That is possibly one of the worst Gundam shows ever made. Who thought giving Tomino another Gundam show was a good idea?

Because that was better than G-Reco in nearly all aspects. And the sales of it reflected that (Unicorn being the best-selling OVA of all the time while G-Reco having abysmal TV ratings and not even selling 5k on BDs and DVDs).
Several recent anime shows revived direction styles from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. One of 2014 that did that was Shingeki no Bahamut, which despite not being perfect, managed to avoid most of the problems that G-Reco had in terms of pacing and character development.

I stayed after watching episode 2 - If the series had its humor for the whole season, it would be an AOTS for me. The story took a diffrent route though. It was interesting to see, how Japan sees the medieval Europe, but I'm slightly underwhelmed with the whoole series.

Because the show has been getting worse with every episode.
Well fuck, this show was good but it elevated its status to great with this last episode. Easily the best episode of them all. Everything was fucking there where it needed to be. Bravo Mizushima, you know how to go out with a bang. I feel a s2 isn't necessary and the story ended very well. Well done PA Works.
