>>
>>46396908

Half-breeds in themselves are a bit sue but I would say it depends on how much attention you give to your heritage. If you don't bring it up often, people in my experience tend not to remember it and roll with it easier.

nth for this looks like an amazing sorcerer trait, but what things will I still be in danger of with low read: 8 Wisdom? Are there any other good traits to use your CHA mod in place of another ability scores?

>Irrepressible (Faith): You can use your Charisma modifier in place of your Wisdom modifier when attempting Will saving throws against charm and compulsion effects.

AFTER SOME LONG, HARD BARGAINING, QANON'S WRANGLED PERMISSION TO SPOIL THE FULL TEXT OF THE SPELL

>Tailful Polymorph

>School: Transmutation (polymorph)
>Level: bloodrager 1, cleric 1, druid 1, inquisitor 1, ranger 1, sorcerer/wizard 1

>Casting Time: 1 standard action
>Components: V, S, F (a plush, doll, or other huggable, loveable representation of a mammal)

>Range: touch
>Target: living creature touched
>Duration: instantaneous (willing) or 24 hours (unwilling)
>Saving Throw: Fort negates
>Spell Resistance: yes

>The target instantaneously grows a luxurious tail (and optionally other features, as below. However, the tail is non-negotiable, okay?) matching the animal represented by your focus. If the target already possesses animalistic features, you may instead choose to improve the fluffiness of these features, change the apparent species of these features (e.g. change a catfolk's tail to a fox's tail), or simply remove any or all of them, if you're lame like that (this last use always has a 24-hour duration, regardless of the willingness of the target).

>A creature who gains a tail from this spell, or whose natural tail has been enhanced, can wrap themselves or another in this tail to ward against winter's chill; the wrappee suffers no harm from being in a cold environment, and can exist comfortably in conditions as low as –45 degrees Celsius without having to make Fortitude saves. This doesn't provide any protection from cold damage, nor does it protect against other environmental hazards associated with cold weather (such as slipping on ice, blindness from snow, and so on).

>Other features grant +1 circumstance bonuses to the following skills (and no other mechanical benefit, such as movement speeds or natural attacks):
>Ears: Perception checks to hear
>Eyes: Perception checks to see
>Feet: Stealth checks to move silently
>One Single Fang: Diplomacy checks to influence attitude

>Additional features may be possible with GM permission.

>Section 104: Capturing slaves from unclaimed territory (i.e., tunnels and caverns not specified as belonging to any duergar clan) is designated a true duty, and is allowed provided the following holds:
>Section 104.1: Ownership of slaves falls to the clan that found them. If multiple clans are in dispute and have obeyed normal rules of engagement (see Section 19), a priest shall arbitrate the dispute. If multiple clans have a valid claim, slaves shall be distributed evenly, with first choice falling to the clan in highest standing.
>Section 104.2a: Slaves must meet minimum health guidelines (as defined in Section 3) or be exterminated. Diseased captives in particular must be exterminated swiftly to prevent the disease from spreading to other property.
>Section 104.2b: Dwarven captives must be exterminated, but may be tortured first.

From Monster Codex. The duergar are a monotheist race who view all non-pure duergar as good only for slavery, and dwarves in particular as blood traitors to be executed as a matter of law.

Their AC makes them incredibly hard to hit, their DR makes it difficult to even hurt them unless everyone switches to a piercing weapon and I burn through several Align Weapon spells, and their SR effectively makes it so our Beguiler is utterly useless.

I just don't have enough Align Weapon spells to aid the entire party enough if we are fighting so many of the damn things.

>>46397522
Keep trying. Ask them to detail their actions and practice some social encounters.
>>
>>46397571
Shell out for a Scroll or two of Mass Align Weapon. It should also be noted that Raktavarnas (I assume you're fighting them - the rest aren't as hard to hit and the SR isn't so crippling, SR 17 on a CR 2 monster is bullshit) are DR 5/Good OR Piercing, not AND, meaning you could probably get by just with piercing weapons.
>>
>>46397522
Eh. A new DM and new players, that's not so bad. I'd keep offering opportunities to roleplay, just don't sweat it too hard. Let everyone get a handle on things before worrying too much about RP.
>>
>>46397654
This. Pathfinder is annoyingly complicated and it's hard for a new GM with new players to determine exactly what's fair and balanced off the cuff; it's something you really just need experience with to handle fluidly.

Do not be afraid to stumble or fail, because you will. It's entirely okay to retcon an encounter if you realize later you made it way too hard. It's entirely okay to make encounters easier and fudge rolls on your end if the players are having an off day and luck is working against them.
>>
>>46397603
Yea. Lets see, I know for certain that Noble Scion feat gets you CHA instead of DEX for Initiative if you choose the Scion of War thing.
>>
>>46397604

I think so? I'm not the DM. They seem to have 28 AC though, unless they cast Mage Armor or Shield, then it's like 32+. And have DR 15 Good and Piercing.

We just turned level 8.

>>46397605
>damaging spells

We don't have a caster capable of such things, and even if we did it's highly improbable we'd beat their SR 25.

SR 25 + DR 15 Good & Piercing is a Common Rakshasa, a CR 10 monster.

One them on its own is halfway to a boss encounter, and two of them in one encounter is CR 12, making it APL+4 and therefore a boss battle. A CR 10 Common Rakshasa with two CR 8 Marai Rakshasa or four CR 6 Amanusya Rakshasa would also be a boss encounter.
>>
>>46397738
28 AC would be... I dunno, rakshasas in studded leather or something. 33 would be with mage armor and shield up.

Honestly, you shouldn't be fighting more than two at any time, that's a CR 12 encounter by itself.
>>
>>46397738
Your DM is cuckolding you famalam, they have AC 25 and since mage armor/shield improve it they're not wearing armor or a shield to explain that +3 AC.
>>
>>46397855
>>46397881
He could simply be wrong about what the AC seems to be.

Regardless, multiple Common Rakshasa in one encounter at 8th level is punishing, and any more than 2 is flat-out OP for a normal party.
Unless there's more than 4 of them.
>>46397842
How many people are in your party?
>>
Say, would a Small Weapon with reach still have a reach of 10ft, since small characters and normal weapons have the same normal range as a Medium creature?

Also, why is it that a Rhomphaia doesn't have the ruling that it can be used against adjacent, despite the fact that it's handle length would actually mean that it would be useful against close enemies?

A: Yes.
B: Realism is a nonsensical balance point in Pathfinder. Reach rules themselves make no sense outside of a few VERY long weapons, and that's only for human sizes. Besides, weapons are such a small portion of the game, despite the amount of content for them, that it doesn't matter - just pick a different weapon's stats and refluff it.

So I recently joined a game in progress where the other player all started out with special dragon powers and such. The DM informed me that I would get nothing so I decided to play a CE Vitalist yandere heal-slut. Well I wanted to form a cult that worships these dragon deities(The other PCs) and through a corrupted wish I now have a Thrallheard of 30 children that will do what I say with 0 hesitation.

I feel like I've been given a wonderful opportunity here but don't quite know how to capitalize on it.

As the guy who asked how many players you have, did the CR/XP math earlier, and recommended the scrolls:

Run.

The single most powerful thing any adventurer can do is run away. It doesn't matter your alignment, your class, your ideology - if you're all dead, you can do nothing. Back out, buy some fairly cheap scrolls and oils, nab a Wand of Protection from Evil (Easy +2 Deflection to AC), and probably a Metamagic Rod of Piercing for the Beguiler. Re-arm everyone with piercing weapons if possible. If you absolutely must, throw your theological weight around and get someone higher-up in your deity's established church (probably Good, right?) to Planar Ally a 12HD Good Outsider (Archons are ideal) to help you crush the Rakshasas.

Is this accurate?

"Pathfinder is for character tinkering, 5e is for adventuring as a party. Are you the DM? I'd suggest 5e. If you're a player, honestly look at the parties of Players.

I've found that pathfinder is an attractor for weeaboos and furries while 5e has people more interested in role play.

5e also has adventurer's league, which means that If you level up a PC in one game, you can jump to another table with the same character."

As someone who's DMed both before, I cannot recommend 5E from a DMs perspective. I dreaded having to set up for game each week, since a) so much seems to lack cohesion or customizability, and b) the sheer vagueness of everything being "just ask the DM." With nothing to fall back on, it became frustrating to the point of asking why I wasn't just making my own game at that point.

It means you take a -3 penalty on Charisma based skill checks and ability checks.

This means that, unless you invest ranks in the appropriate skills, your character is a bad liar, not very convincing (you can't even get someone on the street to give you directions at DC 10 most of the time), bad at making threats, bad with animals, unable to convincingly act as someone else, has little influence over magical items, and is shit at playing the tuba. It also means you can easily be convinced to do things you wouldn't otherwise want to when you're charmed, and if for some reason you can bind outsiders it takes a lot of effort to subject them to your will.

All of those can be mitigated with skillpoints aside from the issues with Charm effects and binding. Charisma has no other affect on your character, and you're free to roleplay it as much or as little as you want; there's no standard and you don't even have to acknowledge it beyond the mechanical ramifications on your attempts to do certain things if you don't want to.

Son, the first 3pp PUBLISHED for the system was a My Little Pony supplement.

You want a mostly-unbiased account of the differences from someone who loves both?

Pathfinder has more options and makes you feel like a big damn hero, but you don't often feel like you were likely to fail at any given point, and it also feels like it's due at least in part to the GDP-costing armoury bedecking you, rather than your abilities. Which can be a plus or a minus, depending on the person. It's easy to set up, thanks to a wealth of weirdly-specific resources splattered all over the web, and the ability to spend ten seconds porting something from 3.5 if you can't find a PF thing you need.

5e is newer, has fewer options (partly by design, partly due to simply less time). It's harder to set up, but easier to run. Magic items feel more special, and you more often feel a sense of agency, like you could've fucked up and died just there, but you didn't. A lot of concepts just don't WORK in 5e, due to lack of options, but thankfully, 3pp is starting to pour in, and that's shrinking. 5e has more players, is growing faster, and has markedly shrunk (though not eliminated) the martial/caster disparity (and the monk is decent! How cool is that!)

Pathfinder tries to micromanage out-of-combat, while 5e takes its hands off the wheel and says "up to you, dude". Which approach is better depends entirely on the group.

My favorite twist on the Arushaelae situation is still the time two CN clerics were in the party, and set about convincing her that good was overrated and that there was no need to change herself even further just to win that slut Desna's approval.

What is the optimal build to both kill and usurp Ahriman?

You'd want limited wish, unless there's a way to cast holy word as an NE character that I'm not aware of. You'd want something to guard against ability drain. Suppose you'd want to shut down his teleportation just in case, and then you'd need a crew with +4 holy weapons to beat his regen away with.

Zen Archer, Sohei and Qingong were good because they gave the Monk options that were strictly better than the things they replaced (ranged fighting ability and some magic for garbage class features).

The base Monk and the majority of archetypes for it tried to pretend that being a d8 HD class with no armor and that is FAR too MAD to pump their stats for solid AC, was an effective martial character, and it just straight fucking wasn't.

UC Monk is much better in that regard, but I'd honestly rather play a Steelfist Commando Warlord or Dervish Defender Warder any day of the fucking week.

>>46401355
Wouldn't a frostfallen dragon lose like half the shit it can do?
>>
>>46401270
Yeah let's assess this shit:
• Monks need Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and Wisdom. If they are bad at any of these they either die or are useless, no joke.
• Monks' main focus and source of "scaling" is just having class features whose only job is to MAKE UP for not using weapons and armor. And they suffer severe disadvantages even then: The replacements scale from pitiful values at low levels to shit that looks okay on paper but is actually not worth it at all at late levels because your friends have been able to enhance their weapons to +10 equivalents and you haven't! And you had to pay extra to even get yours up to +5!
• Your armor class is going to be horrible, okay? You have an AC bonus and that's nice but you didn't get to put an 18 in Dex and Wis together, so you're not as safe as some Fighter who put on a basic chain shirt.
• Your hit dice for a class with low AC in the frontline are a sick and cruel joke. d8 and requiring a stressed split in attribute investment is not a good life.
• Your battle-action class features are moving extra fast, and having to STAND PERFECTLY STILL TO ATTACK RAPIDLY WITH IRRITATINGLY LOW ATTACK BONUSES. Is that synergy?

Not such as you'd think.

Consider the humble zombie or skeleton:
>any natural armor is reset to a shitty value based solely on size
>all defensive abilities are lost
>no special attacks retained
>all-important Charisma score gets reset to 10, 14 at best with variants
>no provision to keep senses beyond the standard undead darkvision

Now the frostfallen:
>natural armor bonus improves by +4 from the base value
>no defensive abilities lost, they only gain DR and cold immunity
>frostfallen creature retains all of the base creature’s special attacks, gains HD-scaling cold damage on attacks and as a defensive measure
>base creature's Charisma is not only maintained, but improved by +6
>lifesense on top of darkvision, AKA blindsight for all non-construct/undead purposes

Frostfallen lose very little of what makes dragons offensive powerhouses. Feats is the only thing you'll really miss, but between the storm of natural attacks with added cold damage, the breath weapon, and the naturally high Charisma and natural armor, a frostfallen dragon packs a punch.

I had an adult black in one campaign (with boosted stats via some alchemy shit it did, it was a temp-BBEG) that consistently out-damaged a paladin and a zen archer, despite the campaign being almost entirely undead and the paladin having share-smite via Oath of Vengeance. All the upkeep I did was healing it and throwing an AoMF on its neck to get it past DR/magic

24 hours to raise rhe person before the familiar's sentience goes seems a fair general rule.

I don't want to ruin anyone elses fun because they genuinely enjoy their characters.Besides none of the templates really appealed to me and I feel like they wouldn't really fix anything. 1/3 of the party mentioned above is using templates anyway.

And I applied the Brawlers passive Martial Flexibility and Damage Dice with the Stalker's Initiating.

We need to know the details... As well as if you're actually enjoying it or not.

Because you don't seem bothered by the ERP.

Come to think of it, if a dead master's Familiar used those 24 hours to take a class level, would it keep its Familiar abilities too?

Considering those two things only make you slightly better at the thing you are already good at, you're pretty much playing a single-classed character in a party of gestalts.

Gestalt is NOT for combining two fighting classes that have good synergy, it's for picking up additional options and problem-solving. It also sounds like you somehow have picked the worst possible maneuvers, especially since Broken Blade is one of THE most powerful disciplines right now, and you should meet literally every requirement for using it properly.

There is always the matter of exceptions, always is. I am sure there may be rare cases of former familiar retaining a spark of the magic that triggers them into Awakening on their own. There is after all at least one awakened animal with class levels in the APs, a raven druid in jade regent.

also consider the Archetypes. I dooubt a divine emissary would become a normal animal if the master died since it is implied to be divinely appointed. So it probably just gets sent off to it's next potential master whoever is in charrge deems fit.

Sage familiars could potentially be more likely to become awakened on their own.

I'd still seriously consider asking the party to tone down their characters at least a little bit, and at the same time build yours to be more potent. Perhaps trade Stalker for Aurora Soul Mystic, or hell just ask if you can get the Advanced template if nothing else is jumping out to you.

If you're not having fun, it's not really a matter if everyone else is; you're part of everyone, and so you need to have fun too.

if i was familiar and my master died i would prolly go kill rats untill I gained a single class level. not resting until I do. I would make sure it was bard too. Now I don't need to be top todd to get all the vixens I want.

>Aurora Soul Mystic
I think Mystic Recovery is a hassle, hence why I went through the whole song and dance of getting animus on a non mystic

You haven't seen these characters, I'm a little under WBL but the advanced template isn't fixing anything by a long shot.

I mean it's nice watching them do a bunch of dumb shit, I haven't gotten into another characters build because he's less of a character and arguably more of a force of nature. I just wish I could do something to a not mook and not need a 20 to do it.

New FAQ might make some people happy?

>Greater Feint: Greater Feint says the target is denied its Dexterity bonus to AC until the beginning of my next turn in addition to against my next attack. Is that just against my attacks, which probably won’t be more than just my next attack until my next turn, or is it against my allies as well?
>Greater Feint makes the target lose its Dexterity bonus against all melee attacks by anyone until the start of your next turn, not just you. Unless a feint ability specifically mentions ranged attacks (like the Ranged Feint feat), it always denies Dexterity bonus against melee attacks.

Giving her the D every night
Alternatively, maybe finding a little place with food from home or something like that if she's feeling homesick? I dunno.
