Considering how bloody slow and dragged out the series started to get, I dropped it. Got way too SoL for my tastes.

Ah, that would make sense. Honestly though, some of the recent chapters have made pretty interesting moves. Like where Tomoko's mother gets a hint that her daughter's a total loner. I do hope that goes a little further in future

NNB: The group's plane to Okinawa in the OAV crashes, and they keep reliving the year or so between Hotaru's arrival and their trip. While the original version he sounds psycho and trembling with excitement, in the english version the guy IS READING A PIECE OF PAPER IN A MONOTONE VOICE. No passion, no effort, nothing.
What pisses me off is that most anons would do a better job than that, and those people are PAID TO SOUND MEDIOCRE.
If Americans can act inmovies, why can't they into voice acting?

I don't think SOL can be done well in dubs at all. The way people act and the kind of conversations they have don't translate well to English. Then you have the names which you can either change and then viewers bitch about the localization or you can keep the original which feels out of place and are badly pronounced.
