Just tried to watch this. Definitely above my level of Japanese, had a hard time following more than the basic gist of things. Hopefully some one will pick this up and sub it at a decent rate so I'm not forced to watch this at half-understanding.
Was this delayed a couple of years or something? I could understand the idol group concept back when idol groups were booming in Japan back in 2011-2012, Momoclo was becoming huge, Love Live was establishing, it looked like H!P might make some comeback, and of course AKB was at its strongest, etc. but nowadays it seems like the market is way oversaturated with generic idol groups for this to go over well at all.
Solo singers, or a duo, even a trio would have been a much better chance I think.

I read up a bit about Harmony Gold USA recently and it's really refreshing to know that they're utter scumbags to the core.
The president of the company, Frank Agrama, takes pride in the fact that he was able to screw over business partners for Shaka Zulu, for example, having his partners pay for everything and losing money and him reaping all the profits.
On top of that Agrama was nearly put in jail for tax evasion and embezzlement but was able to get away with it due to statute of limitations.
I'd imagine this is also why HG USA is just so utterly unethical about how they claimed copyright to so many things about Macross and the other shows they licensed. They just give no shits about anything they do and will go out of their way to screw people over as long as they manage to eke out a profit.

I know the guy was under pressure to squeeze these shows together to get it on air, and that Macross is the only one he really wanted, but wow these guys have had their egos inflated over the years. Yes, all they literally did in the end was sit down and rewrite the few bits that suited them for their chronology. Most of Robotech is the same thing as Macross, just with name edits where needed.
