People like to say that manga is better than western comics because art and writing duties aren't divvied up between two people.

What some western comics lack is a consistency of a creative team. Pretty much just cape comics have the problem of the writer, the artist, or both being taken off the book at any time. This dilutes any long term creative visions. Corporate meddling can also interrupt the flow of the story, such as the current Deadpool run. Comics with a consistent team, like most Image comics, or comics written and drawn by the same person, such as Bone, tend to be of a better overall quality.
