Manjoume was more relevant than Reiji has ever been.
KGP is a filler arc and it was only 19 episodes at. Not a big deal.
Jack still had loads more screentime and relevance even if his character was reset.
Zexal took a bit of an interesting approach. Part 1 focused more on Kaito whereas part 2 was more about Shark. I honestly don't consider Kaito to be Yuma's rival, I think Shark fits that role a bit better. Shark was also decently relevant in part 1 too.

It was slow. And what it lacked in character interaction, it made up for in world building and introspection; which is what I wanted from synchro dimension. I didn't want another zexal where they just shove multiple worlds (astral/barian) into the show without actually explaining the world's view on things overall and their way of life. In this way, Synchro matched my hopes entirely; because we learned everything we needed to know about that city.
The duels weren't great, but yugioh duels since the end of 5ds haven't been particularly good; and it gave us some really fun ones here and there like yuya/shinji, yuzu/enjoy, sawatari/yugo, yuzu/sergey, yuya/crow, sora/tsukikage/oforce, yuya/jack II, reiji/roger

For the sake of establishing the separate dimensions as actual distinct worlds with people living in them instead of generic blue land/generic red land like Zexal pulled. Additionally, it gives a greater importance to the overall plot because we can now completely infer what would happen if the plan to unite the worlds was actually carried out; we can actually see the sort of chaos that would occur.

I never did because we didn't learn jack shit about the other worlds in Standard; the threat was vaguely touched upon but it was impossible to understand exactly how things would occur if the plan succeeded. All we knew during that arc was what Standard was like. The other worlds may as well have not existed given how little we knew about them; and the only real threat academia posed at that point was from the existence of their army.
