You should have seen something coming though /a/. They never said what would happen if they never retrieve them, but the way they chase the androids should have told you to be prepared for something. I'm not quite understanding the hate. I guess most of you were expecting some slice of life. The rules they had for keeping the androids under control meant it was serious business. It had a serious undertone from the beginning. It's just revealing itself now.
Maybe /a/ let it's guard down because of the cute android and it had some funny bits in it. The MC was just an outside looking in that's all. It was always going to be serious.
Oh well I guess my post won't really do much to change people's perspective. I wasn't even going to watch the Anime in the first place because the premise didn't seem interesting. I'm glad I did because I like watching it each week.
