I wonder what the possible benefits of putting an interdictor into low orbit could be. Seems like unnecessarily putting a valuable asset at risk.

with that said, what do folks think of the new admiral and interdictor stats for armada? seems like a surprisingly solid ship on its own, with a lot of solid tricks onboard.
>>
>>48029400
Given the presence of the SSD, several Imperial-class escorts, and Death Star in the background, it was likely part of a defensive formation.
>>
>>48029898
I mean, the Death Star almost brings up more questions then it answers. why deploy this formation into close orbit with a death star overhead? are they securing a VIP from a planet before blasting it, or is the death star supposed to be there just to remind you everything is star wars-y?
>>
I just realized how incredibly difficult it would be to win a bare knuckle fist fight with someone stronger than you in the FF rpgs.

You would have to be vastly more skilled than them or just cheat and bring a weapon.

actually a good explanation, though it brings up why you'd put TIE interceptors in the pic since they were supposedly invented post Yavin. I'm willing to let it slide as some AU where a new death star is finished with an imperial flotilla guarding it though.

Eh, in some versions of Legends there were testbed Interceptors pre-Yavin, the same time as the introduction of the X-Wing.

>>
>>48031439
set up your fleet outside of the system, move an interdictor with an escort group into position of exactly where you want your fleet, activate the interdictor and have your fleet hyperspace in its direction.

Alternately, keep interdictors on various sides of a battlefield and have ships jump between them where ever they're needed.
>>
>>48031439
Well, I was thinking that if you were doing really deep space mining operations (say Kuiper Belt objects) you could arrange matters with gravitation fields so that material could be sent to accumulate at set points when released, like logs sent down a river, instead of needing transports, tugs or thrusters.

So... I'm trying to access the FFG Character Generator, and it's asking me to join a group.

Am I just being stupid and not understanding something here? I assumed it was a download link for a program or something.
>>
>>48031712
I assume you used the link in the Pastebin for the fill-in files. You join that group and you can download stuff that replaces the normal files (where it'll say, "see page XXX in book YYY") to ones with actual descriptions for some of the stuff. The actual generator can be found on the forums by either using the "compiled list" link in the pastebin or just searching for Oggdude's Character Generator in google.
>>
>>48031769
I did use the Paste bin link, and I guess I missed something about the forum since like I said assumed it was just some kind of HTML Web generator.

Thanks for the Info though, I'll get that setup since I may be starting a game here soon.

Which will also be my first time GMing a game, but I know a fair bit about Star Wars so I think I can run a fun and exciting game.

There's two things I can't decide about the ARC:

I'd love a larger shot of it, but considering X-wing's history with ships so far, I'd imagine it'll be nice. I'm curious about the title that comes with it. 0 cost, so I'm trying to imagine why they'd include the buffs as a title rather than a flat boost. Unless they just didn't want to cram the text onto each card.

There is no mechanism in X-wing for expressing unique ship traits, so they have to use 0-point 'auto-equip' titles to do the job. You wouldn't be able to fit all that info on 'Alliance Overhaul' onto the same card as a ship with a pilot ability.
>>
>>48033782
I keep mine displayed proudly on a bookshelf which is light enough to move if a girl comes over. For transport to the FLGS I just work out what components I'll need in advance and I put only them in a lunchbox.

>>
>>48033662
>>48034101

The tendency at least with the 0-point, non-unique titles in the latest wave seems to be to give any instance of a ship a special ability which doesn't really work with how pilot cards are formatted. Other instances indicate different variants or models of a core ship which show slight variations.

In the specific case of Overhaul it works to not only give all ARC-170s a special trick but also can be said to explain why they're still competitive in a game which includes shit like K and E wings and TIE Phantoms and Defenders, if you stick the Overhaul on them the Alliance has apparently been cramming them full of the latest shit to make it work.

hey /tg/ maybe you can help me out here.

I've got a WEG campaign set about 10 years before A New Hope. The team is the high ranking engineer, flight lieutenant, chief security officer and captain on board a Gozanti cruiser working for the Empire, but they screwed up in a variety of ways and are now being hunted. I need something properly intimidating but escapable hunting them. I was debating either a Gladiator star destroyer or an aging Venator or Acclamator. Any other suggestions?
>>
>>48036630
A Star Destroyer? For a transport? Just send an Arquitens after them.
>>
>>48036690
...fuck I forgot Arquitens were existing things. Thanks man. think you might have saved the party from a potential wipe because of a brain fart.

>>48036807
Think the Arquitens might be a bit more recognizable and they'd understand to avoid fighting it. Could also just toss other Gozanti's after them, along with TIE escorts for an even opponent, but with weight of numbers. I was considering Raiders, but they'd be able to outpace a lone Gozanti easily

an old upgunned Consular would work, as might a CR-90 modified as a pirate hunter, or even an old frigate of some type. hell, if you're interested, I could come up with something custom-tailored for you
>>
>>48037324
Honestly, that would be super helpful.

Something that's a little beat up but able to nicely threaten them with superior TIE numbers and some denting in a Gozanti would be super helpful. I'm fine with whatever you think would work best.
>>
>>48037420
do you want a completely new ship, or a modified existing model?
additionally, do you have ideas as to the NPC sent to catch them or would you be willing to take an idea for that, too?
>>
>>48030656
In Prophets of the Dark Side, the sixth and final book in the series, Han Solo rests on another large floating pillow, this time on Yavin 4, but this pillow is not specifically identified as a chair, let alone the most comfortable chair ever designed.
oh wookieepedia, never change
>>
>>48037465
I'd prefer a modified existing ship if at all possible.

The crew sent to catch them are going to be a couple imperials that got stuck on piss poor backwater assignments. after my party shot up an imperial garrison and released the crewmen on their ship that disagreed with betraying the empire, this NPC crew got assigned to hunt them down. Its one last shot at getting into the local Moff and admiral's good graces, so they're hopping at the chance.

I kinda played around with the idea that they'd be people who morally disagreed with the Empire but still turned in decent enough work that it saved more trouble to give them a ship that needed maintenance and let them patrol then to remove them, lead by a female captain only in her current position because of an essay in officer school that criticized Grand Moff Tarkin for splatting protestors with a star destroyer. I liked the idea that she's currently trying to turn over a ruthless streak, and having trouble with it. Hunting traitors would be the action she most agrees with in her career.
>>
>>48037566
>I'd prefer a modified existing ship if at all possible.
hrm, OK. how do you feel about a severely battered and downgraded bigger ship, or would a smaller, upgraded but temperamental ship be more your speed?
>Its one last shot at getting into the local Moff and admiral's good graces, so they're hopping at the chance.
well, that was pretty much what I was going to come up with anyway, so that makes things easier
>>
>>48037612
I like the idea that they got passed something that's about one last sortie away from being mothballed. The grimier and more shitty the better, I want the party to get nervous about something tailing them only to realize how little the empire thinks of them when they see their attacker.
>>
So, I'm looking to run a campaign combining Armada, X-Wing, and the ooooold tabletop game based on 3.5. I found good rules for running land-based campaigns, but not for any one that may combine, basically, air, land, and space.

Like, outside of giving very video-gamey things like "if you have Air Superiority, you get X free air strikes," having X-wing ships deploy from certain squares or ships, and having a space map above the ground map, all of which seem really clunky and overly complex, plus being really video-gamey, I can't think of any fixes.

Anyone familiar with any systems that could help? Maybe something made for 40k or some homebrew?
>>
>>48032804
The ARC-170 is ugly. The PTB-625 bomber, on the other hand, is GOAT. Much superior to the ARC-170.

Unless Imperial Assault has expanded a lot more to be more than small raiding groups, that is.
>>
>>48038709
Ah, still convoluted as well though. Probably not what you want to hear but finding a way to abstract some of these layers is the best way to go
>>
>>48038727
Damn. I mean, the idea is that it's a bit more complex, it's a miniatures wargame campaign, but hoping to not make it clunky. Having control of the air and space over an area isn't just "get some bonus clickies during ground battles," and holding the ground, especially in X-Wing due to things like anti-air guns or even just dudes shooting up, should have an effect.

In my last EotE session my group just acquired some old Y-wings that they discovered hidden in a weapons cache while being marooned on an uncharted world. We ended the session with them shooting out of the atmosphere in the direction of a known pirate vessel that bases itself here. This will be my group's first space combat.

So my question is, how can I make it an interesting and fun encounter? Would it be fun for them to take our a lone pirate gunboat or to duke it out with some Z-95s?

Honestly I'm not really sure how to handle it.

Am I the only one who, prior to episode III, even in episode I and II, kind of figured that Vader's more machine than man thing was a gradual change?

Nah, even in the early days, well before the prequels, we get hints from Lucas that it was an all-at-once thing, and that Vader wasn't really OLD, just crippled
>>

>What makes it so lethal?

At SIL 3 or lower you RAW can just explode and die instantly at 0 HT, and RAW there are no real bonuses to defending by having a greater skill in piloting. Shields to jack all to absorb damage. Most fighter weapons have at least Linked 1 or they carry heavy ordinance so you can very easily get your shit blown up.

If you look funny at a TIE fighter in planetary scale it'll explode

Insta-explosions are treated the same as if they were minions/weak rivals.
>For vehicles silhouette 3 or smaller and of no particular importance (a common TIE fighter or a landspeeder full of faceless thugs for example), it simply explodes, killing the pilot and any passengers. Alternately, at the Game Master's discretion, the vehicle could simply be disabled.

That's not to say you're not in deep shit if you're sitting waiting for the fight to end before somebody comes up to finish you off, but it's not quite as bad.

>Is there any vessel you would reccomend?
I'd recommend a Trandoshan Shave ship, the HCT-2001 comes to mind. Most of the pirate ships you see are Gozantis, so I'd be nice to hear about other types of ships that can be used for piracy.

Which is better of these two x-wing lists? I like ruthlessness and have been needing an excuse to run multiples of it.

Scimitar squadron pilot - TIE shuttle, fleet officer, tie mk.ii
Glaive squadron pilot - tie/D, ion cannon, predator
Glaive squadron pilot - tie/D, ion cannon, predator

Or

Scimitar squadron pilot - TIE shuttle, fleet officer, tie mk.ii
Glaive squadron pilot - tie/D, ion cannon, ruthlessness
Glaive squadron pilot - tie/D, ion cannon, ruthlessness

Our meta isn't very current with the national meta, but there are lists like dengaroo, super crewed bossk, one triple jumpmaster, and a few swarms.
>>
>>48045138
>>48045302
Beware the offshoot Trandoshan sect known as The Shavers. They hunt wookies with stunners, tranquilizers and nets then shave and weave their pray's hair into trophy bandoliers or trinkets.
>>
>>48045359
I would personally say the first one with Predator, due to the fact that those rerolls will come in handy on every shot the Defender fires. Predator, Lone Wolf, Expose, and any of those kind of cards that have an effect on all your attack rolls for that turn, become much more potent with multiple attacks each round.

That said, Ruthlessness is in that same position. It also affects every attack the ship makes, but is offset by the fact that you need to hit, and it only works if the enemy has multiple ships in R1 of each other. It is quite likely you could end up against an ace list where a 2 or 3 ships are R2+ of each other all game, while a shuttle is running a self-help seminar back in the corner. It will murder a swarm, however. Or anyone keeping their ships in a tight formation, such as a fortress setup.

So I say the first one. But try out the second one anyways, because it looks fun too!
>>
>>48045892
That was my thinking as well. Ruthlessness will only trigger if I end up hitting., meanwhile I'm able to barrel roll, or use my focuses for defense.

One thing I could do is use a target lock in place of predator, since I'm getting focus tokens from the shuttle.

Either way, maximum hits predator comes out on top, but maximum damage ruthlessness might trump depending on my opponent. The possibility of 4 unavoidable damage is tantalizing, however.

Another obvious drawback to ruthlessness is that if you do end up getting within range one of the opponent, you're going to be doing damage to your other ships. It basically forces you to stay out of range 1, or else you're just going to be attacking with one ship.

Specifically, the sort of used ships that a down on their luck party might find at a disreputable dealership in the outer rim. Strange uglies, weirdly modified Correlian freighters, anything goes- and the more deranged and damaged the better.

HWK-290. Badly damaged, and in need of some repairs. A list of previous owners 5 pages long.

An X-Interceptor ugly. Thing looks like it could fall apart in the middle of a fight. ...is that duct-tape...?

A crazy-ass looking 1-off ship made by MandalMotors. Supposedly dredged out of a swamp, and it certainly looks like it. Seems rather complicated to fly, with articulating s-foil wings. Previous owner redacted. You wonder if it ever went into mass production.

A Z-9 with an extended 2-seater cockpit.

A horrifying mix between a scyk, and a tie fighter. One of the solar panels just fell off.

An Ugly Tie Bomber, with the panels replaced with 4 Y-wing engines, and an R5 wired to the craft's side repeatedly chirping "Kill me..."

A mint condition N-1, painted black.

A red Tie Defender!
With no engine, missing its ion cannons, and missing a solar panel.

A bizarre Ugly B-Wing, where a second B-Wing hull has been expertly welded mirroring the first, on the other side of the cockpit.

An A-Wing, with Y-Wing engines, and a red smear inside the cockpit. One previous owner.

A Trandoshan YV-666 painted bright red, with unreadable white lettering on the sides of the hull near the top.

13 Scyks welded together to form a single, giant, battle-scyk. Previous owner was a Jawa.

A Tie-95. Someone took a Z-95, and replaced the wings with Tie Fighter solar panels. The outside of it is a mess of wires and fail.
>>
>>48047079

Something that looks like someone took a gungan submarine and added fusion thrusters, a hardwired astromech and a hyperdrive to it. The hyperdrive looks bolted on almost as an afterthought compared to the other modifications.

A TIE fighter with it's solar panel tops and bottoms bent 45 degrees inwards and all painted black with a paint best suited for painting houses. The seller swears on his mothers grave it is THE Tie Fighter Darth Vader flew at Yavin.

A Clone Wars vintage Y-Wing with removed engine covers, flames painted along the remaining armor plates, the thrust lever knob replaced with a metallic skull and a pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the canopy

A Z-95, with an extra pair of wings attached via door hinges, with the dome of a busted up R2 unit welded to the hull behind the cockpit. Painted red, with "FUCK YEAR, X-WING!" written on the side.

A HWK-290 with one previous corporate owner, low light yearage, upper business class quality upholstry, and it's priced five thousand credits under market value.
Upon closer inspection you'd notice that there's a very heavy cleaning chemical smell through out the cabin, the carpeting has been ripped out, and if the party asks the retailer which company originally owned the ship he drops another 500 credits off of his asking price.

Do I understand crossing specializations?

If I want to take a specialization in another career tree, it's the number of specializations x10 +10 exp. So the first specialization costs 20 exp total.

If I have a specialization bought, and want to buy another in that same tree, I have to spend 2x10 + 10, or 30 total.

For specializations in your career tree, the cost is the number denoted below the specialization. Is this right?
>>
>>48052026
One with a short and fat engine grafted onto the top-rear of the cockpit, angled slightly down. Some Core Galaxy Systems turbo-fusile booster with the wiring and power systems expertly finished. Docking clamps with thick sharpened spikes replacing the magnet pads.

The seller says that the engine is for hauling outsized loads mounted under-hull. The thick grease, unidentifiable organic material, and claw marks all over the lower part of the ship allowed a good 900 cred discount. It's a steal.

However, the ship is painted a bright dayglo orange, and the SSN and likeness of the ship is wanted by a cabal of Gand mystics who claim the ship belonged to poachers who used it to abduct rancors, as well as very sacred creatures for sale to the wealthy in search of pets.

They just want proof that the ship was destroyed with extreme prejudice.
>>
>>48052583
Not quite.

The specialization you take during character creation is what determines your career. Your second specialization (the first one you actually have to purchase) costs 20 XP, the third one costs 30, and so on. Any time the specialization you're buying isn't in the same career as your first spec, it adds 10 XP to the cost.

Example:
>Assassin (bounty hunter) buys Gadgeteer (bounty hunter) = 20 XP
>Assassin (bounty hunter) buys Pilot (smuggler) = 30 XP
>>
>>48052583
Not quite. When buying any specialization, the base number of XP will be X*10, where X is the number of specializations you will have total with the new specialization. So a second specialization (first one bought after the one you start with from just making a character) will have the base number of 20xp, third will be 30xp. And then if it's an out of career specialization that isn't labeled as Universal, you add the +10xp. So if your second specialization is in-career or something like Force-Sensitive Exile, 10xp doesn't get tacked on, but if it's in Seeker when your career is Bounty Hunter, it does.

I'm not sure what you mean but numbers denoted under specializations in career trees. The only trees are specializations, and force powers and Signature Abilities, and the content in those are talents and upgrades, respectively. If you're talking about the XP amounts listed on each talent/upgrade box, then yes, those are the costs of each.

Anyone psyched for the new ace pilot set?

At the same time, I feel like this is a good time to ask: what is the point of TIE Bombers/Punishers? I will admit I'm relatively new to the game, and I've yet to see them in use. Looking at their point costs, and the cost of nearly every missile, torpedo, and bomb in the game, I just don't see how they'd be worth their points.

Ordnance makes short work of large-base ships. The Defender is an excellent starfighter - the value of a 3/3/3/3 statline cannot be understated, the White k-turn is great, and the new X/7 title give you up to a 2-point EPT essentially for free.

You could say the same for non-TLT Y-Wings and torpedo B-Wings. Missiles & Torpedoes pack a wallop just by being ~4-dice attacks without defensive range bonuses before you add in their specific bonus, and bombs take some learning to use consistently but you don't get to roll greens against bombs. They're also beefy ships that take concentrated fire to bring down with any expediency.

Like lots of ships, what makes the Tie Bomber & Punisher truly nasty are the unique pilots. Tomax with Concussion Missiles & infinite Crack Shots is even more consistent than TLT's, or if you use him as a shuttle, you can get an insane combo with Cool Hand, Fleet Officer and Systems Officer to give the rest of your ships all the tokens. Redline with FCS means you always have a lock on your target, you get to use the second lock to re-roll flubbed dice on your ordinance attacks, and then immediately re-acquire the double lock. Redline is the guy that super-deaths aces and large ships if they let him get a shot off. Deathrain is just hilarious.

At the highest level of play where squad builds are super-optimized, 4 points goes a long way so it's better off invested in something that isn't a one(or two)-and-done card. That doesn't mean it has no place in competitive play, consider also that until recently with Guidance Chips, ordinance wasn't worth the points pretty much any time, so a lot of people are used to playing X-Wing without considering it as part of their setup. Also, Punishers & Bombers look great flying around on the table.

Just picked mine up last night at my FLGS. X-Wing night was "all veterans, all the time!" I saw at least 3 Countesses flying (includinf my own), Tomax sporting Crackshot and ALL THE ORDNANCE, and new super-defenders on every table.

It was awesome!

I like Countess Ryad. I blundered with her, and fucked her in a maneuver by taking it at 2-speed K-Turn and forgetting about the x7 when I set the dial... She ate a shit ton of fire that turn from two Delta x7s and Omega Ace. But despite exploding spectacularly, she is a lot fun to fly.

Ok guys, I have a session tonight and writer's block. You're my only hope.

The party of a royal prince and Jedi, his less than secret lover and bodyguard Twi'lek, and a propagandist droid have found out the Republic is doing some shady shit and now is building the Death Star from plans they stole from a Sith Lord using funds from the Sepparatist war chests. They let the Sith Lord go with the deal being he gave them the location of the Death Star, and they are about to find out Mace Windu is dead and they are literally hours from Order 66.

What are some good directions to go from here? I was thinking the party would get the news that the republic is falling and Yoda recommends investigating the Death Star and steering clear of the republic "no matter what".

Then they face a republic fleet trying to kill hem at the 1/4 build Death Star, fight the Sith Lord as he tried to take the station back, and receive order 66 at the climax along with everything else going on at once.

Any other ideas to flesh this out better would be appreciated.
>>
>>48058116
They could try splitting up to lose the republic forces, and all make it there on their own? Or, have one team divert the republic attention while the other investigates the Death Star

HERE YA GO

"After revisiting all of the previous card-by-card FAQ rulings, we realized that R4 Agromech did not actually follow this order. Since the cost to perform a secondary weapon attack occurs before the target becomes the defender, if the attacker spends a focus token to perform the attack, there is not yet a defender to acquire a target lock on. This has a few side effects as R4 Agromech no longer interacts with Blaster Turret or Deadeye. It still provides the effect of a focus and target lock for an attack, just in a less efficient order."

>>48059062
No more hiding behind a pile of Evade Tokens. It doesn't affect Focus, but you can no longer spend more than 1 focus and 1 evade token during the modify attack/defense step. So having 3 evade tokens means you can only use one of them each time you defend (not all 3 against one attack).

So... Illicit Cloaking Device and Stygium Particle Accelerator got a (slight) buff. Meaning, you get to keep it for the next round.

Simple Green is your friend. If you ever fuck up, just give the ship an overnight bath and it'll be sparkly clean in the morning. And just like other tabletop miniatures, washes are your friend as well.
Also, my suggestion for doing clean linework is to find some sort of painter's tape. I got a roll of Tamiya masking tape for miniatures, which is about 1/4" wide, but I use an X-acto knife to cut that into strips about 1mm wide. It can get a bit fiddy trying to get a 1mm thin strip of tape securely onto a multi-surfaced miniature ship exactly where you want it to, but if I can do it even with my giant hands, I'm sure you can do it too. It just takes some time, patience, and ideally a needle or something strong but thin to help set the tape securely, and perhaps a pair of needle-nose tweezers to manipulate the strip in tight spots.

Would taking Tactician as a primary career and Heavy as a secondary career break the game?

It seems like it could possibly be overpowered.
>>
>>48061778
It's kind of irrelevant to bring up a post-Reformation Jedi Knight to justify a Clone Wars era character.
>>
>>48062208
Specializations. And Tactician's big talents are mostly ways to aid your allies in giving them bonus actions and Advantage, and Heavy's big talents just make it easier for you to carry and use a big Auto-Fire gun. So no, not overpowered at all.
>>
>>48059345

Thing is, who even did that, that needed nerfing? Layton Ashera? Because people were sure taking that a lot!

A-Wings running a list supported by a Jan Ors (crew)? Yeah, sure, that's a build that's sweeping the opens right now.

I mean, why? Did that one guy I spank sideways with Keyan + PTL + Lando with SuperDash with Jan Ors a few years back secretly work for FFG, and he's been coveting revenge ever since?

Everything else makes sense, but that change is completely nonsensical and nerfs NOTHING that needed nerfing.
>>
>>48062657
A Tactician seems like a bodyguard with better mobility and leadership skills. Wouldn't that be OP with the kind of damage a heavy can put out?
>>
>>48059305

Also, this is FFG literally just giving up on Blaster Turret. They are straight up saying "Okay, nevermind about Blaster Turret, just take Dorsals on Kavil I guess?"
I think the changes to FireCon and Gunner are really intended to be nerfs to the Ghost+Phantom+TLT combo. However, as people have pointed out, it does absolutely hammer the usefulness of Cluster Missiles as a consequence. So hopefully Wave 9 will come with some Range 1-2 Missiles that will fill that slot.

Honestly, some of these nerfs and changes feel like their trying to perform keyhole surgery with a chainsaw. There is a LOT of collatoral damage going on.
>>
>>48062717
Depends on how your GM would play it, but logically, if somebody (a PC) is mowing down tons of your (an NPC) allies, NPCs will likely focus fire on you, the one doing the damage, and not the guy your spending strain/maneuvers on Bodyguard to protect.

Not to mention that you using Bodyguard digs into your Strain, which means you'll be using more Advantage to recover Strain spent and less on more hits dished out on Auto-Fire, which means your damage potential will start dropping. And as for mobility, Swift is nice, but it isn't the biggest thing unless you're constantly fighting amongst weird terrain outdoors, and even then, if somebody is moving away from you, you still get damage boosts from Barrage if they move into Long or Extreme.
>>
Besalisks have four arms. Therefore, they can duel wield two handed weapons, like heavy blasters. Is this correct?

>>
>>48063459
It's a narrative driven game so RAW is trumped by logic. If your group is ok with it, then there is no problem. You'll have to deal with the issue of not being good for anything else but combat since you're going to have to deal with the cumbersome penalties but with some weapon attachments and sufficient Brawn you could make yourself into a walking gun placement.

If I were your GM I would consider letting you do this, with some drawbacks. Say, penalize you by drawing attention when carrying heavy weapons in public places.

Duel wielding seems unlikely. The recoil from two heavy weapons would unbalance any Besalisk. But I'd allow using heavy weapons than usual since four arms make for more handholds.

Want your opinion on this /tg/ because my table is divided.

I ran a game before TFA came out based about 10 years after RoTJ and wanted to pick it back up, now closer to 15-20 years after.

Part of my group wants me to include things from TFA including the new order and how things went for the new republic. This would make me have to rewrite a lot of campaign notes, actually read or watch the new lore and more or less break what we were doing in my game.

Only 2 of the 5 seem willing to ignore the stuff going on in universe, while the others do not want to as they have sunk time into looking up and like the new stuff.

>tl;dr
Am I just a complete cunt if I ignore the TFA and other new media as it would be too much of a pain in the ass on my end and because I have not put the effort into looking at new lore because it just did not interest me?
>>
>>48068896
The new lore is quite frankly trash and not great for a RPG campaign.
Some of it you could patch over; the First Order works just fine as "yet another warlord splinter kingdom", and there's always room for new ship designs, a local resistance against said warlord kingdom and such
>>
>>48068896
No, you wouldn't be a cunt. You're the GM. It's your campaign and the amount of research the players did likely pales in comparison to the effort you probably put into campaign setup.

Besides, a lot of the events in nucanon involved decision-making that require lots of the people involved to be uncharacteristically retarded and incompetent. Nucanon also still lacks the wealth of detail and good/varied tech design that Legends has.

Hate to be that guy, Anon, but it depends.

Are any of the 3 who want TFA stuff likely to flip their shit when you tell them that you made an executive ruling against the majority in the interest of campaign integrity? If so, you may want to approach things differently.

For example, are any of the three good GMs? It could be interesting if you had a canon split of your own, where the same characters from the old game exist in both timelines: TFA and non-TFA. You know what I'm saying?

Find a polite way to tell them "If you don't like it, make your own campaign." It could give you a break as GM after you're done with your current game, give you a chance to be a player, and give the other three a place where their preference to abide by TFA and new media is followed.

Sorry if this isn't very cohesive. It's very late where I am and I need to sleep.

Really isn't much background info for TFA. Like the bulk of pertinent info is really in the movie itself, with bits and pieces in the visual dictionary and the prequel novel. This means a few things. So there really isn't much to catch up, which means your players griping about learning new canon and wanting to put it to use, didn't have much to really do; but also it means if you want to catch up, it shouldn't take long. And similarly, it's empty. The players make like elements, but there aren't much besides those handful of elements right now. Essentially it means you have full freedom right now to craft whatever you please, since it's a blank slate, but that potentially means a big extra truck load of work since while there's little to catch up on, you instead are doing a ton of heavy lifting in converting EU stuff and/or building things fresh, not to mention re-doing your campaign notes.

So it's up to you. You could stick to what you've got and can just tell them there isn't much there to the timeframe in new canon yet, and say that maybe you'll set up a new game in that canon later on, or you could just start working on making your own Frankenstein's monster-ed canon.

Seems likely. The other thing I'm guessing based on their changes is that Imperials will get a ship with a turret upgrade. This is because with the new rules ruthlessness+TLT wouldn't be broken as all hell.

Though as a guy who loved running Kanan with Lando, I am really goddam sad about it.

Overall I like the FAQ update though. Clears up a lot in the game.

Also don't underestimate the nerf to agromech (and it is a nerf, previously they grandfathered it in in the FAQ). It gets rid of the best combo which was agro with protons into Boba. No more 97% chance to get four hits. Also using overclocked prevents use of the white s-loop into another torpedo shot. Also their turrets are now going to be garbage in the end game, no longer the super accurate death dealers they used to be.

They'll still be decent, but they're going to be a lot more ungainly. I'd say take one to back up some other scum ships now rather than three.

>>48065182
Normally I'd agree with you, but guess what: they're already at the printer. Have been for a while in the case of HotR, and early production models are already in existence. IV was "in development" for fucking ever. So yeah, early October seems likely.

Also I'm guessing that the huge lack of news between IV and HotR is because they're changing when they preview stuff to later on in development.
>>
>>48068896

What is it that they like about the nucanon?

As another anon side, you could fold the TFA canon into yours somewhat well, making the first order an imperial splinter group, making Jacen turn to the dark side early and take up the name Kylo Ren, but at the end of the day, it's your call.
>>
>>48068896
>>48069372
Very true, anon. A table divided cannot stand.

So to echo what others have said: have some real talk with your players. What about the new canon do you want to see? If I don't include it, will that bother you? We're already basically doing an AU of Star Wars, what does it matter which version?
