The depth charge damage was accurate. It knocked out all of the sub's eyes and ears with hitting the tower but depth charges could only sink a sub if they scored a direct hit on some weak spot in most cases.

Close enough. Flooding in the control room would cause loss of control and the sub has a steep down angle in the shot where it gets hit. WW2 uboats were even sunk by rockets with heads made of metal hitting the control room. A depth charge going off does even more.

The first time marker we get is seeing the Sarushima getting the message that Harekaze was going to be late at 6am on April 7th. Given Nishinoshima's distance from Yokosuka and given a cruising speed of 18 knots, it would take about 28 hours of nonstop, incidentless sailing to get from Yokosuka to Nishinoshima. Given that most ships had already transited that distance by 6am on the 7th, I'm guessing that they exited Yokosuka at the latest on April 5th.As an aside, the first day of school is traditionally April 1st, though apparently if 4/1 is a Friday/Saturday/Sunday, the first day gets pushed back to the first Monday after 4/1. So the first day of school is anywhere between 4/1 and 4/4. It appears that they left immediately after the entrance ceremony, so that means that in order to miss the rendezvous time on April 7th, the Harekaze got MAJORLY lost and/or had MAJOR engine trouble off-screen.
The end of episode 3 appeared to be the morning or so of April 9th (last timestamp was 5:40am on April 9th a few hours after the battle against the sub). So it's been anywhere from 5-9 days since Mike and Mocha were last together.
As an aside, poor Maron-chan has been non-stop repairing those boilers pretty much that entire time. It started from an originally rated max speed of 37 knots and can now only limp along safely at a speed of 18 knots (prior to the sub battle). God knows how much the maneuvers against I-201 damaged it. Poor boilers. Poor Maron-chan. ;_;

It has a large amount of cast that has so far been poorly and improperly developed. I get what they were trying to do with Mike as the incompetent looking girl on the outside but turning in to a total badass when it counts, but she's just boring. Mike and Mashiro are the only ones that get development and the latter is an unlikable cunt who can only be likable when she does her swirl eyes face and blush fanservice. The rest of the characters get like 2 lines of dialogue and if this was a show you were watching straight and not a weekly they would all be forgettable.
Music is shit. The battle episodes are awkward because while they try to make it high tension they also put in awkward jokes making the balance between the two stupid. One second they're yelling about shells hitting them, the other second they're cracking jokes about Rin being jokingly s-s-s-scared and rice cookers. Said jokes which are incredibly unfunny as a note, especially Kouko's delusion jokes that are already old.
The show so far is relying on the whole mutiny mystery to keep watchers interested and trying to draw it out as much as possible. Which is poor taste, but I guess it's suckered me in. Other than that it's just another cute girls doing cute things mixed with cute girls shooting things.

I would love it if it was still lethal, I just don't see that happening unfortunately. Dead waifus and murderer waifus usually don't sell as well. You could make the enemy all monsters like Kancolle to remove the murderer bit but not the dying one.
I feel the only way it could happen is if Haifuri did it and still succeeded as a show anyway, proving that it can still sell.
