but it hasn't really reached the level where it bothers me so much since the nen training arcs.

I would genuinely prefer Ging as the MC of this arc, because it will be related to ruins, exploration and hunting. Kurapika is playing sherlock holmes x Sasuke, Leorio has nothing to do with the whole theme of Hunters and he really had no business at all being in the Zodiacs, while Ging is obviously the should-have-been focus of this arc.
Not the shitty Troupe, not Kurapika's antics, not Leorio's bullshit, it's about traveling to and exploring a new continent - Beyond/Ging or bust.

We only know that the arena fight was some time between the latest chapter and the one before it. Chrollo clearly had an idea of what to infiltrate and that was only established in the few chapters before the fight.
The time skip was several days long and the very end with Hisoka on the hunt made the timing even more ambiguous. Days could have passed between his fight with Chrollo and Shalnark. But it probably won't be relevant on any level. It's pretty much just everyone packing their bags and making notes to prepare for shit.

Take the first 4-5 pages of this chapter for example. No one is going to be discussing the crowd cheering for the departure or care about them leaving on blimps to the boat, despite Togashi drawing that anyway.

Gon first and foremost was in denial about Kite's death, despite knowing it subconsciously, and had survivor's guilt. He didn't have anyone to talk to or who wanted to help him. Killua could have helped Gon by not enabling Gon's delusion, but he didn't because it was convenient to him. Having a mental breakdown while being traumatized isn't edgy.
Kurapika is different, he doesn't have survivor's guilt and has already had time to accept the death of his clan as well as rationalize his desire to kill the Ryodan, he's had time to think clearly. He also has people who do want what's best for him, and who put his mental state first.
The situations aren't very similar at all.
The only people who really call Kurapika edgy are Killuafags.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here. Do you mean to say that the revenge storyline is generic because it has been utilised so often in fiction before? If so, I believe that is countered by the fact that Togashi put an interesting twist (for a Shounen) on Kurapika's premise of revenge by levying him a genuine choice on the matter. Kurapika could have easily achieved his revenge already by killing Chrollo when he had the chance, but it would likely have been at the cost of Gon and Killua. He isn't so deeply driven by revenge that he is willing to sacrifice innocent lives for it.

He doesn't "just" use Chain Jail, though. He kept his Dowsing chain out the whole time to dupe Uvo into believing he was a Manipulator, which distracted him from his other chains, which in turn allowed Kurapika to easily utilise those other chains against Uvo. He also deliberately picked Uvo out to fight first because he was the physically strongest fighter in the Troupe. Him being unable to break out of Chain Jail proved that no other Spider would be able to either. There was a decent amount of strategy in that fight.
