FUCKING GOBLINS!
>>
>>48159527
I know a guy that had a old fashion Krenko deck, tap him to double the number of goblins on the field version. I would win every long term game that went past 30 minuets, but before that I would lose unless we were playing doubles, also every single time. We would have games where he would have 300,000+ goblins on the field at a time(he also had Door of Destiney and several cards like it to give bonuses for each goblin on the field)ever seen a wave 300,000/300,000 goblins with First strike and trample, its fucking horrifying? I had a LOT of nukes and ways to cycle them back into my deck, Elixir of Immortality is based. By the time we stopped being able to play each other we totaled up the kills I made with nukes and other wide bolt cards. I killed more goblins then Hitler killed jews and Nico Bolas fucked over/killed people, put together.
>>
>>48159791
All this was for shits and giggles, we don't play standard.
>>
What are some essential big creatures in a mono red ramp deck? I'm building one and my top end seems to be just dragons, Blighsteel and the big Eldrazi. I feel like there must be some interesting non-dragon red creatures.

Hamletback's a bit too dull for me, but I guess I should take a look at giants.
>>
>>48159527
I'm in the process of making one too. Looks like something to to do direct damage using creatures as a resource like Purphoros or that thing that flings goblins is a great way to win. Can someone remind me of the name?
Akroma's Memorial, Hall of Triumph, Gauntlet of Might, Eldrazi monument are nice if you'd rather have classic combat wins. Then if you're like me and went too far with artifacts, goblin welder is a fantastic one drop.
Finally, ways to recur Krenko's ability.
Umbral mantle, staff of domination, jandor's saddlebags, illusionist bracers, magewright's stone. Thousand year elixir is MVP.
>>
>>48159878

Inferno titan, Malignus, Rapacious , Urbrask
>>
>>48159893
Run more than 10 lands.

Don't run Primal Vigor, it sucks.

Devoted Druid would probably be good in Ghave since you can get around the -1/-1 counters easily.

You might want to consider running some of the Spikes. In particular, Spike Weaver gives you a way to Fog if something like Dosan, the Falling Leaf or Defense Grid is out, and Spike Feeder goes infinite with Archangel of Thune.
>>
>>48159946
>>48159893
Sorry, I didn't realize you were trying to avoid going infinite with this deck. Forget about Archangel then.

You should still run Spike Weaver though, it's a good card.
>>
>>48159946
>Run more than 10 lands
Well, it's just a draft. I'm trying to get the rest of the deck sussed out before I do the landbase so I have the color ratios right.

Spike Feeder/Archangel is already in my lifegain deck, and I dislike overlapping cards (I even more dislike overlapping combos/synergies between multiple cards), so I think I'll leave that out. I might put in Spike Weaver, but I'm trying to keep it as Fungus and Saproling focused as possible, with the remaining creatures mostly just for utility. I'll look into it though.
>>
>>48159928
Urabrask's actually my commander, I can't believe I forgot Inferno Titan though. Rapacious One's interesting too, I'll try and slot him in. Malignus doesn't really interest me though, I'd rather not run creatures that just exist because they're big. At least Blightsteel ignores lifegain decks. I also forgot about Molten Primordial

>>48159009
Well now I don't know who to believe. I'll ask the new thread.
If I make a clone of Humble Defector with Kiki-Jiki and activate the clone, does the opponent sacrifice it at the end of my turn, or keep the clone?
>>
>>48159973
>at least Blightsteel ignores lifegain decks
Malignus kinda does too. It's half as big as their life total, so even if they're at 250 it's gonna knock them down by half. Combine that with any doubling-damage effect like Furnace of Rath and it can one-shot anyone who can't block it.
>>
>>48159995
The delayed trigger that carries the "sacrifice it" instruction is created as your Kiki Jiki's ability resolves. As such, the trigger will be a trigger you control when it fires off. Trigger triggers, goes to resolve, and does nothing because you can't sacrifice a permanent you don't control. If it were something like Mimic Vat, which exiles, it'd still get eaten though.
>>
>>48159973
>>48159973
>Malignus doesn't really interest me though

Please don't. At least Newzuri has a theme.
>>
>>48160028
I'd use Malignus as a commander if I could. Would be great for voltron but I assume it would be busted as fuck considering the number of double damage effects in red.
>>
>>48160022
Wait, so with ways to recur feldon/kiki jiki you could spam the board with humble defectors? Red group hug? Absolute mad man!
>>
>>48160022
Great, thanks a lot.
>>
>>48160062
Well, you don't need to 'recur' since neither Feldon nor Kiki Jiki die when you use them, but yeah. You could use Kiki Jiki and give away the Copy-Defector every turn and just hand them out to people like candy.
>>
>>48160045
I already did the gay thing last night and made infinite mana and played all my creatures with TnN and locked them out with glen elandra and counterspell.

>>

Yeah, Sisay's not that great in that case. Your Legends aren't very silver-bullety, so it wouldn't work as well as you might think.

Cards in RL aren't there because of their power level. For example there's serra angel with echo, can't remember the name, but it's exactly the same card, but 1 generic cheaper.
>>
>>48160194
I mean, some are. There's some cards which technically SHOULD be on the reserve list, but were removed from it because they're awful.
>>
>>48160215
The cards that were removed from the RL were all the commons and uncommons. There was a big outcry to remove them from the RL and Wizards relented.

>>

So a walking OTK with unpreventable damage doesn't interest you?

I have Malignus in my Xenagod deck, and anon let me tell you, it's cheeky as hell to just one shot somebody out of nowhere. Also Blade of Selves.
>>
>>48159527
I've got a Krenko list made up. I tend to build budget (usually), so I was able to make him for about $200.

There's really only two ways of doing Krenko; full-on goblin tribal attacking, or as >>48159676
said, use Purphoros/impact tremors and direct damage.

Mine is about halfway between the two strategies and it works out great.

I don't believe that Kaladesh will offer much in the way of equipment. While there are a number of equipment cards associated with different planes, I feel that equipment is kind of Mirrodin/Zendikar's bag.

I think Kaladesh will offer us more in the way of "izzet meets esper".

I considered it and decided against it, mostly because it feels like the "win on the spot or get blown out by a Fog" kind of thing that isn't really that fun to me. It's cute, sure, but the risk is pretty high, and the 'reward' is that the game just ends as it resolves. Not my kind of style.

Well, if you'd post complete lists people wouldn't point it out, just like the Ghave deck you were asking for advice on earlier that had 10 lands.

If you're looking for removal, you're doing good so far but you might want to run Caustic Caterpillar and Viridian Zealot so that you can blow up artifacts and enchantments under a Torpor Orb. If you find yourself going wide often, Nullmage Shepherd is also an option. Terastodon is pretty high on the curve but it's probably worth running too.

If you're looking for card advantage, the main thing that you're missing is Regal Force, the green Draw7. Speaking of draw7s, if you don't want to run the red spell-based ones then you should at least run Magus of the Wheel. Fierce Empath and Woodland Bellower, although not strict card advantage per se, are also cards I'm a big fan of since between the two of them they can grab pretty much any utility creature you need.

As for other stuff, Urabrask would probably be good since it gives you a haste outlet other than Xenagos, Seedborn Muse is just generally a good card, especially with stuff like Nullmage Shepherd and Frontier Guide, and you need a lot more ramp than you're running now if you want to be able to cast any of this shit consistently.

Finally, here's two decent Ruric Thar lists from an EDH tournament held by a bunch of faggots. You may want to look at them to get ideas on what to run.

Sure sure- I hadn't gotten to the ramp yet, but good call on the haste enablers. I'll keep the 'pop me to nuke an artifact' cards in mind if anyone starts running Torpor Orb in my area, but right now they're not huge problems.

>>
>>48163325
Where's your removal?
Unified Strike and Darksteel Mutation aren't enough.
You have some weak creatures as well, it seems like that you just searched for Boros soldiers in gatherer and took everything that came up.
You need more removal, both creature and noncreature.
Still, I like the deck even if it's weak.
>>
>>48163482
A lot of the removal is attached to creatures
>>
>>48163325
Add in a Boros Charm and some wrath effects. Austere Command seems an obvious one to go with. I also really like Brave the Elements along with Blasphemous Act.
>>
>>48163325
>>48163304
You need a lot more ramp and a lot more card draw. In particular you want to look into Reforge the Soul, Magus of the Wheel, Memory Jar, Slate of Ancestry, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Boros Signet/Keyrune/Cluestone, Prismatic Lens, Temple of Triumph, Clifftop Retreat, Battlefield Forge, rainbow lands, etc.

Conqueror's Pledge seems like it's too far above your curve to be useful. You should consider Nomad's Assembly instead, or even Nahiri the Lithomancer since she's a permanent source of soldier tokens.

Ballynock Trapper is terrible. Don't play it, even if you do have tap synergy going on.

You're running red, why not include a couple of haste cards? Fervor and Hammer of Purphoros at least seem good, and Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots might also be worth including.

The other anon is right, you need a lot more removal. You have a decent amount of creature removal, but you're severely lacking in artifact and enchantment removal. I would look into Martial Coup as a board wipe and for spot removal Aura of Silence, Purify, Austere Command, Cleansing Meditation, Vandalblast, Wear/Tear, Return to Dust, and Oblivion Ring. You don't necessarily have to put all of them in, but running some combination of them would be good.

Also Boros Charm is definitely worth running.

A woodland bellower package can be really strong. While you're at it, might as well toss in a loaming shaman, he's serious business. I once was playing a game against some pretty competitive decks and an opponent buried alive on turn two for jin gitaxias and some other big stuff. I untapped and loaming shaman'd him and the look on his face was worth a hell of a lot more than loaming shaman's value.

Another good call- the whole point of the deck is "Dudes are spells", so using Loaming Shaman as specific graveyard hate OR as grave recursion for myself seems fine.

About how many cards is a Bellower 'package'? I've already got E-Wit, which I assume would be one of them.

Hey /edhg/, been editting my deck, trying to improve the STAX theme, I have a list of cards that I'll be trading out for others. What do you think about these changes?:

Undercity Informer->Torpor Orb
Thoughtpicker Witch->Cursed Totem
Fleshbag Marauder->Abyssal Gatekeeper
Gary->Kokusho, the Evening Star
Withering Boon->Imi Statue
Dauthi Embrace->Arena of the Ancients

I also want to add in Ward of Bones and Syphon Flesh but I don't know what I could possibly cut without fucking up the rest.

What happens when I have this guy and a mindmoil out and I cast a spell? Do I put my hand away, draw a new one, put it away and draw again? Or do I put my hand away and draw my hands worth twice?
>>
>>48167651
well they are both put on the stack when triggered so depending on which one you want to trigger first you let it trigger then you do it again.

but i don't see why you would have a deck with both?
>>
>>48167651
>cast a spell
>Arjun and Mindmoil's ability both trigger and go on the stack
>first ability resolves, you put your hand on the bottom then draw that many cards
>second ability resolves, you put your hand on the bottom then draw that many cards

In between the two abilities resolving though you get priority, so you can cast any instants you drew with the first ability before the second ability replaces your hand again.
>>
>>48167726
Cards like niv fire mind, psychosis crawler, sphinx's tutlage, chasm skulker, and "when you draw" effects.

>>
>>48167763

>>
>>48167960
it looks something like this:

T = times you draw new hand
S = spells cast

T = S * 2

once you have stopped casting spells you still have all the "second trigger card draw" left.

meaning that if you for example cast 7 spells. You would have to draw your hand 7 times after you're done casting spells by rule.
