Even though he's said he doesn't want to come back to Star Wars for a minor part I'd like it if:
They make Wedge an admiral, put him on a Republic ship in conversation with Cokefiend Fisher as much as possible to distract from her awkward acting and to carry the expositiony strategy parts of the film.
Then have him mention Rogue call signs, or make a radio call to Rogue leader.

Alternatively just have someone mention "Admiral Antilles' fleet" being on the other side of the galaxy during a war room scene.

I want the new characters (Rey, Finn, Poe, Phasma, Ben, etc.) to have as much chance at development and screen time as possible, so anything more than a nod to Wedge would be wasted screen time in my unimportant opinion.

We had a pretty good discussion about d6 Star Wars in general, and I'd like to continue that. I only played 1st edition, and I'd appreciate it if you guys could clue me in on how different 2nd ed and Revised & Expanded were. Also, did anybody use the Wild Die, because my group sure as fuck didn't.
>>
>>47744905
Wild die is crucial. It gives the GM similar freedom to what people always tout as a benefit of the FFG games. I always thought its inclusion was one of the big strengths of the D6 system.

Agreed; as much as I like X-Wing, some rpg discussion is welcome.
What are the best d6 modules in your opinion?

For me it's the Darkstryder campaign.
>multiple PCs
>nice supporting cast
>lots of freedom due to being set
>various adventures in tone and setting

WEG produced a ton of good original content for the EU. And never went edgy afaik despite the trends of the period. If anything they kept a nice amount of '70s-'80s goofiness.
>>
>>47746367
DarkStryder was kinda the standout, IMO. A lot of their other best stuff was more sourcebooks rather than adventures
>>
I got two buddies that are interested in the game and are coming to our local shop to check it out and play, what's some good starter lists I should make for them?

The first time they play I recommend running Some sort of x-wing vs TIE fighter thing- no unique pilot abilities, minimal upgrades. And it doesn't have to be a full 100 points either. Something shorter and simplier to help them understand the basic movement/action/shooting that the game is based around.

Imperials- 50-pts
Black Squadron Pilot
Academy Pilot x3

Rebels- 50pts
Rookie Pilots x2
Proton Torpedoes

The second time is where you add in unique pilots and more extensive upgrade cards, and also when you raise the points value up to a full game. I like letting new players use a list where each ship has some combination of a pilot ability and upgrade that make them useful but don't rely heavily on being flown in formation or working together.

Imperials- 100pts
Delta Squadron Pilot
-Ion Cannon
Dark Curse
Commander Kenkirk
-Stay on Target
-Moff Jerjerrod
-Rebel Captive

Rebels- 100pts
Poe Dameron
-Predator
Ten Numb
-Mangler Cannon
Horton Salm
- Twin Laser Turret

They aren't super competitive lists, but each ship does something a little different, and gives players a chance to try out some different ships
>>
>>47745443
Maybe swap r2d6 with just r2 astro but looks fine to me
>>
>>47746367
Darkstryder's awesome but it is pretty railroady at times.

Triggeeing morality.

Im without my book right now, and was wondering if anyone can clarify the effects of triggering morality. If triggered does it act like Duty and Obligation in that it lowers the strain threshold by 2 for the triggered and 1 for everyone else?
>>
>>47748336
No. When Morality is triggered, you make a moral choice directed towards the triggered player, aimed at their emotional strength, weakness, or both. If their choice reflects their strength or weakness, then when at the end of the session, when you see if they increase or decrease their Morality, you double the score. Per RAW, there's no other mechanical option like strain decrease for Obligation or wound increase for Duty if you decide not to alter the story with what was triggered.
>>
>>47748463
>>47748336

Instead, being high or low morality scores affects your Strain threshold.

Um.... okay, so.... turns out the Alliance had a supah secrit supermax prison space station in close orbit to a star where they put captured Imperial officers and like.... creepy pyscho people. Without trial. For years on end..... you know, by the good guys! Also, I think they had it set up so it would fall into the sun if the inmates ever tried to escape?

So Leia goes there to put what's her face evil archaeologist in when 4UUUUU shows up and starts killing the inmates because "THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING LEIA LEIA LEIA I'M OBSESSED WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE ON MY BRIEFING FOR GOING TO KILL PALPATINE IN THE STAR WARS ANNUAL AND ALSO MY FACE IS ALL PIMPLY NOW DESPITE NOT BEING THAT WAY IN THE ANNUAL"

Oh sorry, did I spoil that surprise? Anyway, Leia, Not Mrs. Solo, and the psycho archaeologist team up to kick him and his droid's shit in, Luke and Han show up and get immediately captured, Leia wrestles 4U in zero-G, order is restored, and the supermax is evacuated and left to drop into the sun.

Then these fucks show up. Outta nowhere.

>Even though he's said he doesn't want to come back to Star Wars for a minor part

I keep hearing this and I have to be honest that I think it's pretty shitty of him if it's true. For starters, it's not like he had a huge role in the OT (and it hardly stopped us from loving him, did it?) and as you said the new movies should primarily be devoted to the new characters and their stories. Hell, even the stars of the OT haven't had particularly large roles as of yet (with the exception of Ford and he ended up eating it).

If the guy who played Ackbar was willing to - in his 90s - pretend to be a fishman for a mere couple of minutes of screentime and about as many lines then Lawson can suck it up and play third fiddle in a small but respectful cameo.
>>
>>47749558
>I keep hearing this and I have to be honest that I think it's pretty shitty of him if it's true
to be fair, he's got a ongoing TV show and some other stuff going, so he'd probably have to do a lot of rescheduling and pass up or possibly loose money, and it simply isn't worth it to him to do it for a 30 second bit

Prisoner of war camps aren't a war crime. Since Unless the Republic has *exactly* westfalen definitions of just war, putting Imperials in a prison and not just executing them is appropriate. Wartime rules and all that, but I haven't read the comic. Questionable drop-in-sun security measure not-withstanding.

Unique Imperial hero who uses a lightsaber doesn't seem too crazy, considering the silly shinanegans established in both old-EU and Clone Wars stuff (darksaber, savage opress, darth maul surviving). Although the fact that they've also had the ISB agent arena-master with a lightsaber, Grakkus having a horde of lightsabers, and the cyber-sith with lightsabers removes any impact that could have been had from "oh... this SpecOps Imperial AoR Hero has a lightsaber."

So on a scale of 1 - "Assaj Ventress isn't a Rakkataki anymore" of annoyed to a 10 of "George Lucas Reboots the Original Trilogy with Jar Jar as the main hero" of outrage, this hits about a 4.

Thanks for the commentary. I agree that it's pretty easy to fit them in, especially when I stick to the "purer," combination of the original trilogy ascetic Taoist monk and the Jolee school of dashing and compassionate adventurers.

It's always what I felt the Jedi SHOULD be, and the idea of the bureaucratic and stagnant Order always bothered me--even if it did fit the theme of the Republic falling through decadence and incompetence. Adds a bit of a meta perspective in the sense that I don't think Lucas intended that; the incompetence of the writer is reflected in the thematic incompetence of the Order.

You need survivability. The Advanced Cloaking Device allows you to fire up your cloak after you shoot, but that's only if you have a shot. And it does nothing to help against higher PS ships.
This is why Echo and Whisper so often have Veteran Instincts.

If you're running generics, go with the Stygian Particle Accelerator. Anything lower PS, will have to contend with 4 base attack dice and horrifying reposition options. Anything higher PS, and you at least have action economy with an evade token when you cloak/decloak. Evade, Focus, and 2 Agilty might not seem like a lot... But it does when you pay 4 points for a Sensor Jammer on top of it. 3 phantoms at PS 5 with Stygian PA and Sensor Jammers run a cool 99pts (33 per ship). You can use that last point for initiative bid, or just take an Intel Agent or something. You're just using them as glass sledgehammers that are really good at repositioning and focus firing the fuck out of something. I've fielded two like this with a Defender, and the combination was quite devastating.

First, give them Guidance Chips or Long Range Scanners. Then, don't load them up too much... Reserve a torp slot for Extra Munitions. Take Proton Torps (4pts) if you want an automatic blank/eye to hit (G chip) and eye to crit. Plasma (3pts) if you need a cheap option that burns away things with lots of shields (see ref. Miranda). And Ion if you are willing to pay extra for a control-bomb. Adv. Proton Torps only if you are playing with Rhymer, but he's grossly overcosted.

Missiles are an alternative, with Concussion guaranteeing a respectable 2 blanks into hits. Homing Missile shuts down Evade tokens, and Adv. Homing Missile can possibly 1-shot anything with 2 hull if it hits. Cluster Missiles aren't bad... But are best if you've got ways to modify both volleys. Assault Missiles are "meh" unless up against a Tie Swarm, and Ion Pulse Missiles pretty much exist just to throw two Ion tokens into a big ship.

Bombs are up to you on how you want use them, but you've got the ones that explode that turn, and the ones that sit around and wait for someone to hit then. Cluster Bombs are dumb, as they don't cause crits. Conner Nets are brutal if set up right.

Generally speaking, a scimitar with a torp/missile and extra munitions works well on his own. Gamma Vets in the Veterans pack will give you a generic Deadeye option. And the one named to stay away from, is Rhymer. Unless you really want to pay a bunch of extra points just to play around with range bands.
>>
>>47758492
Lowbies are great with mines, bombs that take actions to drop. Fly over a shio before it moves and bomb them.

Gammas are pretty solid with just proton torps, extra munitions, and chips. 24 points. Against lower generics you should be ok, but it will take fancy flying to catch high PS aces.

Bombers win and lose in the planning phase. Learn your movements, learn your ranges.

That would be my vote. Cluster's alright... But it really only shines against low agility ships, like Y-Wings, Milleniu Falcons, or YV-666s. It also can do a lot of damage against huge ships. But I find more than anythinf, it's best on ad-hoc missile carriers. Like Z-95s (especially N'Dru, Tie Advanced Prototypes, and anything that gets bonuses to multiple attacks. Thanks to Guidance Chips, Concussion Missiles have become my go-to missile for reliable damage against a wide variety of targets.

Jonus also affects all secondary weapon attacks made by friendlies within R1. It doesn't help himself at all, and you still are looking at 3 dice, rerolled, with possibly a focus for one of the rolls. Clusters are alright. But they are pretty lacking against 3 agility ships with tokens. They do alright against 2 agility ships, but they really are best when the opponent can only reliably stop a 1 or 2 of the 6 total dice headed his way.

My order of missile use goes something like this:
-Clusters for big ships with 1-agility, Y-Wings, B-Wings, Punishers, Mist Hunters, K-Wings, and anything else designed to "just take it".

-Concussion is for practically anything, if you're using missiles. It works, it's reliable, and it's throwing enough dice to make 3-agility ships sweat.

-Homing Missile is for when you've had enough with Evade token bullshit, and want to throw some ordnance up Soontir Fel's tailpipe (or Tycho, or a Millenium Falcon with 3 Evade Tokens).

-Advanced Homing Missile is for when you've got 3pts to spare, don't have the 3 agility for Prockets, and/or need some way to reliably deliver a crit.

-Assault Missiles are meh-tier. Only really of value against bugzapper swarms, tie swarms, crackblack swarms, or A-Wing swarms.

Maybe a human Peacekeeper named Arrin Sunn (because subtlety is cool, yo) who left the Imperial military after discovering they were the bad guys. Later realized he had Force abilities, looked for a master/holocron/artifacts and trained a bit to cross spec into Soresu Defender.

Something like that. Kel dor and Iktochi are also really cool.

>>
>>47761299
Pretty bad, fampai.

Your YV has way too many upgrades and secondary weapons. Gunner and Bossk by themselves are a great tag team, adding a bunch of other stuff just makes your expensive ship more expensive without much increase in effectiveness. Maybe throw Zuckuss in there to fuck with people.

Blaster Turret is bad. It takes an action to fire and has no modification outside of taking more actions. Dorsal Turret is a good budget option, TLT if you want long range and reliable damage.

Marksmanship is not great on a ship that can easily acquire focus.

You've got a lot of points in upgrades that are either just bad or simply inefficient. You could run the YV with Palob and swap Kaato for N'dru (Vet Instincts, Homing Missile, Glitterstim, Chips) to deal with high pilot skill and nimble ships that can dodge your arcs.

Saving those points could get you more ships or a named pilot like Bossk.

Why are extra munitions only available on torpedoes and not bombs/missles
>>
>>47763094
He's fine with Blaster. Although he should swap out Calculation for Opportunist on Palob. The reason is because he's got the Moldy Crow and Recce Spec. So he'll have a bank of Focus tokens to work off of. Plus Palob can easily obtain more.

Really though, the Palob Blaster Recon Opportunist combo doesn't need the Crow title, so he could shave that off.

Definitely agree with you on the YV. Removing the HLC will help. I find that the HLC is really only good on Morello. Otherwise Tracto Cannon or cannonless is the way to go (or Mangler on Bossk).
>>
>>47763506
They're available for all those. The upgrade just eats a torp slot.

Kinda frustrating on some ships, yeah... But your designated ordnance ships tend to have at least one (sometimes 2) torpedo slots. The torp-slot limitation on Extra Munitions hurts most on the Firespray, because it locks you into having to take Slave-1 for extra bombs/missiles.
>>
>>47763609
>locks you into having to take Slave-1 for extra bombs
Andrasta, bro. 0 point Title that gives you two additional bomb slots, for a total of 3 bombs.

wait... does that only come with unique pilots? Because all the names have dots and they all seem to have pilot abilities. Kind of taking the wind from my sails here, I was weirdly excited to run a pair of generics as they seem like decently tanky ships with the overhaul. Especially would love to fly them with Y Wings as a "Revenge of the clones" style list.

I dont think we've seen this since the aggressor, which is kind of odd, is this some sort of weird background nod?

Also, that torpedo looks odd. It looks like it says "sensor torpedoes" or something, not to mention it has a really wordy ability, so Im guessing its something tricky.

I dont get it, out of the past two waves, why the hell is THIS the ship I'm excited about?
>>
>>47765223
you can still totally run 2 and 2, and with the right build that might be really good. I kind of like the idea that these are old and rickety enough that they don't bother handing them out to random pilots, and only give them to aces and specialists who have an awareness of the objective.

What I'm really curious about is the tail gunner, Maybe a stealth buff to the Firespray?
>>
>>47765223
I think it's all unique because the refurbished ARC-170s are probably in a more limited supply than the Y-Wings.
>>
>>47765282
I'd expect he gives you the option to fire from both arcs on the same turn, perhaps one at PS and the other at ps 0? That or it causes stress or something.

Only other thing I could think it would be might be giving rerolls out of aux arc.

And I dont know if two Arcs and two Y's will fit if the arcs are all uniques. Y's can get pricey quick, even just warthogs with ions or dorsals aren't cheap. Considering the upgrades, I wouldnt be surprised to see them get nuts quick too. Then again they could turn out to be a poor man's B-Wing and just be designed to plow into the target guns blazing. Here's hoping the ps 3 and 4 play well with others. With a primary arc at 3 and the rear flipping a focus for free to a crit, theyll be nasty if flown right I think. Theyll have to be considering their only other trick is crew+astromech, which will endless shenanigans in its own right

Nope!

E-wings are currently only viable in two circumstances: Corran Horn with a load of upgrades, or Ethan in an epic game where you're using a bunch of scrubs. The generic e-wings cost too many points to be effective in the game as it currently stands. They are due for a fix sometime soon- likely "Rebel Veterans" if FFG gets around to making that in the next year or so. Or some other ship will come with a systems upgrade that suddenly makes them worthwhile (like autothrusters did for Interceptors, except moreso)

Check out the typography on that card and the typography on 'Seismic Charges' - they line up so well that I'm inclined to think they're 'Seismic Torpedoes.' Note also that they're an ACTION, so you fire them during the Activation Phase. I reckon they'll be an attack you make in place of an action which weakens the target, allowing you to turn 1 hit into 1 crit against them during the Combat Phase, or something.
>>
>>47766777
Honestly anything is viable if you're a good player. Here's something I tossed toghter - you could swap CS for VI if you weren't comfortable with moving all your guys at PS3. They definitely need a fix, but nothing in the game is totally unusable.

Finally got off my lazy ass long enough to update XWSOL. The Mandalorians turned out to be far less Australian and a bit more Dacian/Anglo-Saxon/other pre-modern European tribal than anticipated. Also, an attempt was made to distance the era's stormtroopers from their OT counterparts. I wasn't happy with the idea that stormies stayed largely the same after over a century.

if you don't reasonably expect so, would you be willing to at least share vague greentext point-form ideas as to where you were planning to go with it?

They also have no visual enhancement gear whatsoever, wheras old Stormies had full holo-display and HUD to let them see through smoke and darkness.

Of note, however, is the fact the Captain Phasma has all the head-mounted targeting systems you could want, along with actual crushgaunts. And, from the lack of the intake port, probably has pressure seal too.

Makes me wonder if there's some kind of 'elite' stormtrooper armour that serves as a middle ground between the two. I wouldn't be surprised. It gives Disney a new action figure to sell when the new movie comes out ;^)
>>
I really hope someone can help me with this, it came up in our game last night of Imperial Assault.

When spending Surge, most PCs are able to increase their damage, or give themselves a level of pierce. But these seem to be exactly the same thing? Very rarely certain elite NPCs can spend surge to gain Pierce 2, but even then they can still mostly get 2 damage. So what does Pierce do, it seems to be negated by the exact same functionality?
>>
>>47768322
Be kind of neat too if Disney did end up giving their rank and file storm troopers much cheaper gear compared to the OT storm troopers. Because the FO treat their officers like Phasma.as indispensable assets that get access to top of the line protection and expensive weaponry, and their brain washed kidnapped foot soldiers are that much more expendable due to their lower cost and new diabolical recruitment methods.

>>
>>47769836

I dunno, Double Shot on the X-Wing works pretty well for quicker TIE's like the Fighters and Interceptors, whilst Quads I reserve for slower bigger targets like the Bombers and Shuttles and so forth.
Double Shot gives me better rate of fire so I can be more sure of catching them with something.

A-Wings I just doubleshot the whole time with zero fucks.

Tactician for control, Recon for defense, Gunner for offense. I like my phantom to murder all the things, so Gunner for me.

>>
>>47769859
I go all quads all the time because I can't be bothered to stick to a target for more than a few seconds in a furball. Every time I do, I get vaped. Quad-shots usually guarantee that when I get that laser lock beep, it's a quick TIE kill.

And with mouse controls (I lack the storage space and permanency of residence necessary to keep a joystick), targeting and turning are easier than ever. Arm strength is the limit, baby.

As a student who currently has very little storage space and no long-term permanent housing, I can't exactly cart a stick around everywhere I move. I'm still ticked off by the blatant bait & switch, but I still have a soft spot for this shit, as it's the first thing I ever ran. >>
>>47771487

>>
>>47762424
>GM
When he first joined the Rebellion, Admiral Ackbar's first act was to bring together a group of undercover Rebel operatives that had "distinguished" themselves in ways that had labelled them as outsiders, even within the Rebellion. This group would be their last chance t prove themselves; out of gratitude (and maybe a little sarcasm) this group gave themselves a name - Ackbar's Aces!

Plot-wise, I'd run Tattooine Manhunt, then maybe a few little adventures as they try to make their way back to Yavin IV. Thing is, they must've missed the memo about relocating to Hoth...

Hey so just got into x-wing and was looking at cases to hold and transport my minis. Was debating between KR multicase and Feldherr cases. Any suggestions or recommendations?

KR is nice but a bit on the pricey side. Most folks I know just use Plano cases to carry their stuff.

>>
>>47773283
The figures are durable enough that you can get by with Plano or other fishing tackle boxes to carry stuff around, and that's usually a cheaper alternative. For foam stuff, I've really only read about people using various gun cases, and the handgun sized cases are fairly cheap and big enough to carry basically a list worth of miniatures.
>>
>>47773333
>>47773440
Well I appreciate the response, but money is honestly not a big issue. I'm leaning towards Feldherr just because they are on Amazon with Prime was just curious if anyone had any previous experience with them.
>>
>>47773335
>Imma fortress, lel

Yeah... fortressing has been around since the shuttle came out. The only people it makes mad, are kids, and adults with pre-existing anger management issues. Otherwise people just won't bother to play against you, because fortresses aren't much fun to go against. In competitive environments, you might catch a few players off guard with it. But most lists can front load a bunch of damage on one ship and score half VPs. And they aren't too worried about 3 ships with just 3 attack and no ability to dodge attacks.

As they've mentioned, the minis are actually fairly tough, even the ones with dainty bits on them. With mindful packing, even the most delicate of ships will be perfectly fine in a tackle-case.

But if your heart is set on a foam case, I can vouch for Feldherr. My case is for 28mm miniatures, but the foam is soft without being weak, and the case itself is well made. I would imagine similar quality for their X-wing cases.
>>
>>47768043
I'm the original anon you responded to, thanks for making me this list, I will try it out.

The approach is simple; Soontir and Turr do what they do best. Epsilon Leader tries to keep up to help keep Soontir and Turr unstressed as best as possible.

The Academy Pilot.....well, I had the points.
>>
>>47766526
As have a couple ways to get their hits through.
-Proton Rockets or missiles in general
-Juke
-Crack Shot
-blocking with a prototype to deny actions while you jump in with focus/TL shots
>>
>>47774471
You can get pretty much the same effect from the ties by putting Palpatine in Yorr. Personally, I don't like push on Turr since I like shooting first at PS9.
>>
>>47774471
I would make Turr into Carnor jax and epsilon leader into omega leader with the standard suite of com releay plus juke.

On a personal note I strongly prefer targetting computer to stealth device on Fel because he blanks on attacks way too often.

>>
>>47774709
Whisper's good. There's a reason she's one of the "Imperial Aces" you see popping up in lists. Echo's another favorite of mine, although that banking decloak is tricky to use.
>>

>>
>>47776316

>>
>>47776356

>>

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Echo_(TIE_Phantom_Pilot)
at least according to the wiki she is
>>
>>47776316
Not for the barrel roll action, just for the decloaking roll/boost.

But yeah, she's tricky to use. But suprr fun when you've got the hang of her. Most people I see running her prefer the standard PS 8 setup with Advanced Cloaking Device. I've been having a blast with running her at PS 6, and giving her Push the Limit (or Juke), Stygian Particle Accelerator, and Sensor Jammer. Crew is optional, but Intel Agent has been most useful. The idea is cloak, fly in, decloak, take free evade action from Stygian, Push the Limit off the Evade and Barrel Roll or Focus/Target Lock, then activate and reveal green maneuver, remove stress and take maneuver, and use action to roll (if available) or focus. All that, combined with her crazy decloak banks, has resulted in players having no fucking clue where's she's going to end up, even when reacting to her "lowly" PS 6.
>>
>>47776447
This. Echo is definitely female. Nobody knows with Whisper, but a lot of people refer to Whisper as a she.
>>
>>47750635
Yeah, I dunno.

The reboot removed most of the SW fiction I liked from canon (I mostly liked TOR Era Star Wars - I'm weird like that).

Out of the currently canon Star Wars, I like TCW Animated series. Everything else is kindof meh.

Huh.

No it was mostly Dark Horse stuff and some of the new comics.

But largely, I don't don't like the empire all that much, nor the rebels, and prefer to read about different factions instead, like the Sith Empire, or Mandalorians, or what have you.
