She teaches me fire magic as thanks, since she didn't get along with the dark witches anyway. That's how I learn Fire Mage magic.

Challenge levels of monsters vary throughout a biome. The trick with biomes is that you DON'T have to fight everything you see. So early on in your career you can run from the occasional behemoth and try to look for oozes in your biome of choice. Hopefully you were smart enough to bring a means of escape.
Besides, you have to hunt ALL the things you choose. You can't take Ooze, Behemoth, Dragon, and then expect to only hunt Oozes until you've trained up. You have to kill a dragon in your first season or risk the consequences. So it doesn't matter if you tried to separate the challenge level taking Plains and a Volcano, you have to fight in that volcano anyway.

I always like a CYOA that just makes life "better". Usually they should have required drawbacks though to make them "balanced" in terms of "you arent just getting all this shit for free".Anyway that's what this does, I get to be "better" in basically every way.
