How exactly does land speed scale as a creature grows via HD advancement? If I've got a Tiny creature with a 20 ft speed, will that go to 30 at Small or Medium? Will it speed up or slow down when it goes beyond Medium to Large and Huge?

It's a worthless trait unless you're one of the few classes that uses it. Skills and traits are not for characters, they're for builds. Stop trying to mix the two.

Kill them, summon a cacodaemon, get their soul in a gem, and use the soul gem as a substitute for part of the item's crafting costs. Text from Book of the Damned part three for reference:
>Souls are especially useful in the creation of intelligent items. In these cases, usually only one soul crystallizes as the intelligence embedded into the item, though other souls may be cannibalized in the item’s creation. Item alignment, item ability scores, and languages spoken by the item mirror those of the soul used to provide the item’s intelligence. Scholars have long debated whether the intelligence in such an item is the soul used, or if the soul is destroyed and the intelligence is only patterned on it—the implication being that recovered intelligent objects (especially of daemonic origin) might be destroyed in order to liberate the souls used in their construction. As instances of both have been reported over the centuries, the question remains open, though few adventurers are willing to destroy their prized weapons based on conjecture.

What if I want to be a Kitsune that's light on her feet and knows how to swish them tails?

Dancing is great, and very useful for social situations.

No fuck that fuck you if I'm a sweet immortal sword you fucking LEAVE me a sweet immortal sword, I don't want to get melted, thawed, and resolved into a dew
>>
>>46159975
Luckily, Create Soul Gem is a spell you can learn without the need of a cacodaemon.
But yeah, this works.
>>
>>46159999

>>
>>46160038
Sure, but you're waiting two extra levels and have to provide the 25 gp gem yourself. Create Soul Gem also needs you to start casting the very round the creature dies, whereas a cacodaemon is good for a full minute after death.
>>
>>46159461
How fun would it be to play a wizard who uses his unused spell slots to Stone to Flesh, Shape Stone, Flesh to Stone your party members while they slept. Every morning they'd wake up and they'd have one extra dick.

There is a number of Warder maneuvers that mention making an opposed attack roll using their "base attack bonus plus shield bonus to AC". Does it mean that you're not using any other bonuses you'd normally get on your attack rolls?

Let's be perfectly honest with each other, senpai.

How much effort do you put into making your character's build reflect their personality, or their personality reflect their roleplay?

Because I've ran into too many people who make characters with backstories and everything, but in-game they're limp noodles.

Why are you using a dagger when you've got clubs and maces?
>>
>>46159461
Shrink them down using what, though? If you use use a spell that targets objects, I'd rule that once you flesh to stone them back alive, they're no longer an object and any such spell ends due to the target no longer being a legal target. If you're using something that could also target a creature, then there's no point in stone to fleshing them first anyway.
>>
W-wait! With Stone to Flesh, could I totally go Pygmalion and sculpt myself a waifu? Craft the perfect woman of stone, animate her as a stone golem, then Stone to Flesh? Would that work?
>>

You do realize that not everybody builds their characters to be perfectly efficient little murder-machines, right?
>>
>>46160394
You don't understand. If you aren't min-maxxed and optimized, it isn't FUN.
>>
>>46160385
No, Stone to Flesh allows SR and a stone golem isn't transformed into flesh.

"A stone to flesh spell does not actually change the golem's structure but negates its damage reduction and immunity to magic for 1 full round."

Just make the statue an animated object and then Stone to Flesh it, it's much cheaper and less resistable. That way it would work just fine, although you couldn't ensure the personality
>>
>>46160385
Totally, go for it anon!

I'm certainly not lying, nor will I be setting up cameras to capture the moment when your dreams are crushed as your statue collapses into useless dead meat.

I asked last night and didn't really get any responses

Livia the Bard-a-din hit level 7 last night

Now i just have to figure out the feats

i already have these via house rules, already taken feats, or class features

combat expertise
power attack
fey foundling
arcane strike
combat casting
furious focus
greater mercy
disruptive

what do for my level 7 feat. I'm currently even getting enough healing out that i'm not sure I even need extra LoH which is what I was gonna do before. Between Hero's defiance and my current pile of LoH I can literally facetank entire dungeons
>>
>>46160241
It says to use only your base attack bonus plus your shield bonus, so you use only your base attack bonus plus your shield bonus. It's the word "only" that makes it clear.
>>
>>46160445
Yeah, modify memory, charm person, suggestion, and hypnotism, for example. Or lots of confabulation powder.
>>
>>46160445
Also, it'd need to be a lifespark construct or some such, otherwise it would still have Int - and be a vegetable. I mean, it'd be alive, but still a coma patient.
>>
>>46160511
There's Awaken Construct for that. Okay, so here's how this would have to go down.

Step 1: Sculpt yourself the perfect woman out of stone.
Step 2: Animate Object
Step 3: Awaken Construct
Step 4: Stone to Flesh
Step 5: Weeks of mental programming using Modify Memory, Hypnotism, Suggestion, Charm Person, ect
Step 6: ??????
Step 7: Waifu!
>>
>>46160306
Hey, it's stone-to-flesh, not stone-to-all your shit back.
>>
>>46160431
>>46160445
But if Stone to Flesh negates the golem's immunity to magic for one round, that means you can cast Stone to Flesh again during that second round and have it affect the golem like the spell would normally affect stone. Since the spell's duration is instantaneous, that means it's permanent, and the golem's immunity to magic returning the next round won't undo the whole process.
>>
>>46160575
That's...that's genius.
>>
>>46160448
Except it doesn't say "only".
>>
>>46160543
Awaken construct's high level with a very expensive material component, though.

I wonder if it'd just be cheaper to kidnap some girl, petrify and shape her, then put her through the conditioning.

>>46160575
>>46160585
You'd need a second guy for that, though, but yeah, it'd work.
>>
>>46160603
>I wonder if it'd just be cheaper to kidnap some girl, petrify and shape her, then put her through the conditioning.
But anon, that would be the act of an Evil wizard. Building a waifu from scratch is, like, neutral at worst.
>>
>>46160589
Oh, I thought it did, my mistake. Huh... sounds like anything that's a flat bonus to attacks would probably apply, then, just not things like your Strength bonus or the like.
>>
>>46160625
I'm honestly thinking of using this whole process as the character goal of a half-mad elf wizard attempting to recreate his human wife who died centuries ago
>>
>>46160278
Roleplaying is why I'm here.

Mechanics are a tool I use to make my character do the thing I want them to do within the story.

ITT: wizards brainstorm how to make their waifu.

Okay, the transmutation specialist figured out how to get the body, now we need our enchantment specialist to make the mind. You could use Impart Mind, but that's only temporary.
>>
>>46160603
>I wonder if it'd just be cheaper to kidnap some girl, petrify and shape her, then put her through the conditioning.
The problem, of course, which people aren't talking about, is this pesky line from Stone to Flesh for petrified creatures:
>The creature must make a DC 15 Fortitude save to survive the process
You only get a 1 in 4 chance your girl's gonna live through the process. You'd need to kidnap a lot of girls before you could be certain one of them will make it.
>>
>>46160658
He could just use clone or something, though, couldn't he?

Or, even better, he petrified his wife himself and he recreates her periodically to make sure the original never dies, while he still has his wife around.
>>
>>46160678
>wizards brainstorm how to make their waifu.
I didn't make it to 30 as a virgin for nothing.

Reminder that when Xanderghul, the chief pimplord of Thassilon and only wizard known to match Baba Yaga, wanted a perfect waifu, he didn't fuck around with your pansy transmutations trying to craft a statue woman like those pussy greedlords in Shalast.
>The runelord conjured a princess of the ghaele azatas to his court, and for years subtly courted her while wrapping her in a phantasmagoria of masterful illusions and deceptions, twisting her perception of reality until she accepted the runelord as her master. Baraket rose as one of the most unlikely of the runelords’ champions, a deceived celestial being whose consciousness lingered on even after she was slain over a century later by the agents of the empyreal lord Chadali—emissaries attempting to liberate her.

If you can't get an azata princess to ride your dick purely through your manly appearance, you've got no right to call yourself a wizard when Xanderghul might be around to hear. And Xanderghul could be anywhere.

Nigga I just referenced it because of how shit it was.
>For centuries the transmuters of Shalast idealized the arcane pursuit of transfiguring lead into gold. Upon unlocking that secret, they sought even more challenging and dangerous transformations, among which was the quest to turn gold into living f lesh. Presenting their master with the petrifying blade they’d created, the arcanists of Runeforge included a second wondrous gift, a woman of living gold they called Chellan. She excelled at all things—art, dance, song, magic, swordsmanship—and it seemed fitting that she would bear the blade that birth from Runeforge made her sibling. But Chellan’s time proved short, and after 5 brief years of reducing the enemies of Shalast to rubble, her unperfected animating forces dissipated—all except for those vestiges of calculating fanaticism that imprinted upon the blade that came to bear her name.
Wow, your perfect statue waifu lasted a whole five fucking years before she fell the fuck apart, good job Runelord Goldmember.

I need help, /pfg/: what possible use can I put Smite Good to in a non-evil campaign? Tyrant has opened up a world of new antipaladin possibilities, but I can't help but feel gypped that a primary class features will just sit there unused forever.

All I've managed to dig up is the Lion Cloak, which will let me trade smite uses for 10 minutes of beast shape II, but I'm not really gonna get much use out of wasting my action economy shifting back and forth in a fight. Any other ideas? Alternatives?
>>
>>46161333
Familiar archetypes to allow greater diversity in character building. Also familiars seem to have better system support overall as apposed to Companions. Plus it seems a bit more thematically appropriate since the critter is essentially sharing your intelligence with you.

Also, skill bonuses are rather nice
>>
>>46161327

All the shelynites I've seen have usually been on the younger, innocent side, although I suppose ara ara~ can also be beautiful to Shelyn.

Inquisitor works well with Bolt Ace, if you want to be a non T1 Divine Caster, and they don't get anything particularly impressive after 15th level that you would miss out on anyway

I made it a companion because they scale better natively for martial combat. I made it /that/ companion because birds suck so I could get away with giving them free kung fu without breaking shit. I neither knew nor cared about familiar archetypes and honestly I still don't.

15 higher? No go fuck yourself.

What you can do is find a master alchemist and convince him to make it for you. A cl 20 pot would be 3x20x50=3k per pot. Is that the craft price or store buying price? Either way you'd need to convince him or her you are worth spending two or three days to make one for you. Meanwhile he could just be making philosopher stones for free money. Also you could just get someone to cast permanency on you and keep the benefit constantly, and it would rarely be dispelled thanks to the 20 caster level not going to be overcome by level 5 assholes anytime soon.
>>
>>46161510
>Is that why Erastilian and Shelynite adventurers get along so well?

Yes, and it's why I think more people who want to play an eligible bachelor(ette) interested in settling down should choose Shelyn rather than Erastil.

Erastil wants babies because it perpetuates the community, to him it is a duty. Shelyn wants babies because it's the ultimate expression of love, to her the pitter-patter of small feet on hardwood floors is as sweet as any symphony.

So a while back there was the shadow stuff update, and the metamagic to turn light spells from turning up one level to down one level. It somehow slipped my mind for ages that drug addiction is a disease per rules, and thus paladins and some other classes are immune to it. Nothing says 'holy warrior' like habitual use of +1d4 Cha harlot sweets, eh?
>>
>>46162520
I don't mind that they like her, I want them to see her protection as important, because it means they're buying the plot.

What I don't want is her to be on-screen for the rest of the game. If she has a 5000gp bounty on her head, them keeping her hidden just means everything they do from now on has to consider whether or not she's still safe. It distracts from the plot.

So, /pfg/, what kind of things do you think "make" a companion creature? How much should a class be invested in one, and how strong is too strong? Is giving a class the option to grant a companion bonus feats, proficiencies with weapons and armor, etc. kosher? How would you weigh special, unique abilities against basic things like extra feats or better ability scores?

Coming up with interesting construct companion alternatives is much more difficult than I expected.

one of my players wants to be a vampire, he's styling it based on the traditional horror variety and not the lame kind so I wanna let him do this. Two questions tho

- How does stats work? unlike older versions of d&d you don't take level penalties or anything right? he just has to be minimum level 5?

- How does the sunlight thing work? Would a parasol or completely covering clothing prevent it, or no?
>>
>>46163295

Homebrew a proper base race or race template that's give and take in the same fair way Dragonborn is.
>>
>>46163231

i will take.
>>
>>46163296
Look in the DSP book Lords of the Night. There's a less complicated vampire template in there that's just CR +1 (and designed so you can treat lit ike a +1 level adjustment), with feats and a prestige class for vamp-specific power.

Just sticking the Bestiary vampire template on is a bad idea because it adds tons of powers but crippling weaknesses at the same time, so either they're too good or they suck without much in between.
>>
>>46163296
>How does stats work? unlike older versions of d&d you don't take level penalties or anything right? he just has to be minimum level 5?

Short answer is that they don't. There isn't any real system in place for playing monstrous characters.
>>
>>46163362
I'm already running Rise of the Runelords with low wealth / low magic items, but they're so min-maxed that everything's a walk in the park. I'm probably going to disband the campaign soon, I can't take this shitty fucking system any more.
>>
>>46163296
Use the Dhampir race, add the Unusual Origin (dhampir) feat for a bite attack, then use PoW classes to make a super bite attack every turn.

Harbinger even has a vampire themed archetype that drains blood out of people, and can get an undead themed discipline (Unquiet Grave) that gets temp hp from doing attacks.

>How does the sunlight thing work? Would a parasol or completely covering clothing prevent it, or no?

I would rule that just being in sunlight is enough and whatever UV rays/magic nonsense can't be blocked by just not having direct contact with the skin

otherwise every single vampire would just take a level dip in aegis and have the skin cover their entire body at all times
>>
There's a few tier 3 archetyped versions of non-tier 3 classes in the tier list in the OP's links. Are there any others around like that that haven't gotten into that list?

Trying to make an 8th level Magical Girl that makes it Homunculus appear to be its twin. Mauler and Hat of Disguise would work, but then the Mauler couldn't talk. Decoy can't do it until level 11, and even if I go Figment and Evolved Familiar to give it evolution points, I can only evolve it into a Large size.
