When she starts telling him about her first time fucking I cringed so fucking hard. It's up to chapter 21 in raws and it looks like the Yandere is still in hiding.
I mean, its not that terrible bad, but come on, its in the top 20 on MAL and was in top 30 after only two episodes. And before you say something like "wahh, MAL and /a/ aren't the same people", yeah, no. Everyone here has an account on MAL.
And the show wasn't exactly mind blowing to begin with. The MC is nothing special compared to all the other popular tropebuckets these days, bleeding edginess out their assholes. The artwork is unimpressive and on top of that it hurts your eyes just to look at these characters. The plot had some potential when it began, but then when it's finished, you realize absolutely nothing of significance or interest has happened. The foundation the story is built on is flawed.
The murderer is revealed to be an adult male, there are only 3 or 4 and one of them is confirmed not to be guilty, so the killer is easily guessed from around episode 4 onward. Not only that but the murderer isn't interesting as a character in the slightest, he's just some psycho who gives edgy smiles in a suit and fedora. What stimulates the rewind? Sometimes it just happens, while at other times it happens at his will, the length of time at which he can rewind isn't specified either, so the viewer is left just taking the author/directors word for it that it's within Satoru's abilities.
What rules of time travel does the story follow?
This isn't even including times where characters became incredibly stupid for the sake of the plot's progression, like how Satoru red flags Sensei, and tells him he has his memories back, only to make himself be seen as a threat to a man who can easily best his crippled ass in a fight.
Did I mention the widescreen, faux-film aspect ratio is super pretentious? Come on, you can't fool me into thinking I'm watching this in a theater.
A few seasons ago it was Shigatsu and Shinsekai Yori now it's this. It blows my mind how quickly garbage can climb the MAL rankings.

Popular shows currently airing shoot up on MAL all the time. I just want to point that out because I'm tired of apes using its place on the list as evidence against MAL. As if more proof is needed.
Personally I thought it was well directed and the writing never dropped below "decent" outside of the ending. I can see why people feel it stands out for them. It's a compelling story with characters you genuinely root for. Also it's grounded in reality which is a major plus for people tired of fantasy/game-like premises.
