Nurse Love Addiction due out on July 7th
JAST has picked up the rights to the Katahane remake, claims Flowers will be out 'soon'
I found it difficult to like Katahane because nothing happens in Shirohane, but loads of political intrigue and some sword fighting in Kurohane. I couldn't reconcile the two, and I found Shirohane to be too boring, despite the yuri couple. I didn't find the either of them too interesting.
>when you're so bored and desperate you start playing random games and just imagine yuri relationships even when there's nothing resembling named characters in-game
Age of Empires 2 holds up, and I'm kind of disappointed RTSs gave way for mobas and 4X.
>Finished Kindred Spirits on the Roof
First time I've ever indulged myself in VN weeb shit and I loved it.
I'm not sure what the fuck I'm supposed to do next though. Any other VN's you guys could recommend? I feel so empty right now.
It's common to feel a bit adrift after finishing a long game you enjoyed, nothing to do with being denied a particular pairing. Many people feel empty after finishing a long VN. We usually get much shorter games in yuri, which don't tend to have so strong an effect.
yo wtf, that yurigamesfree guy actually gifted me starlight vega, thxm8
I feel like a lot of onscreen things in Katahane should have happened offscreen (or not at all) and a lot of offscreen things should have happened onscreen. Overall, it feels like I had to read through a lot of things I would have preferred to not read.
Since the new megadimension game has now been released i will be giving away two copies of the game which are the large bundles.
To be in the running to win you have to create a piece of art containing girls from the game, this piece of art can be from any artistic medium e.g. visual art, literature, music. The work must be posted on another site (imgur, pastebin download) and message me the link through you steam account, this is just so people don't try to claim other peoples work and so i can easily know who sent in what.
The contest will run until the 13th in conjunction with their sale of the game.
Good luck everyone, i will also post this in the dimension thread as well.
Haven't got too far into the game myself, but there was 1 quip wondering if nepgear swung that way but then there has been moments where neptune heard a guys voice and was thinking that the guy was going to be handsome or something. Kind of mixed barrel so far although there hasn't been many characters in the game where im at to actually have yuri moments with, hopefully it picks up later on.
Depends on how much you enjoy the game. If you hate it, definitely not. There's a lot of game between you and the yuri. Personally I really enjoyed it though and I've been meaning to replay it for a while.
I used to avoid it because the summary made me think it's just a slice of life road trip yuri. But when I was bored enough to actually give it a try, it's quite amazing due to the unexpected plot.
You'll need to be pretty patient in the beginning, just relax and immerse in the slice of life portion called Shirohane, enjoying the yuri couple getting to know each other. When the mystery started creeping in, you'll be thrown into a dark, political-heavy plot (Kurohane) unprepared, with many more interesting events and developed characters. The yuri love story in this part was awesome too. My heart wrenched when the people in Shirohane reminiscend about Kurohane history. The tender yuri romance in the remaining part of Shirohane helped me to heal.
I can't guarantee you'll like it, but definitely give it a try. There's a reason why people put time to translate this VN after all. Also, the yuri girls are totally separated from the het couple and the het doesn't hog screentime.
Solid subtext, though a lot of westerners seem to prefer Fang/Lightning. Which personally I didn't really see in XIII, but I haven't played the sequels yet.
They're very long games, so if you aren't interested in the gameplay, have a problem with the linearity compared to the other FF's, you might have to force yourself to get through it.
Yuri-wise, Fang/Vanille are as gay as you can get without a straight up confession and I believe end up living together in the very end.
If you have goggles, while Serah has a fiance, sometimes it feels like she's in love with her sister more than Snow in the second and third games. Fang also openly flirts with Lightning on occasion since she's such a dyke, so there's that too.
Eh, I'd just maybe look up some Fang/Vanille cutscenes and if you feel like it Fang & Lightning's interactions on Youtube if you're really on the fence about it and you just want the yuri.
Truth be told, I actually just started another playthrough, because I had the dual impulse of "I want to play as a hot chick stabbing shit with a spear" and "me want yuri."
You gotta understand that while Vanille is introduced right in the opening hours, Fang doesn't join up as playable until quite a ways in, and then you gotta go through some more stuff before they reunite.
It's definitely one of those "how much are you willing to tolerate for what you want" kind of games.
It kills me that of all the Final Fantasies that could be yuri-friendly, it had to be XIII.
I dropped it when you supposed to beat up the pope, I was really frustrated with the combat, and I started running past all the fights. That didn't bode well when a boss that has a big fat AoE kill move (at my level anyways) shows up.
Meh, I usually like mainline FF (I played from 6 onward, dropped 8 cause it wasn't that interesting when I tried it, 12 was ok, never played 7), but with 13 being widely considered the worst in a long long time... I have no idea if I would like the game (or games) individually or not.
I have no problem with linearity if the gameplay is good.
>Eh, I'd just maybe look up some Fang/Vanille cutscenes and if you feel like it Fang & Lightning's interactions on Youtube if you're really on the fence about it and you just want the yuri.
I can't get into it like that senpai!
>It kills me that of all the Final Fantasies that could be yuri-friendly, it had to be XIII.
I feel ya.
If you count turn-based battles as strategy, Winter Wolves RPGs could be for you. So far there's three: Planet Stronghold, Loren the Amazon Princess and Tales of Aravorn: Seasons of the Wolf. Planet Stronghold has a sequel but it's a card game so that might not count.
Look, it's buttons secondhand on a console and you can just pirate it on a PC. Play it for an hour or two and if you're not feeling it just watch the cutscenes online. Personally I enjoyed the storyline enough to not be overly bothered by the linearity and adored the gameplay, though I'm willing to admit it takes a retardedly long time to open up and allow you to play properly.
If you're this on the fence about it though, I'd say just youtube the yuri.
I always saw the fish as some sort of mentor/guardian, it sucks CH decided to pander to the otaku with forced het ships. Really, outside of a few teasing scenes (which are not even initiated by the fish himself), the fish is nice, one of the best male characters in Neptunia (which is not hard since most of them suck). Aside the fish, I only like Copypaste. Now the ninja robot is complete garbage. Thank goodness Uni doesn't like him back and Geki Blanc had the Unigear confession scene.
SFV is super interesting so far.
Oh more information about this contest that is happening.
Sorry if you have already started work on something but, obviously because this is a yuri board putting some yuri into the work will not be necessary but will earn you extra points per se, also by request i have a turned the date back to the 12th, so if you were going to buy the game anyway and didn't win you still have enough time to buy it while it is discounted.
If you have received a free game from me already you are still eligible to participate and win. Not to harp on for too much longer but i doubt many people will participate so even if you aren't that creative you could probably do something terrible and still win.
i will post a the contest information on my steam profile if you want to check it out there.
Is anyone willing to give Seven Pirates a try when it comes out and report back? I know it doesn't look promising at all but, I mean, the pink creature isn't something anyone would self insert into and it's certainly not suitable for a legitimate harem lead, so I guess there could still be something?
Maybe? No? I'm just trying to be optimistic since it's rare to see an all-girls CH game that isn't Neptune.
And the reason for that is even dumber: lips.
There's language selection in the PC version so you can have Japanese or English audio. But the CG movies for these two languages aren't the same because lip sync is different, and you end up having to download two versions of every CG movie. Since this is Final Fantasy we're talking about, that adds up to ridiculous amount of GB fast.
As far as I know console versions are single language, so they're smaller.
I don't know whether to be impressed by the attention to detail, or to laugh because come on - 60 gigs for a game?
Though Windows 98 needed like 200MB, while Diablo 2 wanted 2 gigs, so it just went up an order of magnitude is all.
Fire Emblem Fates for an SRPG option
>player avatar can marry a girl
>almost all the female units have somebody they're particularly close to
>childhood friends, lady warriors who fought their way from humble origins to become seasoned soldiers to protect the princesses that gave new meaning to their lives, girls finding lifelong companions in the middle of war, so many different dynamics
>one girl actually has being gay as her unique skill, where being supported by a girl improves her damage output and reduces damage taken, and spends almost all her female support convos flirting with her female companion, and getting quite emotionally intimate in some cases
>rampage across continents and time itself with your lesbo army
Oh hey, Soleil. A girl that male MC had to give a potion in order to see males as females so she could fall in love with him, nice. Also you can't marry her as a girl despite her saying she likes cute girls.
Also in English they removed expanded yuri dialogue with Syalla that the Japanese version had.
I saw some youtube videos. So I assumed that there are patches.
The story is terribad
The combat is good
Their business model is questionable
Both original release routes (read: 2 separate games) costs $40 each.
If you buy 1 of them as DLC then it's $20
Both routes blatantly advertise another DLC that is the true route (which is $20) (MC constantly saying things like "I wish things were different")
Honestly, I haven't even bought a Nintendo game new in at least 4 years, they're just too fucking expensive. Even secondhand the games I want are still quite expensive. I've had a 3DS just sitting in a drawer for a few years now, whereas Microsoft and Sony have made a fortune out of me because they actually put things on sale, especially DDL.
As a game? The 3 route thing is kinda questionable, but each game is roughly the same length as the previous FE. If you're playing them all, you'll see quite a few reused maps, but there's usually something different. Conquest has great gameplay, REvalations has decent, Borthright has meh.
As a yuri game? The lesbian option is only on 2 of the three games and prevents you from getting a kid. Soleil is kinda weird in her personality/marraige options, but you don't need to marry her off unlike the first gens.
There's also a pretty well put together gay hack that introduces a fuckton of gay marriages and allows gay kids.
I played through them with the hack and had a great time.
There's a single yuri pairing possible compared to roughly 400 possible het pairings.
Having a full yuri option in a mainstream Japanese game is already a massive step forward, credit where credit is due, and hopefully in 10 years we'll recognise Fire Emblem: Fates as the opening of the floodgates for /u/s. But right now all we have on o/u/r hands is a game that throws /u/s a bone while at the same time making baffling and sometimes downright /u/-unfriendly decisions.
Until Natsume gives us the Yuri option we've been begging forever, i'll still hate those Japanes companies. Have to play a fucking rom hack to play Yuri....Harvest Moon! I love you and hate you!
>one support conversation is the only thing that made FE notable as an SRPG series
I get that you don't like this series, but FE was more or less popular with SRPG fans way before Fates was released.
It's not a "yuri strategy game" the original poster requested. It's "a strategy game with some yuri in it", and playing it for those characters alone is like playing, say, Rogue Legacy for an off chance the game will generate you a female character with "Gay" trait.
>everybody getting upset over this and that and I'm just sitting here enjoying reading all the support conversations between all the girls, which /u/ is suddenly too good for
Eh,that's pretty wrong too really, if you had to pick one thing only that set FE apart from other SRPGs it's a limited character-roster + permadeath. Of course, the latter is basically gone now that you can just opt out of it, which really sucks. I'm not actually against it because 'muh casuals' - it doesn't really affect my enjoyment since I just play normal anyway - but because the key design-decisions that makes FE unique game-play-wise absolutely do not hold up when you DON'T enforce perma-death. Both Awakening and Fates had huge issues with wildly swinging difficulty and some excessively trivial missions and the retarded highest difficulty levels that have nothing in common with what made the older games tough.
All your units having a name and personality in general is also a selling-point, and supports would be a part of that. But only or even main thing is hardly true. I've played all FE's except 1 - 3 and 11 multiple times and never gave a shit about the supports for example - the gameplay was what drew me in from the start.
Update from Winged Cloud
We probably won't see a Sakura Fantasy 2 anytime soon, if ever. They've been taking about putting gameplay mechanics into Adventure, but Dungeon apparently took a lot out of them.
Who cares? Sakura Fantasy was a pointless waste of a production. Sakura games are not for plot, they don't know how to write them. They're happier with mindless tits and the customers know what they're getting.
Sakura Adventure is most likely going to be yuri, or it's dozens of CGs of someone peeping on girls making out.
Sakura Shrine Girls was announced as a "story about two catgirls"
Really, it's anyone's guess. Sakura Space was the first time they ever actually came right out and said what kind of game it would be.
>get a message from Steam
>Nurse Love Addiction now available
>Oh boy, time to-
Yuri nurses can wait for my next paycheck.
> nep nep u$s 60
>yuri nurses u$s 40
It didn't sell AS MUCH as they can get spending that same amount of time on something else. They're greedy. It's why the whole mess with the otome kickstarter happened. They refused to waste their time making the game they'd promised because it wouldn't have as high returns.
It is tough to justify spending your time on something when the market doesn't seem willing to support it, especially if they're buying up shorter games with no choices and ignoring the ones you put all your love into.
This is Cheatergear.
You can just buy nepnep for 30 muh freedom bucks with the Arthur, Nitroplus and God Eater Character DLCs! The rest of them are basically just cancer.
I mean, as much as I don't like that company, you can't really fault them for not investing time and money in something that won't sell well. It's not like they're a ragtag group of devs who do it for fun and don't expect much in return, they have actual employees who want actual money, not positive reviews on an anonymous imageboard.
Breaking their promise is another thing. A very shitty one, in fact.
So many upcoming games (Adventure, Shrine Girls, Space) and they don't have time for Fantasy 2?
Also, I said it before, but they should REALLY look up how to draw girls with different breast sizes.
>So many upcoming games (Adventure, Shrine Girls, Space) and they don't have time for Fantasy 2?
>So many upcoming games to work on and they don't have time for another game?
Now that's a shocker.
Me neither, but Winged Cloud doesn't strike me as a dev that deserves my money in the first place.
By the way, what separates Sakura Dungeon from something like Demon Master Chris? I played a few hours of Chris and they look very similar.
Shit, I knew about the genre similarity but I thought the artists were supposed to be different despite the art looking similar. I looked up Chris on danbooru and the artist tagged was called vioka, but for the Sakura games all the research I did was finding the artist's deviantart (I know, big mistake to go there) profile, called wacana.
Speaking of similar artwork, Nurse Love Addiction's is most similar to Ooshima Tomo's, imo. Someone else must have made that connection already, right?
I randomly let the nurse game's PV autorun while looking on its Steam page and I had actually forgotten this game is
>Asami Imai, Yumi Hara, and Tamura Yukari being gay together in a game, fully voiced and translated. This is a gift from the heavens.
I know I can wait for a pirated version or a deeper sale, but fuck it, can't resist.
Is it not fully voiced? Shame if so; I guess that's how they got all those seiyuu under budget. I already splashed $27 x currency conversion on Yurirei, but nurses just looks too good to pass up.
Oh. Glorious. Already almost done downloading.
And the script isn't as weeb as Yurirei's, isn't it?
I haven't started it yet but I heard the classes are gender locked, though I think the similarities between a lot of m/f classes means it won't impact your ability to make a strong yuri army.
Would you play a yuri game where the protagonist is 'straight' and therefore all the love interests have to put in extra effort to seduce her (possibly forcefully)? Or would it be too frustrating watching your character constantly resist?
quote marks around straight, indicating she isn't actually, but she needs a bit of convincing.
Basically, for people who fantasize about being swept off their feet and converted into a lesbian lifestyle
What possible sense would that make, if the love interests are all predatory lesbians trying to seduce the protagonist?
Shojokyuu was kind of like that. Not that the protagonist thought she was straight, but she thought she'd get in trouble for anything sexual thanks to her Catholic school. Two of the three heroines sexually assault her. The other was smart about her approach, such as starting the plot of the game off by giving the protagonist a book as a present: lesbian erotica about two friends getting it on.
While it is hilarious that you are basically suggesting a game with lesbians raping a straight girl gay (opposite the common het trope) I just don't have interest in it. I also don't buy yuri with even tangential het, so that's my minimum standard of quality.
Unless you are incorrectly applying 'straight' to mean a girl who thought she was asexual instead of a person who wants het relationships, in which case I don't mind it.
But fuck it if I have to play a girl who fiercely resists beautiful lesbians and makes me waste time reading about her hetslut life.
The classes are gender locked but there is enough variety in the female classes to cover an all female party with solid variety. You can also give male characters female voices but only a couple hairstyles work for an ambiguous look, though your mileage may vary.
I want this, but if it's some mindbreak/rape, you can get the fuck out of my face
That was basically the dynamic between Aria and Lyria.
If a story had a character who experimented with het but found out she was gay, would that put people off to find out that character had straight sex once upon a time?
Wouldn't put me off. https://vndb.org/v6341 had a protagonist like that.
I can name you more works with "all gay erry day" characters than those with somewhat realistic depictions of people who thought they weren't gay and experimented with het relationships but then realized they were homo/bisexual.
Are you daft? Every fucking day someone asks "but what if I add men to yuri? It's okay because it's more realistic/there are not enough works with men/there are too many works with girls being gay for other girls, could use some variety, right?"
>Every fucking day
Show me a screencap of people asking this "every fucking day". So far I see two posts, presumably from the same person, and vaguely remember some anons (including me) discussing variety in earlier threads.
>one idea post about a male harem MC not realizing his harem girls were all hardcore homoqueens for each other and a couple more about harem MCs not interested in being harem MCs
The amount of put-offedness will hinge on the quality of writing more than anything. This is why Morishima can write about whatever the fuck she wants.
See Something in the Wine by Jae for a good example of a character who thought she was straight: it is a part of the character's history but not a part of the story (if that makes sense), making the mention of het more palatable. Though if it her history is used to spur on a competition between sexes then it is always an absolute shitshow.
No, every day people leap to conclusions about FORCED MEN in stories that never said anything about having men in them at all
(Seriously, the whole reason I was pondering 'straight' for an MC, and yes, 'asexual' would work just as well, was to give her a reason to struggle and protest so I could write more aggressiveness on the part of the love interests. Not because I wanted men involved.)
Just make this the entire premise of the game and it'll be fun.
>objective: guide the mc into the arms of a lesbian
>Yuri 1: "Hey, mc, you look really pretty today!"
>choose: [Pretend you didn't hear that] ["Oh, thanks, you too!"] ["Not as sexy as you!"]
>"Not as sexy as you!"
>MC's Internal monologue: FUUUU-
>When I blurted that out, we both froze. That doesn't sound like something I'd ever say out loud. I quickly break eye contact and run out the store, all the way home.
>If I never go out, I'll never see her again.
>[You stayed indoors until you starved.]
>[AWKWARD FRIENDSHIP END]
To beat this game, you have to learn about the mc.
Yes, and people called all of those ideas out on being shit.
To be honest, the idea of a harem MC who doesn't want to bang his harem and just wants to save the world and go home to his farm while the harem has lesbian orgies every night and doesn't contribute anything worthwhile to the whole world saving thing sounds interesting. But it's more /a/ than /u/.
Sexuality is so boring. Why even bother with stating a character's sexuality when what they do within the story is more important. If it's romance between girls, it's yuri! Why even lend time thinking about that bullshit!
where? in the five minute demo the main character could kiss a dude and rant about how it doesn't make her not a lesbian to fuck cute boys, so really don't expect a pure yuri game from love.
No, this is what the author tries to bill her as from the get go:
"You're a super cool dyke with a sweet motorcycle and a reputation for being a ladykiller... but you owe your twin brother a huge favour for helping with your failing grades, forcing you to take his place on his high school graduation celebratory cruise."
>girl had a relationship with a guy in the past
>girl just experiments with a guy in the middle of the story
Come on, dude, we deal with this stupid shit so much in yuri manga already. Why would you just play into the shittiest plot developments?
>Come on, dude, we deal with this stupid shit so much in yuri manga already.
But I never said that was the case.
I'm still miffed at how shitty the art for that game is. I liked the Analogue games well enough and the dom/sub VN stuff is really up my alley but ugh. I mean even beyond the bodies that aren't particularly feminine and the style in general, all the faces are seriously about half as big as they should be. Some exaggeration but seriously, some of the characters seriously looks like someone just forgot to make the faces big enough to fit on the heads.
The worst part is the old art that gets posted occasionally, while not perfect and definitely improvable, looks ten times better. Even taking into account the subjectivity of me favoring animu artstyle over western, there's just no argument.
Well, to get back on topic, I wouldn't expect dicks in it, but if it's there then it's probably a character being a trans chick with a dick or the like.
1 min of searching.
Early stuff is pretty amateur, middle seems good to me (if only sketches). 2014 is like a better version of current art (just go back to the home page and scroll down a bit to see the same character with current art, and compare faces).
The middle ones are definitely more anime inspired (Type-Moon style or so?).
I looked at the twitter feed and the only one I see mentioning a chick and a dick is about the Stalker, which is clearly referring to how she deserves better than MC's bro. Nothing het-indicative about it.
The other one about the Swimmer - that's a male character.
7th Dragon III releasing in US on Tuesday, Europe eventually.
I remember seeing the name here but I forget why it is worth remembering. Is it just one of those games where you can make an all-female group to crawl dungeons with or is there something specifically yuri that this brings to the table?
There's also the
admittedly pointlessdates you can have your party members go out on. Again, blank slate characters, but for anyone looking to add a bit more interaction to their OCs, it's pretty good. Better than running off in Etrian Odyssey and pretending that it's a team of rampaging lesbians.
The only thing is that some of the male characters might get in the way of staying pure yuri. In that case you'd have to either skip their events if that bothers you, or switch out to a different character.
This is one of my beef with the past het relationships or whatever. Some people think you can't be gay unless you have tried with someone of the opposite sex before. Funny thing nobody tells that to hetero people. Nobody tells them: you can't know you are hetero if you have never dated/fucked someone of the same sex.
In Analogue I liked Hyun-ae and Mute, I liked interacting with them, but I hated the actual story of what happened in the ship. It was so boring. I mean, Hyun-ae's story was alright, but all the rest...meh.
I mean get in the way of any rping you might do. Everyone's last dates imply that mc and said npc fuck. Well, everyone but the old guy.
These are all optional, but you miss out on some pretty decent items if you don't do them all.
