This real issues with enchanting are

A) It has a huge Karma investment of Enchanting specific spells, on top of the skill itself.
B) It has inflexible timing rules that make using it to get any 'extra' spells onto a run damn hard. If you are going into a run with drain damage from making the preparations, you might as well have just cast the spells the normal way during the run.
C) It has the shittiest triggering system imaginable, which essentially makes them worthless outside of buffs or self centered concealing illusions to anyone whose GM wont put up with Arrows of Annihilation level engineering bullshit. Don't even get me started on how bad Command Triggering is compared with, say, a fiber optic cable or [Elemental] Grenade.

You would only really have to fix one of these to make Enchanting semi-useful, but under it current rules, you do a more work to get weaker magic with extra restrictions.

So because of Overwatch's Reaper and my love of dual pistols, I was thinking of doing an edgy or/k/. I could use some help with a few parts.
Whats that quality that pairs well with sharpshooter, the one that reduces the called shot penalty to -1 or 0?
Can I use unarmed for a melee attack with my hands full of guns?
Do two called shots incur double penalties?
Do two smartgun systems grant double bonus?

More of an opinion one, whats a good unarmed martial art that pairs well with gun kata?
>>

>What's that quality that pairs well with sharpshooter?
Strive for Perfection

>Can I use unarmed for a melee attack with my hands full of guns?
Nope. Clubs.

>Do two called shots incur double penalties?
Yes.

>Do two smartgun systems grant double bonus?
No.

>martial art
Consider Bartitsu. It uses clubs (which your guns are in CC), and grants you access to Disarm and Riposte which are nice.
>>
>>47605724
You can kick or pistol whip people, so why not. There even are martial arts that give your kicks extra reach.

Multiple smartguns don't stack, of course. You need a smartgun in each weapon for that weapon to receive smartgun bonuses, and you need smartlink over your eyes or in your head for the thing to work at all.
>>
>>47605724
Wouldn't be double bonus imo, you'd need both guns to be smartlink if you wanted to get the bonus on a check to shoot both.
>>
>>47605724

Gun Kata itself exist omae. And it gives you access to all the cool stuff you can do with guns.
>>
>>47605724
>Do two called shots incur double penalties?
Called Shots consume your Free Action, so you can only perform one per combat turn unless you get an extra one from Perfect Time or something.
Bonuses from the same item never stack, except that item modifications are applied after you split the pool.
>>
>>47605779
see, thats what I'm wondering about. Does the wireless smartgun count then, because its to the gun, not to the pool itself?
>>
>>47605779
>except that item modifications are applied after you split the pool.

Are you sure about that? Core 5 pg. 196 says the split is only done after all modifiers have been applied.

The attacker’s dice pool is calculated with all modifiers (Wound, Environmental, Situational, and the full recoil of all attacks if it’s a ranged attack) and then split as evenly as possible between all attacks.
>>
>>47605810
Say you have a dicepool of 10 and two pistols. Both pistols have smartgun systems. You split your dice pool and applay any off-hand modifiers/called shots/ what have you, then add the +2 from your Smartlink to each attack.
>>
>>47606111
This applies to 4e, by the way. >>47605811 is probably right about 5e; I wouldn't know.
>>
>>47606124
Added note: Just checked, and two-guns in 4e negates smartgun/laser sight bonuses.

>5 minutes
In the Napoleonic era, the British army was famous for firing 3-4 times a minute (most armies only managed 2-3, because they didn't practise with live ammo). The slowest part is not reloading, it's following orders to fire together in a volley, properly dress the ranks when there's casualties, shuffling around if there are rear ranks that need to come forward to shoot, etc.

I don't know how fast you could be if you had updated equipment, like an improved lock that didn't require powder priming or a lighter-weight musket, but I suspect a shot every 15 seconds would be the floor for a musket adept.

So I'm looking over the Egyptian tradition, and if anyone has advice I'd appreciate it.

What's a good vessel? For some reason it's an Possession tradition, but I don't know where to put the spirits. If I summon them into ushabti, could they animate the little wax/stone bodies, even if they don't have joints?

If they do need something with flexible limbs, would it be insulting to conjure the spirits into Ancient Egypt action figures from Kong-Wal-Mart? They have realistic ankh action.
>>

>>
>>47606659
To be fair, there's all sorts of big dangerous paracritters basically everywhere there's wilderness of any sort. They don't have to leave North America or Europe to hunt highly dangerous and potentially magnificent critters that the authorities would probably pay you a bounty for taking at least a few out, on top of it all.

The various Paracritters books from any edition should give you plenty of inspiration, just pick something you think could make for an interesting target, maybe something else that can show up and throw the hunt into chaos, then plan an expedition/run around it.

The Juggernaut is always a popular choice.

You can only go to 4 Improved Ability if you take Aptitude, since you round up when you're using Skill/2 to calculate the max rating of the power. That makes Aptitude worth an extra die over Exceptional Attribute at chargen. You only get one though, since their 14 karma costs make them mutually exclusive under the 25-point positive quality limit.

Right. Guess that's why I didn't take both of them. And after re-evaluating, I'd repeat the choice. Raw attribute > skill every time.

It's a bit of a thorny issue, as there's no explanation on what you're supposed to do with modifiers that don't apply to both guns, ie if you have a specialisation in revolvers but one of your pistols isn't a revolver. That means one of two things has to happen; either you add the modifier before you split, effectively giving both guns +1, or you add the exclusive modifier solely to that pool.

How does making an effective infiltrator in 5e work?

I'm putting together a new character who I wanted to be a social face who can also use those talk skills to blend into places he sneaks into for intel and such.

There's so many variables it seems, though. I've got a breakdown gun, lots of sneak dice, rythium polymer, lockpicking, social skills out the ass but I've still got this feeling that as soon as I pass the metal detector I'll be lit up.

Experienced faces chime in please?

the easiest and most reasonable way to handle it, which CGL naturally didnt do, would be to calculate the pool for each attack individually and divide by the number of attacks you're making.

so rolling 10 dice for your smartgun and 8 dice for your smartgun, if shooting each once would roll 5 for the smartgun and 4 for the dumb gun.

You mean, like a break-action shotgun that's firing slugs?

I don't know anything about guns, so yeah, probably.

Musket shoots a ball of metal though, doesn't it? Is that more resistant to deforming for enchantment purposes?
>>
>>47613357

How about a gnome with a sling? I mean, you surely aren't going for accuracy at long range with antiquated weaponry, so you might as well play a hobbit slinger and spew an avalanche of preparations good luck with that at your enemies.

David vs. Goliath comparisons when laying the corpsec low optional.
>>
>>47613427
No muskets shoot a ball/bullet of soft lead it deforms heavily if it hits bone or other hardish substance and moderately in flesh.
>>
>>47613427
>shoot a ball of metal
Why would it be more resistant to deforming for enchantment purposes? The balls still deform.

In regards to what you're looking for and the style you want, get a break-action shotty firing slugs--the rounds are huge and would probably be easy to enchant, to say fucking nothing about the tremendous damage even the mundane ammunition puts out--or just get your hands on a fucking elephant gun. Same theory.

Not to be an ass, but I would certainly suggest reading up more on guns before making a character concept that revolves around them.

Also, doing that to Decking is dumb and boring, especially when Technomancers also need computer skills. Not unless you spend every second in the worst part of the Barrens. Not having a SIN (even a shitty fake one) precludes you from taking part in any level of society beyond shanking people for soyburgers scavenged from trash bins.

You don't need 5 or 6. But FATE at it's core has very broad skills that can encompass everything if you don't care, that's the point of a generic system. If you want to recreate a specific game atmosphere, you need to put in specific rules to create said atmosphere.

Look at it like this. What do deckers do?

>they hack into secure computer systems
>they intercept, decode, and scramble signals
>they fight avatars/personas/whatever in cyberspace
>they prevent people from doing the same to them

You can skip the miscellenia like Software and Computer, and roll the first two together, and it gives you three obvious skills. A decker needs to be able to break into computers, they need to defend their own systems (and those of their teammates) from hacking, and they need to be able to have cool cyberspace battles with opposing hackers and ICE. It also gives you obvious ways to differentiate decker characters- they can be stone walls, l33t hackers, or deadly console cowboys.
>>
>>47612853
I want to see this as soon as you're done, desu broski. I love this game, but the rules can be so frustrating sometimes. Any hack that gives a faster-rolling and less rules-oriented experience is something I'll get behind happily.

Having played a rigger sniper, I can tell you it's not all it's cracked up to be. The range penalties are bad, trying to coordinate all your cameras to give you a good view of the scene while not getting them smashed or hacked, while also leaving you actions to shoot, is very tricky, and most importantly there's stuff in the way. It's hard enough shooting into a building through the wall, let alone trying to weave a bullet through the permanent cloud of flying drones in the trafficked areas of the city, or finding a decent LOS to the target when the streets are all in grid patterns that mean very shallow angles when trying to shoot from range.

It was a fun character, but I learned quickly that I couldn't pull off miracle shots like >>47614365, especially if I wanted to shoot more than one target.

They don't explicitly rule on whether or not an inanimate vessel can use other functions if remotely controlled, but at that point you might as well be using a suicide drone.

A spirit can control basic mechanical functions, like altering the flaps of the fins, and we're fudging the lines of 'the spirit can only move the vessel in ways the vessel can normally perform' by saying that the Movement power, combined with judicious flap usage, keeps it aloft.
>>
>>47616064

>>47616498
The Exalted joke is that the planet they are on is flat, with a fuckhueg mountain in the middle, and there are Charms that let you see forever and shoot whatever you can see. "Archer taking out literally anyone" is a standard build.

Also, I think the ".22" was the part that was questionable, not the pistol part. Lincoln was got by a .44 to the back of the head, Garfield was killed by two .44 rounds (and even then he could have been saved by better doctors), and McKinley was killed by a .32 and the subsequent gangrene. A .22 could theoretically kill someone, but it's a shitty assassin's weapon- Reagan would have died if it had been a respectable caliber.

That's what I'm saying. The spirit can move the dart around, adding in some sort of techno-gyroscope or remote control would just complicate matters.

I'll try to come up with some interesting secrets without foiling my place's security.

like... everyone has a personal keycode, it's not based on door. This allows the system to keep track of where each individual worker is going. A neat feature of this is if you use a MODIFIED personal code, it signals a distress call for on-site security.

So if you force a minimum wage goon to enter a keycode, he will effectively be tripping the silent alarm then and there. And if you manage to get an unaltered clean keycode, you might have access to his entire access range, not just that door.

You can get non-metallic weapons, including Ceramic and Sapphire Knives and a few guns like the Puzzler or HK Urban Combat that wont show up on a MAD scanner at all, since they have an all plastic and ceramic construction. The PSK-3 and PPSK-4 will only show up as a box if they are collapsed, and most guns can have the Ceramic/Plastisteel Components accessory added to them to make them much less likely to show up as well (sadly the PSK-3 and PPSK-3 cant take it). Bows and Clubs can also be constructed to contain no metal, but this is expensive.

If your GM is a huge fucking nerd like me, you could possibly also negotiate for using exotic metals like Pure Titanium and Copper-Barr ilium alloys to make a 20 times more expensive but non-magnetic weapon or tool for anything without an antenna as part of it (aka next to none of the guns in Shadowrun, but stuff like swords, axes, or completely wireless guns should be OK)

I'm bad at things

Perception is 9, Hardware and Blades are 8, Con and Unarmed combat is 7. Those are my highest

Can you post it in a diff format?
I mean, I could go through the small paragraph of skills to figure out what went wrong, but It's 1 AM or so over here.

And that's a problem why, exactly?

Physical Limit only really comes into play for Unarmed Adepts. Blade adepts use their weapon's Accuracy for their limit.

Eh, close enough I guess.
I'm gonna be honest, it looks like you've spread your skills out way too much, with all those one pointers everywhere. A dice pool of 5 or so won't get you places, you'll want at least 10 or so for stuff you'll use regularly.

What kind of character/role are you trying to play?

I just built a backstory and put my points in stuff I thought would be relevant. Ganger with melee combat skills and some b&e/negotiation/repair.

Now that I've written that out, I remember why I was making this character in the first place.

I'm just going to leave the character as is. If he sucks, oh well. Maybe it will be funny. At least he'll be good for the legwork portion. I can probably get him up to 28 armor if I really try, making him an off-tank face.

My first character probably isn't going to live that long anyway so I might as well have fun.

Not the previous anon but a different anon

Me personally I separate my skills into 4 categories

Primary skills, stuff I want to really be good at, your bread and butter. These should be at least 12+ dice pool. Usually one or two skills are like this. For my current character that's automatics and driving ground vehicles.

Secondary stuff you should be able to hold your own in, stuff if other characters are busy you can carry the team with. 9-11 dice pool. For me that's

Tertiary stuff. 6-8 dice pool. This is stuff that fits RP and background stuff. I consider this stuff you can low key get away with and if you have to, use an Edge point to bump it to a secondary skill. I have first aid and pilot aircraft here.

Last. AKA stuff you don't want to default on. This is the stuff you put 1 point into, the things that where the difference between 2 dice can make the difference or stuff that other people have already specialized in and you're just back up. For me that's running, swimming, and perception.

Honestly a mediocre character can be just as good as a specialized character if they have good legwork and prep work and if they use their contacts to help them.

There are also break action double-rifles in the same vein as double barreled shotguns.
>>
>>47621270
secondary stuff is computers and gunnery.

This advice'll be for later, but if your group's not super big into optimization, here's my metric for skills.

6-9-12.

6 is the minimum you're going to want your emergency skills at, and preferably you're going to want a specialty there. The usual emergency skills are Con, Etiquette, First Aid, Perception, and Sneaking. If none of those are really important to your build, you're going to want to get them to 6(8) as soon as possible.

9 is where you want to have things you're good at, but aren't central to your character. It puts you at roughly par with most professionals (but they'll probably have a 10 in their specialty or specialties), and is generally good to fall back on.

12 is where you want the things your character is going to be good at to be. This is where a sammy's favored weapon category should sit (little higher once 'ware and gear are factored in), the face should be throwing around at least this many dice to not B.S. (that is not Be Specific), and the decker should be rolling that many dice for at least a few core matrix tasks.

Do you guys have any Shadowrun quests to recommend?
>>
>>47622694
I'm assuming that you know about Food Fight. Good? Good.

Now, look up LoveLoveAnon's quest in that link collection up at the top.

It's best done with people that have some kinda idea, I'd say, or that have another run already under their belts.
>>
>>47621325
>little higher
Street sams will usually roll at LEAST 14(16) dice for their primary weapon skills, and this will usually be bumped up to 18(20).
>>
>>47622743
Yeah. I noticed a bit ago that I forgot my 'a' in that sentence. Just couldn't really edit.

Because little higher and a little higher have really different meanings. Especially when you have math and die pools like this.

Cyber adepts will still probably be some of the most broken shit possible.
