Does anyone know what the "recharge" time on turrets is? Do they get the same % chance to shoot something down or do they fire once and wait to fire another shot after a time delay like other weapons? I noticed that when I fired torpedoes some of them would immediately explode when they cross the point defence boundary (which is 1500 units or so). The rest carried on and would always hit the target if they made it past that point.

I'm trying to get a better grasp on carrier gameplay and this is one part of the game that's a little obtuse. Most of the time my squadrons don't take a single loss but other times they will get wiped out entirely and I can't figure out why.

Here's how turrets work:
>Turrets have a range of 1,250 and shoot everything in range.
>Each turret has a 35% (unless otherwise stated) chance of destroying 1 strike-craft in a squadron, and a 10% chance of shooting down a torpedo.
>Each turret also raises the Troop Value of the ship by 1 against Boarding Actions.
>For each 100 hull integrity points lost, the ship loses a turret.
Effectively this means each turret instantly shoots at every squadron and torpedo that crosses the magic line, but sometimes the death isn't displayed till later (for verisimilitude).

Importantly, this means that launching from multiple carriers simultaneously isn't actually as important as you would think, as turrets can't be overwhelmed as in Tabletop BFG.

They require some skill to use unlike trash like Nova Cannon that is just click and pray for RNG.
They deal good damage especially when you can get several hits at once at close range.
They are also a manly weapon unlike the faggot shit that Eldar and Chaos plebs use like bombers or lances.

Imperium best and torpedoboating even better. Everyone else can suck a dick since you are obviously a bunch of slackjawed faggots

Even if you are good with IN you'll still lose pretty often. IN don't really have much going for them, their damage output with both macros and lances is mediocre and the range is poor. They can ram chaos and eldar, but will lose a ramming contest with orks and ramming orks also puts you in range of their ultra-high damage per minute guns.

If you could effectively list tailor to counter different opponents it might be okay, but realistically you're going to end up getting fucked by orks if you tailor for eldar or chaos and by orks eldar and chaos if you tailor for orks.

Bad faction balance is bad.

This, 2v2 is not an engagement type that suits the IN well without them having good support. IN is jack of all trades and needs to switch up their strategy for different fleets, having to do that double fucks with you.

FFS, I try to keep distance from their ships, but fail every time. It seems they are able to keep up the pace in speed and maneuvering.

just played 2v2 as orks with imperial v chaos and eldar. the imp player brought a 2 dauntlesses, the lance versions, and 2 firestorms. I easily murdered the chaos fleet (I brought longer range guns/sensors onslaughts mostly) but we didn't scratch the eldar. I told him off for bringing lance boats instead of macro's and he just cried about muh op eldar. seriously guys tailor your list to the fleet, it's not hard. eldar are op but it was a winnable fight.

bring overlords, gothics, tyrants. torpedo dauntlesses with armor ignoring have their place as well. your goal should be to split his fleet and circle him as much as possible until he inevitably closes, where you leverage your superior manueveribility to get behind him, ram him, etc
