To the guy last thread wondering about the K-Wing in XWM, it's pretty great for a couple reasons. The primary turret and the turret slot make it a flexible mini-Falcon, the ordinance and SLAM option make for a pretty crazy bomber or missile carrier with more than one shot, and the fact that it has those turret options and no red on its dial makes it extremely friendly to a brand new casual player in a pickup game.

In spite of how derpy I find the actual ship design, it's got a really good niche carved out in the game.

Explains why the Finalizer could only barely shoot down that TIE while it managed to fuck up quite a bit of it's hull.
>>
>>44364028
I almost bought that as their shields being down but those heavyly armoured turrets just splating was really odd. I guess the SF tie might be using those high power cells but still.

I almost feel like the FFG raider should just be canonised as it fills the role of an actual destroyer so well.
>>
>>44364112

Things get fucked up when you don't have shields. Looks like they had missile-turrets for anti-fighter defense, though. That's bound to fuck someone up, and they did.

>>44364112

The FFG Raider is pretty boss as a small capital ship.
>>
>>44364028
It was firing missiles at it, which are not in the official stats, and the one that hit exploded away from the body.

They also manually disabled the cannons on the ship, which weren't 3,000.

Those stats are "the gozanti is 30 meters long" levels of fucked.
>>
>>44361576
Don't worry, it'll be retconned and changed to something more realistic, and then the canon will eventually be reset bla bla bla.

The Force Awakens questions

Who were Rey's parents? Luke and someone else?

Supreme Leader Snoke? My theory is the projection isn't what he really looks like

Is Finn force sensitive?
>>
>>44364287
Maybe.
Probably.
I hope so.
>>
>>44364287
Finn can't use the force, it's why he had to sit the duel out while the proper force users did everything.

Rey is Luke and Leia's daughter. Hand and Luke finally shared.

Supreme Leader has a very high chance of being an emperor clone in the same vein as the silly novels.
>>
>>44363012
Man, that would've been something. They fly in and find the SKB studded with point defense apertures. Suddenly a thousand black glossy eyes focus in and bzzzrt.
>>
>>44364344
it's also why his part of the duel was actually good. They even used the cigarette lighter bit in a cute way.

>>
>>44364287
We just don't know. Her being his daughter doesn't really make sense. But it being left as a mystery kind of implies that it will be meaningful when it's revealed. If it's not a twist then why keep it a mystery? I kind of think that it's just an Abrams marketing thing. He did a talk, I think it was a ted talk, about mysteries and how they're great tool to get people's interest. So I wouldn't put it past him to make her parentage a mystery purely to give us something to speculate about, even though it's actually not important.

I kind of assume that he isn't that big, but other than that, there's not really anything to use as a base for further speculation.

No real reason to think so.

I'm still weirded out by this "resistance" having the latest model of x-wing in spades. No older ships in their fleet whatsoever.
>>
>>44364658
Because they wanted to start small with everything and not have information overload that your average viewer wouldn't be able to handle. So they mostly kept it to just the Falcon, X-Wings and a couple different TIEs for the stuff you get a real look at in TFA.
>>
>>44364658
Possibly retired and replaced by B-wings off-screen. One of the Resistance ships is an ugly with parts from a B-wing "Mark II." Still, it's pretty odd that nobody bothered sending the Resistance any attackers or strike fighters.

Wiki says different. The T-70 is actually not a brand-spankin' new model, but a few models behind. The Republic apparently uses T-85s, whatever those are, and gives the Resistance its old tech.
Probably going to see them getting newer ships in the later movies, since now the Resistance might be all they have.
>>
>>44364787
The YT-1300 is an early clone wars era freighter, over a hundred years old. Doesn't stop it, why would it stop anything else in star wars land.
>>
>>44364811
How many models did they burn through in thirty years?

If anything, it should be more like
t-65
t-65a
t-65-ig
and keep adding new letters and numbers for the different variants as the electronics and other shit get updated. t-70 implies it's a whole new model, which shouldn't have happened more than once in the time period. Unless the t-70 underperformed to sub-t-65 levels of garbage and forced them to commision a new model early. Which means the resistance is literally getting garbage.

>>44364827
The Falcon was a one-of-a-kind custom job that was heavily modified over the years. Even then, it was still a rustbucket by the OT era. Refitting and upgrading a galaxy's worth of Y-wings takes a hell of a lot more money, time, and resources than keeping an old freighter in service. After Endor, it was probably more cost-effective to replace the Y-wing completely than to pour money into keeping the old girl competitive.

I know it became a simple fact screeched by the howler monkeys of the Internet, but how do you actually feel about Han Solo's death?
>>
>>44364951
My reasoning is more "the resistance is a bunch of faggots, why do they have top of the line shit?" Heck, I would have been happy just with them having a few T-65s mixed in with their T-70s.
>>
>>44364906
Model designations are not purely sequential in practice, prototypes, trainers or weird/failed designs that got designations can cause skips

Between the start of the unified designation system in 1962 and the introduction of the F-16 in 1978 the United States got through 16 numbers in 16 years.

T-65 to T-85 in 30 is perfectly reasonable. And the T-70 is clearly a new spaceframe with different wings, a different hull and different engines. It just has the same basic shape.

It's more that they burned through three models on a ship that was top of the line. With the new republic probably splurging on new infrastructure after taking over.

I have a hard time believing they went "let's make a new better fighter than this fighter that outperforms everything" made it and then went "lol, let's make a new fighter that out performs this new fighter that outperfoms the fighter that outperformed everything" AGAIN! In the space of 30 years. While rebuilding THOUSANDS of systems.
>>
>>44365068
Generally, it was okay, even good. I think it would be rather awkward for him to stay in the finale, as he wouldn't fit in anywhere in the dynamic of Rey/Finn/Ren fight. Other than that, I must admit that I haven't found the moment very emotional, because seriously, who'd believe that the villain of all the time until then would now suddenly jump ship? IMO that Han would die was painfully obvious from the moment he stepped on that narrow catwalk thing, but other than that, I liked this scene.

Two new designs in 30 years is entirely reasonable. There is plenty of real life precedent for starting to design the next generation before you even finish producing the new one. Europe still went ahead with producing end of WW2 designs despite their ruined countries. And just like post WW2 Europe had the USSR to worry about the New Republic had the remnants of the Empire.

In the old EU the E wing was only 4-5 years after Endor so its hardly the first time this has happened in Star Wars either.

It's surge abilities are for +2 damage and Pierce 2, so it packs a pretty good punch. And it has 2 modification slots, so you can upgrade it to suit your tastes. I'd probably say there are better weapons, but not more flexible ones. Give it a Marksman Barrel and Underbarrel HH-4 and put it in Loku's hands and it has 9 guaranteed accuracy.

Republic military is probably a lot better funded and equipped than these Resistance fighters fighting their proxy wars.

Spoilers:
Well, WAS a lot better. If even one of those planets held the Republic's standing fleet or army, the Resistance with their surplus military tech might be all they have left. Pretty sure they mentioned that the attack would fuck up the Republic's armada as well, so the Resistance might really be the last men standing with little support from the Republic.
>>
>>44365845
I recall someone telling general Leia that they lost "the fleet" during the star-killer base briefing. Not sure if they meant another Resistance fleet of surplus X-wings, or the New Republic's fleet.
>>
>>44365417
Ultimately, it's because they started with Edge of the Empire. This made them focus more on being in a freighter side of things. So it didn't make as much sense to be doing crazy maneuvers and there was the extra Hull to compensate.

They sort of balanced this with the squadron rules, but ultimately, a pilot in a starfighter can't really hold out much on his own without a fuckton of the really good piloting talents and thinking outside the box. Basically, treat the game as you normally would with personal-scale combat, don't assume the maneuvers and actions in the book are the only ones available to you, try different things to put the piloting skill to use like flying at/in-between a squadron of TIEs to try and make them crash into each other/the environment.

I don't know, man, what other explosion was going on that might have destroyed their fleet? Could have been that their own ships were off at one of those Republic worlds when the weapon hit home.

But they did lose a lot of X-Wings, these TIEs don't look like flying garbage this time. How are they going to get reinforcements? They're back to how the Rebellion was at Yavin: some ships and a handful of fighters. I hope we start seeing them bring in some surviving Republic tech. I think it's safe to say the Resistance can come out of fighting in the shadows now with such an overt attack by the First Order.

I don't know, As retarded as the Republic is, even they wouldn't be dumb enough to concentrate their entire military, government, and industrial centers in the same system. I imagine there are other forces off screen that are just fine. After all, Mon Cala/Dac is part of the republic and presumably they still have their shipyards. If so, it'll be no problem for them to start cranking out new warships and the like, leaving our heroes in a much better position than at Yavin.

Plus, given that we never see more than a handful of star destroyers, what if the First Order is actually unable to press their advantage with starkiller base destroyed. Imagine all the time, resources, and manpower that went into building that base that weren't devoted to starship or other production.

I think they might be multiple tasks. He's noted in backstory as being a talented trooper, model material, even if he was just on basic trooper duty, hence his unfamiliarity with turrets and ships and stuff. Might be where they're getting their Special Forces.

Though they also mentioned they might be using clones for others, with the officer really pulling for natural born humans over clones, contending that they're just as reliable.

With the New Republic's size, even demilitarization shouldn't limit them to just one fleet. Having only one NR fleet, and one that small, would be fucking retarded. Logically, "the" fleet destroyed in the film should merely be "a" fleet in the NR's arsenal.

They did hit their senate, though. The center for galactic politics just went up in Snoke. The First Order is stated as seeing the New Republic as illegitimate, weak, and unable to hold the galaxy together. Could be that it was only tentatively holding the galaxy together, and without it, and in the face of a the First Order blowing up a whole star system at once, the New Republic could turtle and give in to fear pretty easily.

man, i really wish they'd devoted like two lines of the opening crawl or something to explaining the current political situation in The Force Awakens era.

So the first order is a separate political and geographical entity from the empire, right?
the majority of the surviving empire's military fucked off into the unknown regions and became the first order.

so what happened to the minor state that the old empire was reduced to? is it still around? does it have industry? does it trade with the new republic for survival? I wanna know more about this nation that has survived under the careful gaze of it's larger new republic neighbor. It could be interesting to see a nation that knows that it did terrible things in the past and is looking to atone. Hell maybe they could be the ones stopping the First order from steamrolling straight through the new republic.(but i doubt it)

Moreover, Kind of fucking lay out that the Resistance is basically a PMC funded by the some new republic senators that's fucking around First order territory to fuck them up. Also point out in the film that the new republic capitol is in hosnian or something when all we've known before is coruscant. The Empire surrendered after their defeat at Jakku. By the time of TFA, its just another seamless part of the Republic, in that it doesn't exist at all.

All the people who refused to surrender after Jakku fucked off to found the First Order.

I'd say either Battle of Hoth (the full suite) for a long answer, and the men's chorus at 5:00 in Battle of Endor II when Luke finally breaks and starts beating tar out of Vader.

The long answer is for the fact that the music is tied so well to the events on screen, it's become almost indelible - to this day, I can still hear and see "Ah, our first catch of the day" at just the right moment.

And the short one - Luke circles the drain, and he doesn't even care. So much like his father when someone he loves is threatened.

He had seven different props. Some were driven, others were nailed to the floor and puppeted. Each had its purpose for expressing character or just moving around in a realistic manner.

Of course, Star Wars hit the nail on the head by essentially just making their child or otherwise annoying characters droids. They sound less annoying, you don't have to deal with cute lines and child-voice because they just beep and boop, they aren't emotive, so act more through motion, manner, and sound than facial expressions, and they're literally pieces of scenery of the setting, being robots that populate it and can act in it in their own way.

Finn was a janitor, he says it in the movie. Entering combat left him dazed and unable to engage, the sight of blood terrified him. Someone who has been training his whole life would, at the very least, have his muscle memory do all the shit he's supposed to do, even if poorly.

His backstory says he was actually a promising candidate for the Officer Corps. He was written up for going back to save his buddies on multiple occasions. Sanitation was probably his day job when he wasn't out killing. Some pull guard duty, some run patrols, and some have to fix the shitter and handle the garbage.

I mean, how come he suddenly becomes competent at fighting when he's on foot and fighting? Is he using his conscript training that worked out so well when he was squeamish at the sight of blood? Just highly selective combat competence? Better explanation is just that he's sanitation on one shift, pulled in and out of combat rotation to give others a break.

>Quick reminder that Luke had about five minutes of training with a lightsaber and NONE of it included actually fighting against an other opponent. Remember Ben sparring with Luke? Nope. It was just him playing around with a robot that tased him

>Do you remember Yoda sparring with Luke? Nope. He was teaching him about the Force but we never saw him ONCE teaching him how to actually fight with a lightsaber. Luke had precisely ZERO experience when it came to fighting with a lightsaber. And yet none of you said anything when Luke actually kept up with Vader and later on actually defeated Vader

When using a force power, you roll force dice equal to your current force rating. So a starting character rolls 1 ?
>>

List 1: Deadeye on Rendar is useless because none of his weapons require a target lock in the first place.

List 2: You can switch the Omega pilots to Epsilon pilots and save 4 points. The other upgrades aren't that great, and you might be better of stripping it all down to add another TIE/fo.

I'll try to post characters Monday afternoon, then. Their backgrounds will be very bare bones, left for the players to fill in the details.

Does anyone know a form-fillable character sheet for FFG Star Wars? That could speed this up quite a bit.

The canon novella "Weapon of the Jedi" actually has Luke go through lightsaber training in a decayed Jedi Temple, using multiple drones akin to what Obi-Wan had on the Falcon.

Also
>kept up with Vader

Nigga, what? Vader was toying with Luke on Bespin. He wasn't even remotely trying to kill him. And on the DS2, Vader was conflicted about his loyalty to Palpatine, or his loyalty to his son.

Quick reminder that you're a faggot.

Quick reminder that it took Luke three years just to pull his lightsaber two feet into his hand.

Quick reminder Rey pulls the saber several yards on her first try moments after discovering she has any power at all.

Quick reminder it took Luke another year to use the mind trick, a feat previously only seen from a venerable Jedi Master.

Quick reminder Rey does this on her second try as her first use of the Force.

Quick reminder Luke had Ben's Force ghost guiding him during the trench run and on Hoth.

Quick reminder Rey never had a mentor of any sort but is an excellent pilot, linguist, staff fighter, mechanic, shooter, Force-user and lightsaber duelist all on her first try.

Quick reminder that no one really took Luke seriously at first except Ben, and even R2 was able to trick him and escape.

Quick reminder everyone loves Rey as soon as they meet her.

Quick reminder that while Kylo got grazed by the bowcaster, Rey was thrown several yards into the canopy of a tree then fell to the ground and wasn't slowed down at all.

And again, just a real quick reminder that you're a massive fucking faggot.

I think she's had more training and experience than she lets on, or something we're not familiar with is happening.

She was put on Jakku for a reason, maybe because someone saw which way the Jedi Academy was going, and decided to stuff her away for safety.

Yeah. Rey's just a particularly fast learner.

I mean yeah, it'd be stupid of me to expect in depth discussions about whether or not a military is necessary for the functioning of the state, but I just feel like the "No army for the republic" is just a contrived way of moving the military situation back to what it was in ANH.

I think your intentionally forgetting because your just trying to shitpost that apparently Lightsabers are not hard to use - Finn never used one in his life, and he didn't cut his own hands off

>>

>Lightsabers are not hard to use
That does seem to be something they've toned down since the EU. Possibly just because we don't have twenty thousand survivors of Order 66 sitting around.
>>
>>44369174
The mechanic bit wasn't that strange. She'd at least have to have some knowledge, being a scavenger for a living.

You forgot to mention how she was a bonafide jedi/rebellion expert, despite the fact that all of that shit has supposedly faded into myth and obscurity. You'd think a backwater dustball populated by nothing other than scrap dealers would be the last place you'd learn about the jedi, given they were already basically unknown at the time of A New Hope.
>>
>>44369290
can't help you there, sorry. there was a site with a TON of D6 related deckplans, that might have something, but I don't remember what it was.

The Delaya would be big enough to have deckplans, considering its a courier ship.

The X-9 is basically a patrol ship, slave-1 in size, basically - if it has any internal space, its small

>>44369298
I dig it - Lightsabers shouldn't be hard to use - people don't use them because their illegal, and not incredibly useful if your not a Jedi

>This factors in with the possibility that Rey is Luke's daughter.
Should probably be spoilering? though I'm not sure if that matters. I only saw the film yesterday like a loser.

Kylo seems to be using some powers we're not familiar with, ones off the scripted Jedi powers list. He's breaking into people's brains and paralyzing people and blaster bolts. Rey is... falling back on familiar tricks. She's unfolding her own powers which are more familiar like Mind Trick. Ones Obi-Wan used more often. Ones Luke would have learned.

It's HIGHLY probable that Rey is of the Skywalker bloodline. Her last name is left off on purpose. Anakin's lightsaber called to Rey, a representation of her family's legacy. Even her fighting style, which seems to lead with a lot of forward thrusts, is similar to the way Luke fought Vader in Return of the Jedi.
>>
>>44369316
Pretty sure you're thinking of >http://deckplans.00sf.com/Index.html
I gotta say it's really helpful, but I'll probably end up making my own deck plans. Thanks anyways m8

In Star Wars #12, Han, Leia, and Chewie all get lightsabers (because plot weirdness). Han notes he's having a hard time using it, Chewie just goes to town with no real issue, and Leia admits it's a difficult thing to wield.

It's not impossible for non-Force-sensitives to use a lightsaber, but unless you're experienced in melee combat as it is, you're probably going to have a difficult time with one.
>>
>>44369364
Also; the Skywalker theme plays when Rey taps into the force to fight Ren.

>>44369400
Rey does have a lifetime of experience with her staff.
>>
>>44369414

Theme is a good catch.

Hell, I was thinking Finn was going to have to step in and help her with those scavenger jerks, but she kicks ass handily... and then goes after him next.

> Her last name is left off on purpose

It's highly probable that Rey isn't her actual first name either. Her salvaged pilot helmet was once owned by a Dosmit Raeh.
>>
>>44369414
However, there is a vast difference between using a staff which can be held at and strike with any point on the weapon, and using a lightsaber, where 80% of it is plasma and all you have is a small grip.
>>
>>44369456

That's... a good theory as well.

Also catch the goddamned Beastie Boy and JJ references on Ello Asty?
>>
>>44369489
True. Before the movie came out I was hoping she would eventually get a lightpike.

So my collection of Star Wars LEGO is one shuttle Tydirium larger. Good times.

The Visual Dictionary mentions both the Remnanty and the First Order.

And treaties are mentioned for both.

>>44369174
She just added a little extra pull to Kylo's pull.

Interestingly enough despite Kylo's offer to teach her getting rejected hard, she actually learned a LOT from him.

Right after his mind-probe she figured out how to use a mind trick, and how to draw on his force pull and redirect it to her hand.

She seems to almost work on the same principle the Exile, Sith Assassins, and Darth Nihilus from KotOR 2 did back in the old canon.
>>
>>44369519
It does have the downside of being really easy to rek by slashing the body of it.
>>
>>44369500

Maybe she will. Might end up mounting that lightsaber on the end of her staff, or building her own. Finn's in a coma and in Resistance hands, and Rey is more than likely going to get some training. Given that the OT has three years between each movie, with VIII, we might well jump in three years after, possibly seeing the aftermath of the Republic's government being swept out from under it, as well as seeing what happens when the First Order starts making its formal incursion into Republic space.

It's also implied Kylos going to "finish his training," so we're going to see him get more powerful and her actually start her formal training.
