the Lothric line was obsessed with creating a Lord of Cinder, but failed almost every time.
the closest they got was a guy who could link the fire, but chose not to.
they deified him as a Lord of Cinder, but he rejects his "duty" and locks himself in his room.
our job is to round up all the folks that can link the fire and make them do it.
so far, the only one that can link the fire and hasn't(that we know of) is Lothric.

The Firekeepers you see stuffed in the bell tower are just the past firekeepers who tended to the fire before your current firekeeper.
They literally just dump them in the tower quite heartlessly when they're done with them. No burial, no nothing.

It's literally him just referring to how in HIS AGE -not his timeline, you need to understand Courland is very fucking old; there's no reason to think this happened in an alternate timeline- There was a Firekeeper who possessed eyes and these eyes inspired her betrayal as she could see the darkness, etc.

They are attempting to recreate the 5 Lord souls from ds1, and your purpose is to do as the undead did in ds1 and gather the souls and link the flame. But Lothric and Aldrich didn't want anything to do with it, they'd rather let it fade. Yhorm was probably OK with it despite what happened when he linked the flame, being a sunbro and all, but he wanted someone worthy like his best friend to put him down instead. The Abyss Watches, I don't know, my best guess is that because they are lords of cinder because of a single entity which is the Wolf's Blood, they were fighting each other until only one remained, plus some of them were hollowed so they needed to be put down. But I doubt they wouldn't agree with being sacrificed in order to prevent the Abyss from spreading, that was their whole purpose after all.
So we had two lords who wanted the fire ending, and two who wanted the dark ending.

Without implying Ocerios /is/ Logan, I'll say: the games have implied that certain characters attributes (*either physical or more in line with a personality) can manifest in others long periods later. So Dragondad might not be Logan, but spending time in the Archives (which are implied to have a connection of some sort with the Duke's Archive) may have given him some sort of likeness to Logan.

Anor Londo is probably the only place that hasn't moved. The location fits. It was always in a valley somewhere near the north. If you look at Lothric Castle from there, you'll see it's on a hill very similar to the one Duke's Archives sat on. And in the same direction. Oceiros becoming obsessed with Seath is also a somewhat major plot point. The only problem is the change in distance, but that could be a retcon or a result of the land churning around Lothric

What exactly is the abyss and is it different from dark? Previously I thought it was the same but all this talk about abyss infecting people makes me think otherwise. DaS2 had these characters just sitting in the dark doing nothing and saying it was peaceful as well.
And in the DaS3 dark ending the screen just goes dark as the fire fades, while in Oolacile the abyss looks like the environment is diseased.
