Not even going to write anything here cause people are just gonna argue about the jund/infect match up
(Spoilers: Jund bests infect)

>>
>>47032577
Jund isn't gonna cast a removal spell on your combat phase unless they're in a bad spot or if they think they can overload your pump/protection spells with their removal, so have fun casting it postcombat.
>>
>>47032577
Can we not?

>>47032651
Still doesn't matter. You do know jund only plays 2 abrupt decays or something like that right? Inkmoth really isn't a problem for them any more than any other creature. Also, cast a removal spell post-combat.
>>
>>47032700
>abrupt Decay

If Infect is better than Jund, then why is Jund the most played deck in the meta while Infect is like 7th?
>>

hehe, nothin personnel
>>
>>47032671
That's irrelevant. Terminate post combat. Go ahead and cast your vines.
>>
>>47032725
He's pointing out that they only run 2 decays you retard. Meaning that most of there removal is still relevant to nexus.
>>
>>47032737
I think you miss spelled Junk which does beat infect
>>
>>47032725
My point is that jund only plays 2 abrupt decays instead of more copies like they used to, and play 3-4 terminates and 4 bolts. Inkmoth isn't that hard to remove.

Want to ask.
I see that some origin stuffs like Pyromancer Googles, Knight of White Orchid and Dark Petition are kinda expensive now compared to what they used to be.
What made them rise? Standard? Modern? EDH?
>>
>>47035534

Standard. Goggles is a deck in Standard, Knight is in Standard in white weenies and able to easily splash other colours by fetching a Canopy Vista or Prairie Stream since they have plains subtypes and Dark Petition is part of the Seasons Past deck combo.
>>
>>47035551
Ah okay, thanks anon. Time to sell i guess. I would've kept them if it's Modern.
>>
>>47035599
I don't know if now's a good time to sell Dark Petition. I think people are realizing that it's actually a good card and could potentially see modern play.. maybe.

Plus it's always going to be in some demand for EDH.

Sell the Knights and Goggles ASAP though.
>>
>>47035599

Dark Petition is probably one you should keep, foils if anything. They do get played in Vintage/Legacy Storm.
>>
>>47035534
Standard. Goggles is a deck in standard double up lightning axes for sick removal, double up tormenting voice for sick card draw, double up fall of the titans for sick burn kills. It's great. Knight is played in white weenies, ando dark petition is a staple in seasons control.

Standard is pretty fun this season.

the whole idea of burn not running creatures to neuter removal has long been thrown overboard when Eidolon and Swiftspear were just too good not to include

if you want to play Command AND are already at 12 creatures AND you need Destructive Revelry or Ancient Grudges it would be stupid not to play Nacatls

I still can't cope with this fact. And I've transitioned to the Zoo-plan. I was fine with Guide, Eidolon - still a burn spell if removed, and Swiftspear - Goblin Guide 2.0, but having the 4th creature seems so off.

I know that every time someone Paths my Nacatl, it's still right to play Nacatl. I believe that the Nacatl as the right play is only because there are so many other aggro decks that a 2/2 on T1 then a 3/3 on T2 can't beat. The loss of Twin means the field we can afford to be a bit slower but heavier hitting.

Still doesn't feel right.

A single part on my bike is more expensive than what is spent on a season of competitive Standard.

When your hobbies are cheap, you don't aspire higher. The people who aspire to owning a boat, leisure vehicle and outdoor vehicle, and a fucking motor home (second house) have to be fucking rich to maintain that lifestyle.

>>
>>47037184

>>
>>47037106
I think what the anon is trying to express is this:

For a person like you who is educated with a family and generous American nursing salary and finding it challenging to blow $1000 on a hobby is indicative that there's a problem with the system because even a person like you is having trouble living the American dream. And many people have far less.

Admittedly I don't understand why you're having issues, nursing pays fucking well in the United States so much that a huge proportion of Canadian-educated nurses go there, shafting the subsidized education here.

Moving away from that, there's a problem. The problem is both that the American Dream is unsustainable and Americans have felt satisfied to vote in representatives that favor policies that shift money away from the working class - while unions are not efficient, their primary purpose - collective bargaining to ensure that the worker isn't trampled on - is being attacked constantly. The American people also feel that "slave" work like harvesting crops or food service is beneath them and feel those people don't deserve to get paid a fair wage or are fine with depending on low-paid workers to do that work.

While services that cannot be shuffled around like nursing and teaching or food service will always be a source of jobs, America (and my home country of Canada) has outsourced everything else like technology and manufacturing out of the country and the consumer is fine with that because it means their product is cheap and the "suffering" of having no local jobs is ignored or invisible. We are shipping dollars out of the country and the only dollars that come back only go to the pockets of the wealthy.

I actually think it's terrible that people cannot be paid enough such that one spouse handles the career while the other focuses on managing the family.

Two parents working just makes life shit because the family still has to be managed.

Like I say here:
>>47037274
It's a fucking problem. And everyone thinks it's because people are lazy - no, it's because families don't fucking work as well as they could be when both parents have to work.

Fuck "struggle". Both parents shouldn't have to come home to deal with laundry, cooking, kid and the paperwork - it leaves no time to have fun and fuck. One should deal with all that while the other works but that doesn't work in America because nobody gets fucking paid enough. Or it does work but you're chained to a 30 year mortgage and whatever other godawful debt you happen to have.

>plop down 1000 bucks for entertainment

The entire point that people are trying to make is that nobody "plops down" a grand for a deck, and with the average entertainment budget that middle class people (and even most poor people) holds, it's practically trivial for a player to upkeep a non-rotating format.

Magic is only expensive after the initial buy-in period, which is extremely easy to ease over time. Even shifting deck types and building a pet deck over time have minimal upkeep costs once you're playing.

I tried to explain the logic of Pathing a creature on the Draw step with potential draws and deck thinning to a guy on Friday.

The only thing he could take from the explanation was calling a judge because I was apparently somehow telling him that searching a land after a Path meant that he couldn't play a land for the turn.

Here's a little game.

Let's post price history charts of various cards and then people try to guess which card it is.

This one should be easy.

Euros or dollars? Price is average of which site(s)?
>>
>>47037701
Dollars, TCGPlayer average.

Blood Moon?

Can't rememeber anything particular that spiked because of Origins.

All wrong.

Hint: Along with Blood Moon and Ravager, it spiked due to not getting reprinted in Modern Masters 2015.

Hey guys I'm thinking of getting a loan so I could afford a deck. This way I can pay it off in installments. Cards like Goblin Guide and Scalding Tarn are just too expensive, and I want to play as soon as possible.

Does anyone know any places that do things like this?
>>
>>47038327

I'm sure Mr. Goldbergstein would see this as a sound investment.
>>
>>47038327
You shouldn't do that.
>>
>>47038327

>>
>>47038169
Gilt-Leaf Palace
>>
>>47038327
Any bank could give you a personal loan, however it will likely be high interest, because jews, and may be tough to get depending on your credit. Just math it out and see if the interest you would pay would make it cost-innefective.
>>
>>47038354

>>47038465
Well if I want to get into Modern I don't see another way realistically.
>>
>>47038885
Why do you want to get into Modern? It's dull and uninteractive. This weekend's SCG open was won by an infinite combo deck.
>>
>>47039010
Because it's the cheapest official eternal format.
>>
>>47039115
But Modern rotates
>>
I thought Tron was dead but it placed second in the latest SCG?
>>
>>47038327
Don't do that anon.
>>
>>47039359
Where can I find the results from last weekedn?
>>
>>47039359
If you watched that SCG you saw how much worse it was without Eye. Joe Losset is just a real good ducking pkayer, and is able to do work with the deck. Losing Eye really just means that Tron is going to lose maybe a couple of percentage points over the midrange and control decks, but in the end it's still going to beat jund junk and control. Tron isn't dead, just not as good, but as we saw, a good player like Joe was able to make it work.
>>
>>47038327
Is this supposed to be satire?
>>
>>47039115
Legacy has much more viable budget options than Modern, eg. Dredge and MonoR Burn cost less than most tier 1 modern decks.
>>
>>47039405
Joe is an infinitely worse pilot than Aintrazi though, who forfeited the deck. He just got lucky with his matchups and people didn't pack enough Fulminators and Crumbles. You could see in the Scapeshift match how games without Eye are decided by tron player's opener and topdecks, t3 karn into eye fetching ulamog with warping wails in sideboard used to mean Scapeshift was a bye.

You have to understand maro's job no longer has anything to do with making magic interesting or exciting. It is 100% to make sure that a new player can pick up a magic card and fully understand what it does with a minimal amount of explanation. Shit they have to read 3 times then ask for clarification like suspend or fucking banding are no bueno. Maro actually designed some nifty shit when he was given free reign but now they don't care about long term players. Hasbro says "print more money. Now." And they do whatever makes the most new casual kitchen table players crack packs
>>
>>47041746
That's kind of scary. Shortsightedness can kill a company.
>>
>>47041746
>Hasbro says "print more money. Now." And they do whatever makes the most new casual kitchen table players crack packs
That's the goal, but to be more accurate it is ensuring that this happens forever into the future.

You don't want old players with knowledge of the history telling new players what it was like. So you don't need to cater to them; in fact, it is more sustainable to have experienced players quit so that the new players are not tainted by their experience and opinions.

>>47042078
It's not shortsightedness. Experienced players don't spend as much money as new players. Experienced players are excited by much less single cards in a set than a new player.

When was the last time you saw an experienced player get excited by an Intro Pack Dragon. Never.

You don't need experienced players to explain Magic is a complex and deep game. It remains a complex and deep game even though they've dumbed down commons and uncommons. The new player isn't so stupid to not be able to see that this is a pretty fucking complex game - the game itself and the video games sell this point enough.
>>
>>47040607
What do you even need more dredge cards for you faggot?
>>
>>47042509
How about having cards besides Grave-Troll that not only get dredged but played (on the battlefield) as well?
>>
What's up niggers? I'm the BUG tezzerator guy, still trying it out and still finding it pretty darn good. Had a couple questions. First is Tasigur or Angler? My meta is split, there's some goyfs rhinos and opposing tasigurs, and there's decks where that Tasigur grindability could really be good. Not sure, they both have their advantages, but i really do want another decent way to close a game. Secondly I was thinking about running a Tolaria West and that package. Like a slaughter pact, an Engineered explosive and other stuff like that. Also maybe grab a darksteel in a pinch to have an indestructible 5/5 against Jund, that seems pretty sweet. On top of that I was wondering if there's anything else I might find with Tolaria West that's good, or maybe the shenanigans are just too slow anyways. Not keen on pact of negation really, feel like I'd need it before turn 6. Here's my list.
Land (23)
1x Academy Ruins
1x Breeding Pool
3x Darkslick Shores
2x Darksteel Citadel
2x Island
2x Misty Rainforest
4x Polluted Delta
2x Sunken Ruins
1x Swamp
1x Verdant Catacombs
4x Watery Grave
Instant (16)
3x Abrupt Decay
3x Dismember
4x Mana Leak
2x Remand
4x Thirst for Knowledge
Planeswalker (4)
4x Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
Artifact (12)
1x Batterskull
4x Chalice of the Void
3x Sword of the Meek
4x Thopter Foundry
Sorcery (2)
2x Damnation
Creature (3)
3x Spellskite

Sideboards still bouncing around. Run some nature's claims, flying tendrils, dispel, stuff like that. Dispel is so nice against company, I love it. If anybody has some questions about the deck I'd be happy to talk about it, I think it's wicked fun and I can't play it enough.
>>
>>47042546

>Experienced players don't spend as much money as new players

I call bullshit
"Experienced" equals older and more perspective
better players want more cards, play more decks, trade more, buy more, read more

the 14 y o kid I face at my FNM sometimes barely has like 10€ a month to spend on magic
meanwhile the other 20 guys in their mid 20s buy booster boxes, attend prereleases, participate in Draft four times a month and probably own a deck for more than one format
and before you go "waaaa, secondary market doesn't matter"
guess who is generating demand for Goyfs and LotV and IoK and shit? not little timmy and his Werewolf deck m8

face it, kids have no money and the handful of parents actually spending 80 bucks on a booster box are rare
back then, among 12 people I knew who played mtg when I was 14, there was one, exactly one kid, who got a booster box for his birthday
the rest of us spent like 10 bucks a month if at all

face it, WotCASH is currently doing the wrong thing - they try to cater to casuals who hold no loyalty to the game
meanwhile every conversation about recent sets went like this:
>I don't feel like it is worth buying a box of X because there is only shit in it
back then when KtK was released the convo was like this:
>damn, I am totally buying a box, maybe two - damn, sweet fetchlands are so totally worth it - also, there is so much playable stuff in there!

tl:dr; Kikewater a shit and they are just catering to their warped and disgusting taste - just look at any video showing their current designers - disgusting social rejects inserting their shit ideas into the game

>>47043320
Meaning other than having Chalice mainboard, which is fairly rogue in Modern and steals some g1s against select decks (Infect, Burn, Tron to some extent, abzan can't play Viscera Seer and mana dorks etc etc), your list just slams UWx's counter package and Abrupt Decay together on top of a bad planeswalker that only does work with either the sword combo online (which would win you the game by itself without drain ult) or a 5/5 Darksteel that your opponent can't Path or overwhelm. Basically you have the worst of both worlds.

>>47043747
Decks it is good against
RDW
Zoo
Elves
Bogle
Soul sisters
Delver
GR Tron (shuts off a ton of their deck)
Lantern
Infect
Living end
Storm
All other combo decks where you try to draw your deck.

Decks it's okay against
Affinity (Put this first as its in between good and okay, depending on some factors)
Jund/Junk
Dredge
Uwr control
U tron
Most other control decks, shutting off path, snares, bolts and all their 1 drops is good
No other control deck can use it as well as UB Tezzerator. Other control decks can't discard it to thirst, or use it as a 5/5 with tezz. The fact of the matter is, it makes my aggro match up extremely winnable, stealing game 1 against an aggro deck and then going to board is such a huge advantage for a control deck, you have no idea. And I don't understand what you mean the worst of both worlds. It really doesn't make sense. And as far as Tezzeret being bad, that's just wrong. I win as many if not more games off just him alone drawing all my cards, and making 5/5, then ulting for 8 damage is very common after 1 dig, and that's easy. He's a fantastic plane walker in the right deck, and you're just wrong. Protects himself and draws cards with an ultimate that wins, even without the combo, and on top of that he finds the combo almost immediately after playing him. I have no idea what you're trying to say, yes I play counters and kill spells, that's a control deck. "UWX counter package" what you mean the only playable modern counters?
>>
>>47043069
Just play whatever, man. Why even bother asking /tg/? But I'll humore you anyway.
>but i really do want another decent way to close a game
If tezz or thopter combo aren't enough to close a game in a deck built around those cards, ask yourself why. Without knowing why, adding extra ways to close a game just seems like a sloppy choice at best.

>Secondly I was thinking about running a Tolaria West and that package.

>>
>>47044185
Tezz and tho per combo are enough to close most games. However, all my win cons are artifacts. I should add I want something that can win that doesn't die to the artifact hate they bring in, and still works with stony silence. What I am saying is, I'd like to diversify my end game slightly, as even though I can usually fight through the hate, I think it would be beneficial just to ignore it given the opportunity. I was considering running muddle, but honestly I haven't needed it all that much. Tutoring for the combo eats a whole turn, and it's really just too slow. On the other hand, tutoring for an answer like slaughter pact, ee, or the like seems more of what I want to be doing. I want a reactive tutor spell, rather than a proactive one, where I can hold it until I need to use it rather than just digging the combo out. Maybe I can find muddle too, but to lariat west can find stuff muddle cant, it's just a good card honestly and I don't see too much downside to running it.
>>
>>47044354
>not wanting house wife that knows her place
>>
>>47044390
Just be aware that tutoring with Tolaria West is just as slow as Muddle.
>>
>>47044390
Not him, but don't tezz decks shine when they're proactive? Why would you want to dilute your game plan in a format where proactivity>reactivity?

I certainly haven't played the deck, for good reason, but if I did, I don't think Tasigur or angler or any wierd package that doesn't control the board or get to the combo is where I want to be.
>>
>>47044390
Why not run Trinket Mage? Finds you EE, Chalice, executioners capsule, pithing needle etc. Puts a chump on the board too.

>>47044752

Many people go to school to learn about things they are passionate in
>>
>>47044693
I'm aware tutoring with muddle is as slow, however I am tutoring for different things. Tutoring out a slaughter pact is different than tutoring a combo piece, but also tutoring the combo just seems slow. I will probably add a muddle and test it, it seems good enough, I'm just not sure where to put it, I will try it though, maybe it'll be great, I've already had success with the deck.
>>47044732
To be honest I don't know where Tezz decks shine. It clearly didn't have the play before sword was unbanned, and I wouldn't say proactivity is necessarily always correct. Look at 8 rack, pretty much the most proactive control deck you can play. The fact of the matter is, aggro is faster, they have more threats than you have answers, that's why I run a lot of catch alls. I run chalice, which can be well worth 5 of there spells, spellskite can soak up a lot of damage, damnation of course, and the combo itself goes very wide and wins outright against a lot if decks. I'd live to find a spot for cryptic, but darn it just seems to slow in this meta to be honest. I like where this deck is, I think it has a good balance, and it is superb at holding out long enough to turn the corner. I don't know why Tasigur or Angler isn't where you'd want to be, they stone wall and win games, pretty much any black deck runs them, unless it also runs Bob. Also the package is utility, at worst it's a tapped land, at best it's any utility land in my deck or a kill spell or a chalice or anything I want really, it has its uses.
>>47044752
Thing about trinket mage, is I run chalice. This means I don't run many 1 drop artifacts, and tolaria west can search out any other card in my deck trinket mage can, as well as my utility lands and a slaughter pact.

Sure why not? Post secondary just teaches you of courses you love along with skills like thinking critically. There's side effects of post secondary education, like you're significantly less likely to have a divorce. Thinking you should only get a degree so you can get a job with it is a great way to ignore your passion

Chalice is effective on 0 in some matches. More to the point, while it is most definitely a nonbo with 1 drops given its most common setting, I still think you can get away a small utility package mb or even sideboard. Trinket Mage seems like it has the most flexibility and value. About the only thing you can't do is search for your utility lands which begs the question: why not both?

>To be honest I don't know where Tezz decks shine.
The deck has already been tuned. You could probably find a primer and save yourself the hassle of asking in a modern general.

How does Ground seal interact with delirium? I don't think delirium is targeting the cards in the graveyard, but weirder interactions have happened.

With experience on the matter. Infect does beat jund. See happen all the time, both my friends own those decks.

Then why would you consider Ground Seal to be relevant?

What weird interactions are you referring to?

Last thread there was a guy who claimed that he owned both infect and jund and that jund has a 70-30 matchup against infect, in his experience. Your personal experience matters just as much.
