Jalira, Braids, Mayael, Rakdos, Xenagos, Azusa
>>
>>47819006
You can go infinite mana and infinite combos with just artifacts man. Unwinding Clock + Myr Turbine + Time Seive with enough myrs to just infinite turns. Infinite mana requires almost the same thing but with unwinding clock + myr turbine and some mana rock.

Anyone got suggestions for token creature generators for Prossh?
I picked up Orochi Hatchery recently, have Mycoloth, Avenger of Zendikar, Dragon Broodmother, the red 1/1 elemental tempting card, doubling season and primal vigor.

Thanks!
>>
>>47819308
Yeah. Colorshifted Braids (the blue one) only exists in an alternate universe version of Dominaria where she never became part of the Cabal. A lot of legendaries in the Time Spiral block are from alternate universes.
Planar Chaos-esque block with colorshifted planes and legendaries never ever
>>
>>47819181
Drop Braids turn 2 on the play with Dark Rit or Sol Ring, watch everyone sac their only land.
>>
>>47819396
There is nothing wrong with that, especially with my group.

>>47819368

>>
>>47819448
The Weatherlight and Dominaria lore stuff can be a clusterfuck, with all the novels and shit. Things get more streamlined once you hit post-mending, which is after Future Sight. The lore nowadays is ehh tier, but it's gotten us some good stuff.
>>
>>47819312
You got Fresh Meat, parallel lives, sprout swarm?

Also worm harvest is good, depending on whether you run life from the loam effects etc.
>>
>>47819145
The point is that I don't want to do infinite combos, period.
>>
>>47819209
Oh, because he animates lands? Because as a former lullmage, he does feel UW.

But yeah, shit is a GU mechanic.
>>
>>47819507
>Point is you don't want to do infinite combos, period.

I play with tryhards, I will take any infinite combo I can get
>>
>>47819448
I don't necessarily agree with the Braids ban, but that is the reason. Personally I think she's a great example of a card that is only broken because of the RC's refusal to ban Sol Ring/Mana Crypt.
>>
>>47818800
TSP was solid overall though

Except for Grandeur being almost useless in EDH and underwhelming otherwise
>>
>>47819600
I love Granduer. Excellent design. Not everything can be for EDH. Doubling Chant is an amazingly cool card, even if it sucks in EDH.
>>
Sup lads, I just joined the navy not too long ago, so I was thinking that it would be fun to build a deck with a nautical theme. Stuff like Hannah ship's navigator, lighthouse chronologist, star compass, that kind of stuff. But I have no idea where to start or even what would make a good commander. Any ideas?
>>
>>47819662
That's a fair point
>>
>>47819501
Working on getting parallel lives, thinking about sprout swarm (thanks for the idea!) and fresh meat now.
>>
>>47819181
Fast mana her on turn 1 and watch everyone who didn't start with a Sol Ring/Mana Crypt weep as they can't play shit. I would happily accept her unban if Ring took her place or some shit.
>>
>>47819368
>Planar chaos-esque block with colorshifted planes
Holy shit why has Wizards not done this? Did the Time Spiral block not do well or are they just being cucks and not doing something like it again?
>>
>>47819662
There is an infinite combo involving Baru, where you create a copy of him and then bounce and you can discard him to the copy. I don't remember the names of the cards that do it, but google has the forum threads. Just interesting that the least commander useful mechanic has an infinite combo.
>>
>>47819676

>>47819746
It could be really fun to do an alt-history Ravnica with versions of various characters who joined different guilds than their canon counterparts. Maybe keep one of the colors, like a Rakdos Tbor and Lumia or a Selesnya Jarad.
>>
>>47819915

Good thinking
>>
>>47819915
Or an Innistrad with enemy color pair tribals
>WB zombies (a la thrulls)
>UR spirits (more violent, almost elemental spooks)
>BG vampires (instead of vampire houses, they're vampire tribes)
>RW humans (Inquisitions up the ass)
>GU werewolves (artificially created mutation instead of naturally ocurring curse)
And maybe some other planes with alternate continuities.
>>
>>47819746
Time Spiral had a lot of references to past stuff that the new players (at the time) wouldn't have gotten. The block was a love letter to the early years of Magic, especially the first set, and it didn't rake in new players

In my experience the tokens prossh makes are usually enough to get there. 6 is a lot, especially when you can sacrifice prossh to some dank sac outlet and replay him for 8 then 10 ect ect. That being said, Xenagos the Reveler and Chancellor of the Forge are both great for tokens.
(Pic related are what I use for kobolds since wizards never made any official ones, generates maximum butthurt in the correct circumstances)

>>47820973
insurrection, viscera seer, smothering abomination, act of agression, sadistic hypnotist, mulldrifter, deadeye navigator, both the red and blue primodials, both charms (grixis and crosis), dread bore, hero's downfall and cruel ultimatum, for starters. gimmie a sec to copy and post what i'd do with the deck, because you are all over the place. just a suggestion, but let me show you
>>
>>47821088
The guildgates are also in the other two RTR expansios, he's probably better off choosing a legend and buying singles. Unless he's aiming to maybe pull a Ral Zarek or Voice.

So when I found out that Scarecrow was a creature type I'd always wanted to build a deck with them. So I'm looking to build a Reaper Kong deck, and since I'm super cheap and not in a position to blow gobs of shekels, I wanted to go budget.

I found what appears to be a nice budget list on mtggoldfish,

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/budget-commander-reaper-king

And was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on upgrades. Looks like there's not too many stellar scarecrows, so the deck tries to fake it a bit with changelings and the like.

I've been thinking about throwing together a Niv-mizzet deck. Is there any fun stuff to run with him or does he get auto hated for the curiosity combo? Pic unrelated.

Though if my opinion counts for anything, Dragon's Maze is more fun to draft than SOI, meaning EMN might also follow the same pattern.
SOI also had less EDH staples, same for Origins. Trend seems to suggest sets are gonna be less fun in my opinion .

Can I get /tg/'s thought on these two decks I made? I really like Stitcher Geralf but realized he might not be extremely effective in mono blue, considering the very good black zombies.

Mono Blue Geralf
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/stitched-back-together/

BU Grimgrin
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sewn-back-together/

I really like the synergy between the two siblings in the Grimgrin deck but considering I'm trying to keep it under 100$ for now, this is proving to be quite a challenge.
>>
>>47827871

Shadows has some Fantastic potential for staples.

Playable bi lands

Nahiri is looting, removal, and drops a bomb into play

Traverse the Ulvenwald is basically another Worldly Tutor

Declaration in stone is insane

Restless Dead is fantastic

Cryptolythic Rite is basically a modern Earthcraft

Eerie Interlude is another Ghostway

To the Slaughter is fantastic

Anguished Unmaking is also fantastic

Second Harvest is going into every token deck

Altered Ego is stupid good

Gitrog Monster is a staple

Descend upon the Sinful is a better final judgement

Seasons Past is nuts

Ulvenwald Hydra is fixed prime time

There are other cards that will easily see play

I've personally never seen a Grimgrin deck yet, maybe it's like that at your LGS, maybe not.
Stay away from Zombie tribal. Get recursion dudes, that's important.
Bloodsoaked Champion, Reassembling Skeleton, Bloodghast, Gravecrawler (in your list) come to mind.
You're gonna want to go fast with Grimgrin to make the most out of him.

I didn't realize that no decks in the history of edh, especially not GUx, have ever used any clones ever besides Phantasmal Image. Why would anyone, epseically GUx, want with an uncounterable clone that has the potential to be huge?

Random thought: I bought a box of New Phyrexia long ago when I was a broke college student, it was probably one of the best investments into my MtG gaming. I went back through it and there are so many commons and uncommons worth a few bucks. Basically any phyrexian mana card (fucking gitaxian probe), blighted agent, glistener elf, beast within, mindcrank, deceiver exarch. If I hadn't traded the 3 Karn's and 2 spellskites I pulled before modern was a thing I would probably own a mana crypt.

It's so fucking annoying. He's the only one that has most of the good shit from EMA and wanderer is his favorite commander. He has 2 normal Wanderer edh decks, one of which is worth more than what I paid for my car. Now, he gets to use him in this shitty format.

Jokes on him, though. Found a familiar combo that he hates. Sun Titan and Animate Dead. With Aiyli as the commander, I can easily get infinite life with Sifter of Skulls. Really, the lesser of evils.

My condolences, I have no idea why someone who wants to play a commander who is as busted as maelstrom wanderer would go full retarded and try and place format restrictions on people

In my opinions the only real way to enjoy this format is to find a power level your play group can all enjoy and then just self limiting your deck building so it doesn't go beyond that point
>>
>>47832991

We're actually at a power level we all enjoy, which is pretty high powered actually. Like, we've played at other places an hour or two away and there was no contest. We're not 5c hermit druid T2 gg-no-re levels, but the kiddie gloves have long come off. I actually took apart some of my decks because they were too consistent. I loved playing them, but my group didn't. I could've kept them, but idk.

Qucik question /EDHCG/, How do I build a Selvala, Explorer returned deck?
I usually play combo decks in UR, RUG,and BU, but I recently decided to try something new, but I kinda don't know how to.
Any Tips?
Should I just play Edric instead?
Are there any infinite combos with this general/any I can put into the deck?
>>
>>47833100
I am a combo player at heart. My main deck, Jarad, is semi-retired due to being too consistent for my group. I have a tutorless Intet Dragonstorm deck to scratch my combo itch while not making games unfun for the rest of the table. When facing some high power opponent's though, I still love to bust out Jarad.
>>
>>47833208
stop being a casual and learn to play colors that don't involve U. in EDH using U is a crutch
>>
>>47833284

I enjoy combo for sure, but I had purposefully built a few without infinites to prove I didn't need it. Best one was Liliana, which was just a grindy hand destruction deck that eventually won by forcing an Emblem. I was specifically told by one guy that he hated it, which was a compliment to me, but I didn't want to play it much anymore.

My best deck though, was Saffi. Hands down. It was super quick, super resilient, had answers to everything, and was fun and interactive. However, constant tweaking made it too consistent.

Idk, man. I might put it back together. Then again, I have played once in the last month and a half, so who knows.

So I've done a few drafts of Eternal Masters and watched a few more from others and one deck I think is really sweet is the izzet Burning Vengeance deck. I figured there may be a way to build a commander deck around the concept of flashbacking spells, so I sketched a rough outline of what it might look like. The point is to cast a bunch of spells with flashback and retrace to trigger Burning Vengeance for board control and to the face, as well as whatever else there is in terms of spellslinging payoffs like Shu Yun, Jeskai Ascendancy, Talrand, Young Pyromancer, Monastery Mentor and so forth. What do y'all think and what else would work well in here?

>>
>>47838052
>How is Disciple of the Vault + Phyrexian Metamorph + Sharuum the Hegemon an infinite combo? Can someone please explain?
Have Metamorph enter as a copy of Sharuum. Legend Rule goes into effect before the ability triggers and you sacrifice the real Sharuum. Then Metamorph Sharuum's ETB ability triggers and you return the real Sharuum. Legend Rule goes into effect and you sacrifice Metamorph. Then Sharuum's ETB ability triggers and you return Metamorph as a copy of Sharuum. You can repeat this process indefinitely. As you repeat it, each time either Sharuum or Metamorph dies, Disciple of the Vault will trigger, meaning that if you choose to repeat the process indefinitely you can put enough Disciple triggers on the stack to kill your opponents, provided they don't have hexproof or something.

>>
>>47838247
Go with Godo. Neither of them are that great, but Godo can at least fetch some good equipment and get you extra combat steps.

It's a shame there aren't better mono-red samurai for Godo to have fun with. As it is now the best mono-red samurai is Taurean Mauler.
>>

Godo is spectacular you mong. Two combat steps and a ton of equipment being combat relevant makes him incredibly powerful. Easily one of the most consistent and deadly of red generals aside from Purphoros and Daretti.

I meant not that great compared to Purphoros, Daretti, Krenko, Feldon, and Norin. He's still one of the better mono-red commanders though, just not on the same level as those others.

Seething Song. Mana Geyser can be good, but is very dependent on your group. Desperate/Pyretic are solid, but not too exciting. >>
>>47840807
I don't recall the specifics of what's in them, but Meren is a strong commander, I think the strongest of the new ones.
>>
>>47840807

The deck is very strong. I was play testing it fresh out the box and wound up with an army of 100/100s
>>
>>47840606

34 isn't even that high for a creature themed deck, just above average

When you start approaching 42 you have an extreme distribution of card types
>>
I'm building Gitrog right now, how can I make it fun and not too strong? My meta is pretty casual, but I really like the idea of playing with lands and the gy.
>>
>>47840920
And I have built a deck of ~45 creatures and wanted to add more, but was unable to find spells to cut. Granted, that was Grenzo and I wanted to maximize the chances of him hitting when I used his ability blind.
>>
so my EDH deck is kind of hardcore, probably around 1200-1500 dollars in the deck.

So I found out recently about a local shop that plays on tuesdays, One of my friends that plays there seemed to imply it was pretty casual.

The question I have is, am I going to seem like a dick for showing up with a deck that has some pretty good stuff, I've avoided game breaking combos, but there is very little jank in the deck.
>>
>>47841167
If your deck's fair and fun to play against anyways, I say give it a whirl, just be prepared to maybe take it a little easy or start thinking on a softer deck.

I did the pucatrade meme. I would wait til you have around ~500 dollars in cards built up that you want rid of. Buy the gold, trade everything. Spend all your points and get out as soon as possible.

They put all of the trade options you want behind a paywall, I don't really think its something that you want to do long term, its more I have this big ass pile of value I need rid of and there are a few staples I need.
>>
>>47841029
Casual land fall with some reanimation. I did the same thing with my frog to play with new players and try not to scare them off from edh. Bunch of death touch small fries.

Sad thing is gitrog alone can make even a casual deck with limited synergy play out decently with luck of the draw.
>>
>>47841380
Gold, as in the gold membership, do not buy pucapoints.
>>
>>47841380
Oh I didn't know there was more to it then sending off cards and getting points. Fuck that whole noise if there's any kind of money involved other than materials for shipping costs.
>>
>>47841380
It can also a good place to flip foils you don't want, too. I never got much out of Puca but it did help me get rid of foil full arts I'd never use.
>>
>>47841421
The reason why you do the gold membership is, it lets you limit the countries you trade with and you can set price caps for trades.

I got burned pretty bad on a trade from greece, near mint appearing cards, that smelled horribly of cigarettes. I never had a problem with trades from US and Canada, most people take pretty good care of how they ship cards.

If you have any questions about pucatrade, I'll answer what I can.

>Drafted it and won a single prize pack
>Toxic Deluge
>Ashnod's Altar
>Deathrite Shaman
>That's it

I've accepted it's a complete gamble, but I'd rather just pay for the singles at this point.

>canada
Be careful, there are three types of canadians out there:

>Normal, Reasonable Canadian
These people will keep their cards in pristine condition and generally sell at market value, with clear cut shipping conditions. FacetoFace comes to mind, they're reputable and awesome to get things from.

>French Canadians
Generally pretty good, but beware of their wrath. Hit or miss in general, they can either be awesome or awful, read seller reviews carefully.

>Vancouver Shitposters
The jewiest of the jews. Everything will be slightly under market value with outlandish shipping charges. Beware, there also exists a toronto sub-type that will do the same thing. The cards are generally in good condition, or clearly advertised not to be in good condition, but you may end up paying more than you thought you would.

Obligatory sorry for the issues.

You can send cards to people and recieve cards for free, if you want to receive foils you need to pay a sub, i was a gold member for 1 year traded all my standard jank for about 7 edh decks no issues except with the post office machine sorter eating a few cards, its safe to use i just block sending/recieving from south america, asia and other shit teir countries

Dont trade for cards that are in demand like staples because you will just sit there with points and nobody will send you anything unless you offer a "bounty" ie paying more points than its worth
>>

shipping costs are incurred totally by the sender. and care value is set arbitrarily consistent across the site.

My buddy let me go through his box and stack up all his value cards. Bout $350 all together. He wants to go to a store and try to get cash but I told him he's highly unlikely to get even half the value in store credit let alone cash.

Not sure he'd even be into going through the hassle of packing a hundred different cards while dumping money into shipping materials.

I've got about s hundred bucks in extra shit from standard I'm thinking about doing puca but you raise another concern with having to deal with international shipping

Got any feedback for me? I know my manabase is shit, but I just wasted a ton of money on lands for my Reaper King deck, and I don't feel like blowing $50 more.

I never personally shipped outside of the US. I tended to only send cards in bulk or singles over 10 bucks.

I didn't want to be that guy when it came to shipping so I always shipped in a bubble wrap enveloped, sleeved card, in a slotta. I also tended to insure or get tracking on anything over 50+.

Look for people who want multiple cards, us postage is like $1.25 to anywhere so dont just send 10c commons to bumfuckistan find people who want at least $5-10 worth currently ive send over 186k points worth of shit locally and internationally and only once has something gone missing and puca still gave me my points back anyway
>>
>>47841592
For me it was the only option, people at the lgs's didnt have the cards i wanted either did the stores and i didnt want to ebay them in he hopes i could find them for sale, puca was fairly painless i just picked up some bulk slips, card protectors, envelopes and probaly $50 in stamps and offloaded everything, was a shitload cheaper than just buying the singles from ebay

You simply put Panglacial wurm into it and draw cards while searching your library. Just be careful the universe dosen't break
>>
LGS owner picked up a set foil Pepe today and wants to make him, so I've taken up the challenge of breaking the shit out of Pepe. Aside from the usual GB goodstuff, I've also happened upon a hilarious pseudo-infinite combo.

>Pepe + Skirge Familiar
>Dredge back Grave Troll
>Land hits the bin
>In response to the draw, discard Grave Troll to make B
>Dredge back Grave Troll
>Repeat until you hit Kozilek
>Then continue

You make infinite black mana so long as you hit a land every 6 cards, which is pretty likely when you're running 35 land. And then there's the other variation:

>Pepe + Lotleth Troll
>Dredge back Grave Troll
>Land hits the bin
>In response to the draw, discard Grave Troll to put a +1/+1 counter on Lotleth Troll
>Dredge back Grave Troll
>Repeat until you hit Kozilek
>Then continue
>When Lotleth Troll is big enough, stop the cycle by drawing
>Float mana and sac land to return Jarad to your hand
>Play him
>Sac Lotleth Troll and wipe the table

Not really a commander card, but I'm hoping you guys can at least steer me in the right direction. Bought one pack of EMA on a whim and got pic related. I feel like I just found a fucking Golden Ticket like from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. How do I go about selling a card as expensive as this without getting fucked over? Are there reputable websites for this where I actually get a good percentage of the card price? I've never bought or sold anything more expensive than a LotV so I'm kind of at a loss.

Trade it to someone for $80 worth of shit based on tcgplayer prices. I drafted and opened one and I sold it to someone before it was even over.

It's foil.
>>
>>47842875
It's hard to sell cards and get market value, I would just keep it in a trade binder and hang around your LGS looking to trade. Pucatrade is an option if your into it but don't expect to be sent anything particularly desirable.
>>
>>47842875
Are you looking to get full retail or sell it quickly?
SCG runs a buylist, but you'll probably only get ~50-60% of its value. If you haven't used Ebay before you can probably auction and get ~80% of its value, but its a pain.
