First time to /tg/. I expected more traditional games and not all this new stuff.
Anyway, are mahjong threads common. I'd like a place to discuss intermediate strategy for Japanese rules, in English.
I am too readable with my richis. I want more spontaneous Rons with pinfu/tanyao combos and the likes. Any advice?
Attached is my recent lucky Koushi Musou.
I'd like to help you but i have no idea what you just said because my brain is too filled with knowledge about elves and robots.
Best of luck on your search for fellow mahjong players.

sometimes there are threads about chess, go or traditional card games
it's that too, you may find someone to talk to
>>46029030
Sorry, /tg/ generally isn't lesbian enough to play Mahjong.

"I'm 15 years old, and I don't know how much fun gambling is."
>>46029030
Mahjong is one of things that I wished we talked about on this board.
It's considered weeb as fuck though.
>>46029312
Op here. I'm married, living in my wife's hometown, and her family owns a mahjong parlor. I don't deny being a weeb, but I love gambling.

Sometimes there are threads on /jp/ and on /a/, but it's more to find other people to play in tenhou than to discuss the proper games (which are off topic in /a/).
For example: >>>/jp/14888809
(Prepare a jp-proof suit of armor)
>>46029030
Richii mahjong isn't particularly common in America, unless you take the time to teach your friends. Most people play chinese mahjong or classic.
>>46029323
Are you where in the world? I too am married but I do not live in my wife's hometown with her. I want into mahjong.

I've recently started playing riichi and would like to see more mahjong threads as well.
>>46029874
Riichi has been associated with /jp/ and /a/. There's a regular riichi thread in /jp/, so if you want to talk about it and arrange some games over >>46029768 , you can visit the thread.
>>46029931
Fuck /jp/ man, that place is cancer. Also, they obsessively use nip words and my mahjong nip vocabulary is not up to snuff so I can barely follow what they're talking about. We should just talk about mahjong on here and use English. TRUMP 2016
>>46029224
this, go to /jp/ for the lesbian mahjong threads.
>>46029951
just go watch saki, and the 2 akagi shows.

Sorry, I forgot. Yamagata, Japan
>>46029482
Thank you very much. I'll check it out.
>>46029768
Than you. It looks perfect

>Yamagata
Aaah. Very beautiful area. Toyko here.
>>46029951
Looks like a cancer board, but for richi majong you have to learn the hands (yaku) in japanese. Check the wiki.
>>46030076
It'still cold as fuck here. You get cherry blossoms yet down there?
>>46030093
A few, but this year I have yet to take part in the Japanese tradition of "sitting on blue plastic in Ueno park while drinking beeru".

I know all the yaku, but only know the nipponese names for about half.
>>46030158
I learned mahjong in Japanese, so I don't know most of the Eng names for them...
>>46030182
Some of them are kind of clumsy and my playgroup uses the jap names for some, like pinfu, rinshan kaihou, etc. But other we use English names for, like 7 pairs, all triplets, three closed triplets, all green.
Tenhou is great while avoiding /jp/. Thanks guys.
