Bringing the Medic over to the new thread:

Hello, pfg.

If you all still remember DSP's April Augmented release, there was this little archetype called the Ambu-lancer for a class that didn't exist. Don't worry though, I got your backs. Presenting the Medic:

Why is there no good necromancer archetype for antipaladins?

Knight of the Sepulcher makes YOU undead (way too late to benefit...), but gives you nothing in the way of keeping undead minions.

Seal-Breaker buffs undead around you, but the only things you get to command are a shitty undead horse and a short-duration mohrg summon.

Why can't there just be an equivalent of the Gravewalker witch? Aura of Desecration would be an easy replacement for any other aura, and Bonethrall/Possess would solve the control problem without resorting to your shitty casting.

Unfortunately even online, my spaghetti gets dropped. New people online also feel even worse, because it's harder to guess what they're thinking from tone and nonverbal cues. The group I'm in is mostly people I've known for a while, and even though it's a purely IRC group I still feel a little spaghetti getting dropped occasionally when I talk to the new guy.

I also swear to god I'm invisible whenever I go places, online or otherwise. Unless I make a pun so bad people have to pay attention, I tend to get overlooked.

Pick an AP, or better yet, some of the modules. The Crypt of the Everflame trilogy is pretty solid; dungeon crawl, then an urban investigation but, then another dungeon crawl.

The Crown of the Kobold King series is also well-received.
>>
>>46414801
The thing about DMing is that I don't know if I have the right kind of schedule to actually put time aside to do it for extended periods. For a few sessions? No problem, can pull that off easily. An entire campaign? I dunno man.
>>
To what degree would it solve the Swashie's issues if Charmed Life was a free action (it's luck, not effort) and there was a version of the duelist gloves just for them? Irrepressible is a trait that gives them their charisma bonus instead of wisdom vs charms and compulsions, and at higher level they can take twist away to help their fortitude saves when they are out of Charmed Life.
>>
>>46414924
This just makes them mildly less terrible. It doesn't fix the class.
>>
>>46414863
Nobody said you had to DM a whole campaign. Ask if your friends would be down to play a couple sessions, just to get a feel for it. Then, you give them the options to play with 3pp stuff, and make sure to have enemies that use counters and the occassional strike or boost.

>>46414924

Its kind of about lewds, but not really. I mean the first chapter has the centaur, the imp and the satyr all examining each others vags.

Satyr w/ brother complex is cute.

Best chapters are the ones about the little kids though. (Like the little centaur threatening to kick the bully for pulling on someone's tail).
>>
>>46414990
Hmm, I was sure you could. Okay, then with the qualifier that they can be taken outside your turn, possibly with the qualifier that you need to do that before you roll (or after you roll but before the result is announced).

>>46414959
>Still SUPER action economy cockblocked and built entirely around the weakest combat style in the game. But it would be slightly better.

My view is that usually, you do not need to take all the swift action options in the same turn. If Charmed life does not take an action, that leaves dodging panache, the riposte from Opportune parry, menacing display, the enhanced version of precise strike and dizzying defense. I can see dodging panache preventing you from using some of your options for the next turn as a sort of tradeoff. Which of the other actions would you change to improve it without a major change to the chassis.

Mind you, it would be nice to get some more support for their combat style.
>>
>>46415046
A Mystic Theurge of Velsharoon was waiting for his adventurer comrades to die so he could animate them as really powerful undead.
>>
>>46414924
Swashbuckler needs a LOT of help. I've counted before that there are no fewer than 7 class features that compete for your swift (or immediate) action. Precise Strike deed helps with the lack of damage with one-handed weapons, but as it's precision damage you'll still find yourself shafted once in a while. (Also because it's precision damage it's not multiplied on a critical hit.)

If you really wanted to fix the class, you'd have to give better saves, remove the dependency on swift/immediate actions, ditch the meme feature, remove "precision" from Precise Strike, grant earlier and better critical buffs, and make Deeds a stronger list you choose from every so often instead of a spoon-fed list with only 2-3 actually useful options.

And that's to start.
>>
>>46415133
I should have specified: It's not an H manga. There are some lewd bits, but it's mostly about fluffy monstergirls who deserve all the headpats and also fucking crazy shit the author must have dreamt up while drunk out of his gourd.

>>46415140
>>46415169
Honestly, let the Swashbuckler die. Find a class that does its job better (like a Magus or a Warlord) and just go all-in with that.

People have been trying to fix the Fighter for what? Like fifteen years now? The Swashbuckler is the same level of stupid design decisions and general ineptness. Just let it rest and move on to options that DO work. Swashbuckler can be a profession, it sure as fuck doesn't need to be a class.
>>
>>46415140
>

My view is that usually, you do not need to take all the swift action options in the same turn. If Charmed life does not take an action, that leaves dodging panache, the riposte from Opportune parry, menacing display, the enhanced version of precise strike and dizzying defense.

This is great in theory, until you get involved in a fight where something pounces or otherwise full-attacks you, or more than one creature targets you for anything. If two wizards Finger of Death you, you can only Charmed Life one of those saves.

The problem is that PF doesn't *have* another "out of turn" action type you can take that doesn't exhaust a resource you still need. If we were going to fix those Deeds they'd have to be *no* action to stay consistent with the clusterfuck of rules.

(I'd be okay with that.)

QANON wrote it as an April Fool's joke. It's actually kinda cute. The tl;dr is it permanently gives a willing target a fluffy tail that can be used to protect against cold temperatures up to -45 degrees, and an additional feature than can give a minor +1 bonus to A Thing depending on feature chosen (like animal ears for Perception, or a single little fang for...I forget). It can also be recast to dismiss said tail.

Ok I obviously mean as a fighter. Even then though what does a caster do against it in direct combat? By direct combat I mean combat where both are within 1000 feet of one another and are aware of one another. It seems getting teleported at makes it so the caster has to play defensively when a large portion of his health is gone from an attack.

All emergency force sphere does is buy him time to teleport away. Some with contingency to get away.

The fighter has guarding and he wouldn't need the +5 against the wizard so his saves are out of the wizard's range for anything that isn't spell perfectioned.

The wizard could of course just be on another planet and teleport in simulacrum, but I have never in years seen anyone actually do that.

It's not a PvP game, so it's not particularly important. Furthermore, this Fighter is still heavily reliant on other classes for solving problems that can't be fixed with "hit it until it dies." He can fly, great! He can teleport, awesome! But those still leave him VERY limited in what narrative power he has.

Nice, you use a word you don't know the meaning of. Most SLAs of a creature of that level do allow SLAs, and what no-save ability would you use on it? It's really not though, at least not in combat which the system is about. Nothing's immune to damage. Unless you think a build is fine making every level-appropriate fight pointless as long as it can't diplomance people too, in which case sure a wizard is better.

I mean, what kind of situation would you say he is entirely incapable in? The only one I can really think of off the top of my head is social, but you can't expect everyone to have every skills.

Besides, fighting a wizard doesn't mean it's a pvp game. There are plenty of enemy wizards. Like most liches.

A combination of multiple races is hard to find, however Tieflings can be horrifying. You're part evil outsider. This include demons, daemons, devils, and more.

The most disgusting would probably be Qlippoth. They're what existed before mortals and manifestations of primal chaos + primal evil. Choose one of them:

See, I can't find anything that slows down this fighter.

Sirocco is the closest with exhaustion as the penalty for taking damage, but he can just teleport out of it after becoming fatigued and fatigued isn't bad enough to worry about.

The other ones they mentioned require him to be at low health, or vulnerable to straight hit point damage.

Touch attacks are dangerous, but enervate doesn't kill him fast enough for the caster not to die even if the fighter can't make full attacks.

Expendable caster mooks can totally be a thing. Especially since a Fighter of this caliber certainly is well-known to his enemies, and thus preparations to deal with him can be made.

Yes, you can multiclass into PoW classes from non-PoW classes. Your Initiator level for your PoW class would be equal to PoW class level + 1/2 of your non-PoW class level.

So a Slayer 6/Warlord 2 would have an Initiator Level of 5, and could take 3rd level maneuvers.

So while looking at the "Brutal Bushi" Stalker, I started branching off to look at just the Bushi Stalker. How does Mithral Currant interact with TWF? Can I be constantly sheathing and unsheathing two or more weapons constantly? Obviously I'm going to be choking on feats, but by level 6 everything just kind of falls into place (quickdraw+mixed combat, finesse+DA, TWF+Piranha Stike[?]) assuming I'm looking at this right. The healing is heavily restricted per encounter and prone to healing overages, for the most part it maps to the expected high damage of monster attacks across levels, but you can only pull it off a maximum of 9 times per encounter.

The temporary HP it generates typically only has a very short duration and doesn't stack, meaning that it's only good for brief overshielding.

Additional wording is being worked on to control the way that triage interacts with damage to keep it locked on damage that's accrued only during the current encounter. So the medic will have to rely on other sources of healing to work outside of combat.

Thinking of running my next game with this homebrew from a few weeks back.

What's something that could be given to thrown weapons to differentiate them from bows and slings? I was kinda thinking of having them create difficult terrain, or just prevent five-foot-steps out of squares where thrown weapons are laying around.

What's the opinion on the homebrew in general?

Thrown weapons that successfully strike a target causes the target to lose their shield bonus, or get a negative to-hit, or lose movement.

As someone who enjoys the occasional ERP, I understand exactly where he's coming from.

I don't want to be hearing about someone's cringeworthy attempts at romance or seduction when we're playing an otherwise fun campaign.

Okay, yeah, that's definitely way past the weird threshold. Although to be absolutely fair, some people IRL have legit hyperboobs, even if there's little to no reason ever to have it in a RPG.
>>
>>46417513
This, my friends, is why I don't RP anymore. I join a game, furfags and weebs take over the game and build their magical realm, ruins the game, somehow I'm the asshole for actually trying to play a fucking game instead of describing horse sex in intense detail.

Yesterday or the day before someone posted a story about the DM forcing a gay guy in unicorn shape to fuck some woman NPC and made it super creepy despite the gay guy not wanting to do that sort of shit. Don't try to pretend that's anywhere near acceptable or in the realm of subjective taste. It's just filth.

Hey, /pfg/. Anyone here play a hunter at all? Any pointers or suggestions? Starting a new game soon, and I feel like trying a new class.

What I always hated about D&D was the alignment system and the genocide inherent to dungeon crawling. The whole point of Stormbringer was that evil was the extremes of chaos and law, not a philosophy religion in itself. The Fellowship of the Ring did not enter Moria to slaughter the inhabitants and loot their homes, and tried to avoid contact before being discovered.

How can I frame the game into something that isn't based on illogical morality political parties and systematic genocide looting? Anything to provide advice on running nuanced, morally ambiguous, pseudo-realistic campaigns?
>>
>>46417756
Play a different system.
>>
>>46417641
You are an asshole for shouting about it where no one cares, which incidentially draws more attention to it, which is what they want, which means there is more of it, which means its even worse because of you.

You asshole.

Or you could just, I dunno, play a normal game with your friends, like my group does twice a month

Then again, you sound like the type of asshole who doesn't actually have any friends.

Plus you're highly exaggerating the whole situation. Many people here on /pfg/, myself included, would enjoy to play a game without weeb or ERP elements, hell I personally hate ERP myself. However coming by complaining about the jokes we make with each other, and acting like a fun nazi, only makes you come across as an asshole and an autist, especially since you've been on this anti-pfg campaign for the last several threads, which just makes it seem as though you're just a salty child with nothing better to do with your life than make nuisance out of yourself.

So perhaps instead of poopooing everything as badwrongfun, you could actually behave like a productive human being and try to discuss actual topics.

>>46417730
He was posting about it in a That Guy fashion, and everyone agreed that it was uncalled for. Quit trying to skew things into strawmen in a sad attempt to justify your autism
>>
>>46417756

Despite the cool-kid good necromancer trend of the modern day, this is one of the things the undead are perfect for. The living interact (and sometimes go to war) in the way humans do in real life, while your dungeon crawling is often less "kill the goblins in their homes and take their belongings" and more "the dead have begun to rise in this ancient tomb. You will be rewarded if you clear out these unhallowed monsters before they spread!"
>>
>>46417756
Just ignore alignment entirely, it's pretty easy. If some spell or effect that actually cares about alignment, have it depend on faith. Like smite evil becomes smite heretic, where a paladin of a god of freedom would activate it on a slaver or a mind-controller or anything else explicitly, opposed to freedom.

Oh sweet you're using my doc! Since it's mostly for players' ease-of-use, the linkified version is better to give out (no mechanical change).

That's an interesting concept for thrown weapons and makes a decent amount of sense for many of them. I guess there's no previously-existing synergy for it but it's the sort of side-benefit that wouldn't need any to be useful and niche-creating.

I've been using the brew myself and it's been good so far. The changes aren't groundbreaking but generally makes affected styles come into unique roles earlier and makes battles more varied with less stuff. Mooks using the shield one made a certain encounter with a reach-weapon boss more exciting for the PCs, toughening up the movement game through his threatened space as they covered him. The crossbow change made a standoff situation really advantageous for the PCs holding up a gang of thieves, enabling them to stop the ones that tried to make a break for it (the Overwatch Style fun with it is about to begin). And the einhander prompted appropriately tactical play in a tussle with a 'master duelist' (literally a level 4 Fighter) they had. The bard who uses it herself is having an OK time but hasn't raised her AC enough to make it a center stage attraction.

Murderhoboing is effectively intrinsic to games like D&D and PF.

You are not going to find what you like unless you homebrew your way around the problem, and it is likely easier to play a different system.

You know, he probably is trying to troll. Stop taking the bait and let's talk about something else instead. To honor the ERP-hater, let's discuss which race makes the best waifus. Who here /sylphu/?

Race does not a waifu make, but rather it is the quality of the individual, and the mutual respect you have towards eachother, that makes a waifu
>>
So, how have I never noticed Fading Dodge, the 2nd level Steel Serpent counter before? Not only can I dodge an attack, but I get free pocket sand while I'm at it!

>>46417903
Obviously, we cannot discuss waifus without the Ethumions and the Eireimians. qt3.14s, the lot of them.

>>46417961
I can see the logic in this.
>>
>>46417416
>>46417846
It would only make sense if the thrown weapon were one-handed or larger. Dropping a dagger or a shuriken into it doesn't make sense for rendering a 5ft space difficult terrain. And obviously you don't want to overcomplicate shit with separate light and one-handed benefits or favor one too much over the other.

Thrown weapons IRL had a variety of utilities.

Things like atlatls or javelins could have heads that separated from the shaft easily, causing bleeding wounds and relatively easy to recover shafts.

Stuff like pila were designed to encumber the target (particularly their shields).

Throwing hammers *could* be used in melee, but were designed to disrupt shield use (by breaking people's arms/wrists).

Throwing knives and axes were fairly easy to recover and were often designed to scatter all over the place, they were usually thrown in volleys and were a skirmishers tool; you'd throw them from about 30-50ft and even if they were blocked or missed they could still bounce up and hit other people (usually in the legs or crotch), while your group charged in.

Stuff like shaken or shuriken were thrown as a distraction, though they could be poisoned. They were cheap to manufacture, easy to carry and were often thrown at the eyes or face.

Darts and rope darts were fairly easy to recover, easily re-useable and often poisoned.

Race Points, to build a custom race
Fantasy, party is globetrotting for allies against an army if sex fiends. Women are more common as adventurers because ifthey lose they end up as pets while men tend to get killed, and at lower levels it tends to be easier to go rescue the ladiesthan raise the boys.

So, the rules say that you have to enchant a shield separately if you want to use it as a weapon. Does this mean you need to pay the 300g to make it a masterwork weapon on top of the 150g to make it a masterwork shield? How would you notate such a magic weapon? Would a shield with a +2 bonus to AC and a +1 Enhancement bonus to attacks and damage be written as a
