She's the barkeep and the sister/target of the very first villain. That's about as far as it goes, but she's generally one of the party favorites and/or waifus since it's the first book and you're around Sandpoint for a good while.

I'm trying to make a decent Magus character and for the life of me I can't decide if I should start as UC Rogue 3/Magus 1 or UC Rogue 2/Magus 2. On the one hand, the further I delay high-end spells the more likely it is I'll die before getting them. On the other hand, that extra +1d6 sneak attack and DEX to damage Finesse Training are looking pretty damn attractive at the early levels we're at.
What do, /pfg/ ?
>>
>>46444713
Sneak attack isn't reliable. Dex to damage can be nice, but you can also get that with Magus 4 if you go dervish, and it gives you more spells.

Although her original art was AWFUL and also would make you feel kinda like a pedo if you romanced her.

>>46444806
If the GM wants to make it work, same as with any NPC.
>>
Someone posted this in the other thread and it got me thinking - what sorts of minions can a character get hold of with reasonable levels of ease/investment?

A short list would be things such as:
Combat:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/constructs/skull-ripper
Skull ripper is quite tanky, with 24AC and 112HP. 2 claws at 2d6+6, with grab and a +26 bonus on grapple checks. ~16k to make.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/constructs/golem/golem-alchemical
Random chance of 1d6 extra damage, or debilitating effect with crap save DC. Can throw bombs as a ranged touch attack with randomly determined damage type for 8d6. Costs ~18k.

Utility:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/constructs/clockwork/clockwork-familiar
Isitoq - pic related
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/bestiary/homunculus.html#homunculus
Aside from scouts, what could these be used for?

Templates:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/frostfallen-creature-cr-1
Absolutely amazing since, unlike normal zombies/skeletons, frostfallen creatures retain their special attacks.

Spells:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateMagic/spells/rapidRepair.html
Essential for repairing your constructs, 5hp/round for 1round/level

Does anyone have some other interesting constructs/undead/minions to add?

Who's the most powerful character you've ever encountered, /tg/?

In my group, we have this guy, nicknamed the Destroyer of Tabletops, who's really good at breaking the game.

He made a character, probably out of some unholy combination of archetypes and 3rd party shit, that wielded the goddamn moon, and it did an ungodly amount of damage, something like 800000d6.

If you are a proper level to be fighting CR10-11 enemies, you are certainly a proper level to have Dervish Dance and every other feat you need besides to be an effective Magus.

If you are fighting CR10-11 creatures at level 4, you're dead anyway, and ROGUE of all things, even Unchained, is NOT going to fix it.

Have you ever played a character that people assumed was lewd, but was actually completely non-sexual and in fact reacted critically to any attempts at initiating an encounter?

I played in Way of the Wicked with a fairly standard set of teenage edgelords a few years back.

The GM, who was trying way too hard to accomodate their particular version of 'lel so ebil', wound up throwing sex slaves at the whole party while we were staying at the Big Bad Boss' mansion.

So they had their little orgies and rape scenes one by one, and then we got to my character, a tiefling proto-Red-Mantis girl who had gotten a little over-excited during the earlier fighting and was the butt of a few too many oral jokes on account of having a bite attack, but who was in the end pretty laser-focused on her religiously mandated contract murders.

So when the 'hunky' male slave started putting on the charm, she promptly told him to stand in the corner, face the wall, and shut the fuck up.

The next day she made a mention of her annoyance to the slavemaster, and the guy promptly disappeared and was replaced by a quiet maid who did the whole not-talking and pretending-not-to-be-present much better.

>Non-sexual Nymphs

Reminds me of the time I made an Arthurian Knight and the rest of the party started getting confused as to what my relationship was with the ravishingly beautiful nymph that rode maiden-style on the horse beside my own. It's like they couldn't understand the concept of courtly love, that my guy wasn't interested in the fae's impressive bust or luscious silver-blonde hair.

It made me sad, really.

He was escorting her to Grungir Forest to seek a way back into the First World, she rewarded him with a single kiss and to put in a good word with the Fae in the world over yonder. He ended up marrying an entirely different nymph and fathering a half-dozen little rascals.

Honestly, go read any Magus guide, or better yet, pick a less complicated class. You've got VERY strange ideas of how a Magus should work and/or how to stay alive as one, and it's unlikely to be a good match for you.
>>
>>46445825
That was my reasoning as well. Get the free feats, Reflex save padding, and Evasion from the Rogue, and make up for the damage lost from 3 CL's with Sneak Attacks and generally ensuring actually I'll hit something rather than hoping I'll get off that one full-CL Shocking Grasp.
>>
>>46445905
>How a Magus should work
Badly
>How to stay alive as one
Make like a rogue, only with more tricks and less actual damage.

It' not really that complicated.
>>
>>46445926
>ensuring actually I'll hit something
I feel like you've misunderstood how either sneak attack or finesse training works, because the only accuracy boost rogue gets is already available as a feat.
>>
>>46445926
How exactly is Rogue helping you hit anything? It's still 3/4 BAB and has no to-hit increases, or at least none in the first 3 levels.

You actually are LESS capable of hitting things than going straight Magus, because Rogue 1 has 0 BAB.
>>
>>46445885
That word doesn't mean what you think it means. When your at your elementary school tomorrow make sure you pay attention in English.
>>
>>46446006
Not bad b8 m8
>>
>>46445960
Uh, what? The Magus not only does WAY more damage than any Rogue (except MAYBE that nonlethal Sap Master one with an earthbreaker) but is also much more survivable due to defensive spells and better saves.

Sneak Attack is super mediocre and cannot be counted on for a number of reasons, while a Magus can always Spellstrike + Spell Combat with Arcane Mark if he's out of other spells.
>>
>>46445503
>>Have you ever played a character that people assumed was lewd, but was actually completely non-sexual and in fact reacted critically to any attempts at initiating an encounter?
Every single cutie I make has people assuming that because "there's no way you have no lewd intentions when playing a loli or plucky teenage girl between 13-18 dude". In truth, they are all for me and me alone. Nobody else is allowed to touch them. Not the other players, and definitely not the GM with his army of NPCs.
>>

How much would Golarion change if PoW was an integrated part of the setting? I'm not saying every guardsman would know something out of Eternal Guardian, but the guard captains probably do, and people like captains or royal guard would be full-initiators.

I think it would be very easy to say Brevoy would be the creators of Scarlet Throne, and the combat style would rapidly find it's way into the courts of the Inner Sea.

Iron Tortoise seems very much up Lastwall's alley, they'd make that.

Land of the Linnorm Kings? Primal Fury, easily.

Silver Crane is Mendev.

Broken Blade was made in Taldor, surprisingly, as a way for the Unbearded to fight back against armed Taldan guards.

For y'all who use Pathminder, I just added automatic spell list generation to the class pages. No need to manually make spell lists, just add a file for a spell with a spell list entry that matches the class and it'll show up in the list.

That said, I still need to get some of you jerks to actually help contribute content instead of just leeching.

>>46446404
Not significantly, other than to give high-end martials secret schools and the like how wizard colleges have.

The point of initiators isn't to change the fluff, it's to make the mechanics actually live up to the fluff for non-spellcasters.

Paizo has a really stupid understanding of power levels that probably stems from their envy towards the athletic form.

We're talking about a company that has level 18 wizards just sorta running around doing their own thing going "Wheeee~" while the most powerful chieftain in Belkzen is a level 10 Barbarian (or was it Fighter) and the admiral of Taldor's navies is a level 10 fighter.

And then you encounter Pitax that has "elite soldiers" listed as level 8 fighters. The shitty city-state in a shitty part of the world has soldiers almost as deadly as Taldor's finest, or the most brutal barbarians of Belkzen.

Rogue is almost never worth it for a magus.

As other have noted, +1d6 from sneak attack is nothing. You literally have a class ability that can give you that whenever you want without having to deal with flanking bullshit. Also, you know the Arcane Mark cantrip? Boom, spell combat and spellstrike with that every attack and you get an extra weapon attack (plus the ability to magically draw "Dick" all over your enemy's face when you hit).

As for DEX to damage, just get an Agile weapon (remember, you won't be spending money on magic swords because of your arcane pool). Or as others have noted, just get Dervish Dance for the cost of two feats. You can afford this if you're starting at level 3.
>>
>>46446788
In all honestly, you 100% could. I'm assuming Landsknecht was only used because naming shit in a game like 3.x must be STUPID hard with all the existing classes at this point.

Is the Landsknecht prestige class worth taking? Is it worth dipping? How many levels of it should I take for my one-handed swordsman before going back to the Zweihander Sentinel?

Zweihander Sentinel 6 / Landsknecht 4 seems to give me 15 feet AoO and 10 foot reach with a one-handed sword, but is it worth losing those 4 levels of Zweihander?
>>
>>46447147
>kineticist
He said Esoteric Magus, which is the punching one. There's a bunch of non-stacking abilities sure, but having Kirin Style plus Magus spellcasting means it's at least somewhat functional. Unless there's some weird interaction going on there I'm missing which makes it completely break.
>>
>>46447051
That'd actually be playable though, you'd just go Str/Wis/Con, take Small but Deadly, use kinetic fist all the time once infusion specialization kicked in, and throw everything else into utility talents...
>>
>>46447101

It's a gestalt that fucks with the class features of both. You can't combine flurrying with spell combat, and good luck using Kirin Strike effectively since even a plan magus is starved for swift actions.

Basically, you're a gestalt that's less than the sum of its (terrible) parts.
>>
>>46445503
I made a cavalier for Reign of Winter who attracted Nadya's interests. He kindly declined, for he was married to his quest.
>>
>>46447184
>swift actions
Kirin Strike (Combat): As long as you have at least 1 stamina point in your stamina pool, when you hit a creature you have identified with Kirin Style, you add your Intelligence modifier to melee and ranged attack damage rolls against that creature for the next 24 hours. You still can take a swift action to add twice your Intelligence modifier to damage rolls, but that damage doesn't stack with the damage from this combat trick.

So basically you ignore the monk half and just play a Magus who can get Wis to AC. It's not great for sure, but it can still work.
>>
>>46447231

It just feels wrong to try and fall in love with Nadya, the woman's under a lot of stress and the party's constant hijinks certainly aren't helping her strained mental state.

If you get the Scarlet Throne Style feats and really want to play up the one-handed weapon soldier, you really can't go wrong. The only real thing you lose from Warder with that build is Extended Defense uses and Defensive Focus range increases.

You also won't be able to get some of the later Warder abilities which are really cool, but most people never reach those levels anyway, so it's probably not a big deal.

Playing with stamina rules goes a long way to make iffy builds usable. If you can't rely on this, then you're using a swift action to enchant your fists, your second turn's swift action to enter kirin style, then your third turn's swift action to get the bonus. And that's assuming you don't need a swift action for anything else, like any of several magus arcanas.

I mean, if you don't mind waiting until your third turn to be good, sure...but then why getstalt into monk at all? Magi can already take kirin style.

Can someone explain to me how warlord maneuver levels work?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/path-of-war/classes/warlord
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/scarlet-throne-maneuvers

It says that you can use maneuvers up to your Initiator level, but it goes on a normal 1-9 level spectrum like spells. But is that to mean that when you become a 9th level warlord, you have access to all available maneuvers, despite it being a 20 level class?

In the Scarlet Lion section in particular, none of the maneuvers and stances save are in any way made more powerful or longer-lasting based on initiator level, with most of them scaling based on initiation modifier, which in Warlord's case is Charisma, and the Sense Motive skill.

Does that mean, then, that there are diminishing returns on leveling Warlord past 9, and you can multiclass if you only wanted, Heavenly blade of the scarlet throne (A 9th level scarlet throne maneuver) and 10 other maneuvers before it?
>>

Some are fluffy, some are good. Vigilante as a whole wasn't bad despite the fact it shoulda just been a feat/feat tree.

>Vigilante
Vigilante (Stalker) is Tier 4
Vigilante (Avenger) is Tier 4
Vigilante (Brute) is probably lower end of Tier 4, if not Tier 5
Vigilante (Magical Child) is low Tier 3 to mid Tier 3
Vigilante (Cabalist) is low Tier 3 to mid Tier 3
Vigilante (Zealot) is low Tier 3 to mid Tier 3
Vigilante (Warlock) is low Tier 3 to mid Tier 3
Vigilante (Mounted Fury) is Tier 4
Vigilante (Psychometrist) is mid Tier 4 to high Tier 4, maybe Tier 3
Vigilante (Wildsoul) is Tier 4
Vigilante (Gunmaster) is low Tier 4, probably Tier 5

The rolling honestly feels kind of pointless at this point.

I'm playing ranger and I'm leveling up but hit a bit of a snag. I'm selecting a combat style and then this:
>At 2nd level, a ranger must select one combat style to pursue. The choices depend on if the APG is being used.
>The ranger's expertise manifests in the form of bonus feats at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites.
>If the ranger selects X style, he can choose from the following list whenever he gains a combat style feat
This is confusing as shit to me. So does this mean I
A. Get a feat from the list at 2nd level
B. Get a bonus feat from the list at 3rd level
C. Get a feat a from the list at 2nd level and THEN get a bonus feat

What do you think of this as a feat? Weeaboo enough?

Also, could somebody who has Reign of Winter tell me what the DR or hardness of a tank is in there?

DAISHO MASTERY (COMBAT)

Prerequisites: Daisho Expertise, base attack bonus +8, proficiency with the katana or wakizashi.

Benefit: Any katanas or wakazashi you wield gain the benefits of being crafted from adamantine (in addition to its actual material). If you wield a katana or wakzashi that is already crafted from adamantine, it ignores hardness less than 40 instead of harness less than 20. In addition, you gain the benefits of the Improved Critical feat in regards to katanas and wakizashi. If you already have Improved Critical for one of those weapons, you increase the threat range for that weapon by 1 after all other effects. This feat counts as Improved Critical for purposes of meeting prerequisites.

Special: If you are proficient with the katana as a martial weapon, you meet the prerequisites for this feat, although you only gain its benefit while wielding a katana in two hands (to gain these benefits while wielding the katana in one hand, you must possess Exotic Weapon Proficiency with the weapon). You must possess Exotic Weapon Proficiency with the wakizashi to gain the benefits of this feat with a wakizashi.

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)
1d12 Damage
19-20 x4 Crit
+2 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)
2d10 Damage
17-20 x4 Crit
+5 to hit and damage
Counts as Masterwork

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think?

tl;dr = Katanas need to do more damage in d20, see my new stat block.

Why does an animated tank have 1800 less hit points?
>>
>>46448368
Thanks.
>>
>>46448340
>AC 2; Hardness 10
>hp 1,920

So assuming you have an adamantine katana and full use of PoW and whatever, how do you deal 1,920 damage to the tank in one hit?
>>
>>46448142
But isn't the Daevic better?
>>
>>46448377
Because you aren't smashing the thing into dust, you're just damaging it enough that the magitech keeping the brain alive quits.

It's like how you don't have to blow up a whole mecha if you can land one hit hard enough to pancake the pilot through sheer G-forces.
>>
>>46448377
PAIZO!!! Seriously though, the animated one is something you're supposed to reduce to 0 HP to win, and the vehicle is something you're probably not fighting, and if you are, you want the crew, not the vehicle.

>>46448444
Tape the katana to a lance and give it to RAGELANCEPOUNCE.
>>
>>46448466
Daevic is a tier 4 motherfucker that can pump out bullshit damage with Wrath and do basically nothing else.
>>
>>46448522
Totemist couldn't do even that though.
>>
>>46448444
With AC 2, a sane GM might let you effectively coup de grace it for an auto-critical, at which point you only have to deal 960 hp in one hit.

DSP printed out the "pyn-gok," a psionic peacock-folk monster whose men wear high heels.

Half-pyn-gok PC race for cute cuddly peacock boys in high heels when, DSP?
>>
>>46448582
>not wearing cavalry boots
>wearing objectively inferior high heels
Pig disgusting

Not going to lie, that sounds like a pretty comfy game.

That sounds cute.

Which is a better investment, lads?

Anyone have the pdf for Psionics Augmented: Soulknives?

I find a link in the archive but it was dead.

Scarlet Throne Dignity.

>>46448582

Where is that from?
>>
>>46448648
It's very comfy! And fun! It's also quite funny sometimes; a lot of the noncombat scenes feel like they could fit as Tales Of <X> skits.
>>
Long story short I got talked into playing a character with 5 con. I plan on basically playing a permanently invisible scout and never ever participating in combat. How fucked am I?
>>
>>46448881
You have another sheet prepared, right?

Smart wolf, using her large flotation devices like that.

Unfortunately my session was canceled as my DM had a family emergency. Oh well, my greedy and narcissistic half-elf summoner will have to wait a week to be introduced to my current group.

I have just now been able to go over ultimate intrigue, I wanna see how my opinions of it mesh with yall

>Vigilante is a great class for NPC's to fuck with players but an awful one for PC's
>Magical Child and the spiderman archetypes are retarded as hell
>It's really funny how right above the god awful vigilante transformation archetype is an alchemist archetype that also transforms and is way, way better.
>The other class archetypes are all pretty cool, as are the spells/items

Isn't the Metamorph completely shit tier?

You're sucking up a feat tax and additional -2 penalty to attacks in order to get +1 average damage over dual longswords, or +1/+2 over longsword and shortsword. It's not at all worth it. Hell, you'd get a bigger benefit by going dual short swords and Piranha Strike (-2 penalty at BAB 4 gets you +4 damage, instead of +1).

> (-2 penalty at BAB 4 gets you +4 damage, instead of +1)
Instead of +2, I mean, the difference between shortsword (3.5) and bastard sword (5.5).
>>
>>46449228
It is, good eye there. Just using it as a ref until I get some art of my summoner proper.

If her tits aren't in the water they aren't functioning as flotation devices.

Things are coming to a head-we've learned that the evil sorcerer whose machinations are behind almost every bad thing that's happened in the campaign is going to attempt to ascend to demonhood, and tear open a hole through which the myriad nightmares of the Abyss can spill out into the countryside. In order to defeat him and save the land, we're going to have to storm a castle filled with monsters, demons, and the sorcerer's followers. So, we ended the session discussing potential battle plans, making last minute preparations, and just generally girding ourselves for a big honkin' showdown when we arrive a couple days hence. RP-wise, my Chosen One got a remarkably moving pep-talk from his familiar on the meaning of courage and a drunken, tearful love confession from the catfolk.

No, it was for examples of legendary swordsmen, and a level 12 pirate who is supposed to be a sword wielder made it onto the list of the best. Sveinn is a level 18 barbarian, but he's not said to be a legendary swordsman per Se.

It was about character archetypes, not levels.

The metamorph isn't very good, but it's much better than the Brute Vigilante.

When you're relaxing on your back in the water, bits and pieces tend to go under (but not very far), oftentimes this includes the chest.

They all play and fight more or less the same.

They're literally all Slayers.
