I am most definitely the latter. Granted, this is for a character I might not even play, but it's a party of martials that the GM is literally crafting magical ability templates to apply to the players so that they aren't completely bumfucked.

I'm essentially a backup plan to show them the light (of magic), but I don't need to be a nukelord or solves-everything.

I'm interested in playing a divine casters that takes advantage of minions. How does a cleric with the animal and inevitable domains that takes advantage of his animal companion and skeletons measure up against a straight druid with an animal companion?

Man I remember my favorite time splitting the party.

On the surface my hobgoblin fighter and the party kobold bard were having a duet performance duel to the death against the blue kobold matriarch and her daughter to prove once and for all my fighter was a better dancer and to win the daughter's heart for the bard.

Below the surface the party cleric and the party warlord were stuck in deadly combat in the warrens against a mindflayer blackguard riding displacer beast after having getting in the cross fire of the war between the kobold KGB and the mindflayer illuminati.

Not much going to come from it.

Basically, all the things the players have done so far in the service of the plot (hunting and killing Gaedren, hunting and killing the Rogue Guardsmen, hunting and killing Devargo) have all been playing into the hands of the Rakshasa Bahor (Glorio Arkona), who was using all of those people as a means of creating a mutated form of Shiver to distribute to the population to weaken the city so he can take over.

Now, all of that has already happened. The players did it all but didn't know any of the things they did were linked. This coming session, it's going to be revealed that they are all connected.

The issue I need to solve is: I need to find a way to have the players stop the super-drugs from making their way into the city, WITHOUT having to set up the Arkonas as the BBEG they need to hunt and kill. I can't come up with a way to wrap up the drug story-line in a way that has the players stopping it without having to confront a family of Rakshasa and being slaughtered.
>>
>>43953328
Well sort of, hovering in one place requires a Fly check which you're going to make at a penalty if you're grappled. Plus if you get attacked while flying, you need to make fly checks to maintain altitude. That doesn't really cover it fully, but there are SOME rules for it at least.

Updating my magus build, as I might get to play it soon if some people's schedules work out.

I'm a bit worried about the damage. Using bladed dash or dimension door as a pseudo-pounce means I don't actually do much damage, and I don't think I would last long in a melee fight with too many things. The shocking grasp combo is nicer, but I have to start within full attack range to use that well.

The will save is also a problem. Any advice or build tips?

>>43953521
have the rakshasas have some puppet-business or a scapegoat to take the fall if the connection gets found out--this is a family of schemers, they should have such measures in place anyway.

or have the players find that the events were connected, but not to whom--maybe they find a planning room acknowledging the events as part of a plan, but no evidence as to who was upkeeping the room.

the latter creates an unknown for the party to worry over on their own time--let the players create their own intrigue and it both saves you the trouble and makes them feel more immersed.

I second this. The rakshasas have some early fail-safe to keep them insulated from any potential problem. They value their own lives more than one specific plot, and will know when to cut and run instead of risking everything in an open battle over just one little plot. Have the players discover the poison or whatever, then fight the guys in charge of making it and delivering it, while only hinting that there is a bigger force in the shadows controlling the poison makers.
>>
>>43953759
or hell, have the stuff in the room implicate someone unrelated!
>>
>>43953589
I'm not sure dimensional agility is worth it. You can now spell-combat at crazy range, but its a whole feat for a spell you can use at most three times a day. If you are at the range where bladed dash won't work you can do soemthing better like improved invisibility+move.
>>
>>43953759
>some puppet-business or a scapegoat to take the fall if the connection gets found out
Well, the major issue is that the mastermind (Bahor) knows the players are involved, specifically because they are still holding the silver dagger which is really a Raktavarna in disguise they took from Verik Vancaskerkin. So he knows they were directly responsible for tying up all the loose ends for hi, since they killed Gaedren, the Guards, and Devargo.

He as all the things he needs. Gaedren created the formula, it was shipped before the players killed him. The guards robbed stores for the alchemy reagents needed to produce the drug, the players killed them after they were shipped off. Devargo was supplying the Shiver, they killed him after establishing a safe dock for the drugs to be shipped to.

So having a fall business might make sense, but I don't know how to set that up in a way that makes it cool and heroic to take down.

>or have the players find that the events were connected, but not to whom
Marshal Kroft has the documents and records from Devargo, so she's going to sit down with the players and go through all the things they've done so far, which will help them put all the pieces together that the whole mess is connected, but won't reveal who the mastermind is. They have all the details already, they just don't know it until next session.

>the latter creates an unknown for the party to worry over on their own time
The most important detail is to NOT make this the thing they focus on. This isn't the overarching plot of the campaign, rather it's just a background story that sets up the minor villain the Arkonas for later in the campaign.
>>
Hey guys. I'm trying to build a huge BY RULES organization. I'm thinking a necromancy specialist, construct crafter, instructor wizard. Is there a way I can do better?
>>
>>43953313
Craft Rod isn't very good. You can't benefit from more than one metamagic on a rod. You can throw a free metamagic onto a normal type of rod no problem and I guess make a godrod by making it have five rod abilities, but rod crafting isn't very versatile.

Staves are similarly limited for crafting purposes. Can you even make a combination of two staves? It'd be nice to get one staff with high level req spells and another staff with low level spells and add charges cheaply using pearls of power to fill your high level ones with low level ones, but that's only if one of the staves are difficult to charge. Helpful in the hands of another caster with a limited casting pool, but very specific and limited like rods.

Rings are usually not considered a worthwhile craft feat but as a crafting specialist getting rings with shitloads of effects is worthwhile, provided you are okay with not making better shit during the time you are crafting ring improvements.

Brewing pots quickly falls out of usefulness and you can't do anything not on your spell list for potions, unlike item crafting where you simply improve the DC by 5.

You could delay or remove potions, rings, and rods to get craft construct much earlier, then make manuals for your friends to construct golems while you are crafting.

>>
>>43953589
Arguably, you don't need Dimensional Agility to full attack after casting Dimension Door as a Magus. The limitation on Dimension Door is that you can't take additional actions after casting the spell, but if you use Spell Combat with Dimension Door, you aren't taking additional actions to attack after you cast Dimension Door- you're finishing the full-round action you started, which is Spell Combat.

I think it's not unlikely that many DMs won't allow it, but by RAW I believe it's legal.

>the dockhouse or whoever was going to distribute it?
I hadn't really planned anything for that, which is kind of my issue.

Basically: In order to get close to Devargo and learn who was working with him (Bahor), they went undercover and did jobs for him. One of those jobs was to retrieve an amulet from a newly uncovered vault that would have implicated Bahor in the break-in and theft at the Acadamae years ago. The other was to remove the city guard from the docks in Midland District so Devargo could have a place for his drug shipments to be sent directly into the city (as per Bahor's plan). The players did both of these things.

I didn't write anything for where the drugs go once they get to the dock.

then get to thinkin! where would one send a drug to have the widest dispersal throughout the city?

poisoning the water supply is a little overused, but possible. perhpas they aim to lace EVERYTHING at an upcoming festival with the drugs, or are mixing it with some other thing that many people will make use of. you're aiming for complete saturation, or at least of the populace you intend to control (perhaps not the handful you actually value), and some means to continue distributing it until mass addiction is verified (you dont just do it once and then go "ha ha, you're all addicted to heroin now!", you gotta kep it stealthy-like until they cant oppose you even if it comes to light).

You have a world of options. You could take Iron Will if you're really concerned about your Will save, but you might be able to do better. You've maxed your Intimidate skill and you have Power Attack, so Cornugon Smash could be interesting (although even with full ranks I think you're coming up a little short on your bonus to Intimidate for you to consistently demoralize foes). I suppose you could pick up a third metamagic feat in hopes of running with Spell Perfection at 15th level, but I have no idea what spell you'd want that for. Planned Spontaneity seems plausibly useful for prepared 2/3s casters.

There are other options too, of course, but those are just a few ideas from the top of my head.

In that case why not simply harm Greta, rather than kill her? She's got Con for days, surely you could write up a sort of Punished Greta who has some sick facial scars and such lust for revenge.

Maybe even get her arm cleaved off, only for it to be replaced with a sleek Numerian prosthetic.

they're sued fro support only, or are constantly off doing secretarial work for the party--in town schmoozing on your behalf, getting business deals made, finding potential job offers for you, etc.

basically as the budding starts of your own bonafide mercenary company, rather than a ragtag group of wandering murderers.

hell, squires largely arent meant to serve a combat role--they were mostly there to keep shit organized and maintained for the knight, wand learn how to knight by their example.

PC for PC classes. NPC for NPC classes.
NPC class cohorts are still good without stealing the roles of the other players.

Incidentally, Any tier equal to or below fighter maybe considered should the party all rolled casters.

Lastly, make them as beneficial out-of-combat boons instead. Have your followers be unfit for combat but they can be laborers or craftsmen providing you a small gold bonus per month or week.
Maybe the farmer can provide you with a few of his horses. the apothecarist has a few spare health potions, the pastor has got some vials of holy water, etc.

This is how I do level distribution in a population:
>(population/(2^level))

Meaning 50% of the population will be level 1, 25% level 2, 12.5% level 3, and so on. Meaning you need approximately 1 million indivudals to produce a level 20.

From here 90% of the population only has NPC classes. This means you need ~10 million indivudals to produce a level 20 PC.

Basing my planet's population roughly on that of 1800s earth, we get a population of roughly 980 million. Meaning there are 98 level 20 PCs in the world.

Of course, there are also likely be hundreds of level 20 commoners, over a hundred warriors, and numerous level 20 aristocrats and adepts.

I am actually thinking of just making a random generator using this formula in conjunctions with a few others I use. Basically you input what "theme" your area is (rural, urban, magocracy, etc are tags you can give to add modifiers). The themes determine the PC and NPC class distribution. Then you input the population and it gives randomly generated NPCs at different levels.

Would anyone be interested in this? I can likely just throw together a webapp in like 24 hours.

That said, Why E.Flux? All I can think of is tossing in one Wrath Cascade in there?

But a Warlord could double-boost with Breach and an appropriately-elemented Aurora Break, for maximal shawinigans.

Though I guess it wouldn't get the action economy rapefest.

I know, right? It flies under the radar because it's so well balanced that there's nothing about it that stands out, and being a petmaster class means it's pretty niche, so nobody talks about how well balanced it is because they're looking at everything else.

I will say, though, that if you're looking at animal companions, you may want to look at >>43952405 which I still haven't received feedback on.

There are two good suggested options:
Alchemists can get you extra limbs to do some nasty things like poisoning weapons or inventory quickdrawing for alchemic items. If you're a grenadier, you can apply alchemic effects like stun spore and sicken sap to your weapon and even your bomb damage.

Hunter nets you a smart animal companion that shares your teamwork fears and that lets you do flanking bonuses. Another great thing about the Hunter's animal companion is that they learn Skirmisher tricks, like taking an AoO if you're attacked, or entangling or blinding an enemy on a hit for one round- no save. Best of all, they're the FASTEST class to get pounce via the Stick Together feat and the Ring of Ferocious action.
>>
>>43955688
>Magic level is unmentioned, but firearms are commonplace (advanced firearms are not, however.)

If that's the case, I might suggest playing something other than the Zweihander Sentinel.

If firearms are readily available that would mean the main appeal of the Zweihander, it's insane AC, isn't really there anymore.

Versus the Hunter, which does everything the ranger can, but with a companion that is with you from the start rather than four levels in for whatever reason (and is still weaker comparatively to a druid), has all the ranger's spells earlier on, drops the favored enemy/terrain crap, and utilized various buffs to turn into the best beastmaster in the game.

Okay, yeah, that fairly well quantifies what I like over the Ranger here.

>Central outwardly is a university, graduated cohorts acting as professors along with some hirelings

Is this terrible? I'm just not sure any more.

Alright, /pfg/, question about Aasimar and Tieflings - which types are most common in the various regions of Golarion?

I imagine Demon-spawn Tieflings are more common in Varisia (due to the long history of demonic influence) than, say, Oni-blooded or Devil-spawn. By the same token, Devil-spawn are probably more common in Cheliax.

Meanwhile on the Aasimar side, Angel-blooded are probably more common in Quadira, Archon-blooded in the Five Kings Mountains or Taldor, and Agathion-blooded in Andoran.

Thoughts?

Basic barbarian increases your move speed by +10 due to Fast Movement, increasing your movement speed to 40 feet for most creatures. When you slap on heavy armor, this speed is reduced to 30 feet.

Armored Hulk removes Fast Movement (reducing it to 20 feet in armor) but gives you an ability at 2nd level that adds a +5 to movement, increasing it to 25 feet. At level 4 (I think) you get an ability that removes heavy armor penalties to movement, causing your speed to increase to 35 feet.

You're discarding a lot of abilities for a +5 to movement at level 5, when you could be moving at 30 feet from level 1 with any other barbarian archetype.

>Kineticist as ship gunner
Literally, why?

Go Siege Mage Wizard.
You can control your siege weapons mentally. at 10th level, reload them with a single thought. You still get wizard spells.

Dip into some Grenadier Alchemist to augment, convert, modify the damage of siege weapons with bomb damage, poison gasses, etc.

If you're feeling extra competitive. Grab a tumor familiar to help you craft upgrades for your siege weapons, your ship using the ship building rules and EVEN BUILD CLOCKWORK SERVANTS to serve as ship crew to man your ship and load your siege weapons.

If you still feel extra competitive, ask your DM if he'll allow you to use the bottled elementals discovery to build your own flying airship using the shipbuilding rules. (You bottle the elemental into a blimp which you can control, again, telepathically)

But anon, this is terrible because Mengkare *chooses* your partners, meaning you're forced to breed or get bred by an apex specimen of Humanity just because Mengkare wants perfect human children.

I still love the theory that Mengkare is really doing this to create the ultimate harem, that mangy old Gold.

>woe is me, Mengkare has not chosen the hot blonde one with blue eyes and instead picked the hot red haired one with green eyes, and wants me to breed the hot Tian one with that nice dancer's ass next month too

This.
Don't think small.
Don't be "just" a siege gunner. Dream of being captain of your own ship, anon.

I fail to see the problem anon? I mean aside from the lack of man on man action, it seems like a great place? Is that your problem anon, do you want illegal gay dickings?
>>
>>43958241
Would Mengkare even mind occasional homosexual action, though? It's not going to influence the gene pool, for obvious reasons, so as long as you do your civic duty, what's the problem?
>>
>>43958007
You can always pick up Weapon Focus (Kinetic Blast) if you really need a feat. It's not great, but it will at least put your BAB up to full for the first few levels.

>>43958130
>>43958142
As much as I hate to agree with the advice of "just don't", these anons have a point. Normally, I'm entirely fine with players doing something suboptimal, so long as they're having a good time, but the Kineticist as is, without any help from your DM, is going to be a slog.

Wasn't this the go-to for most homosexual nobles back in Europe? Suck it up and stick it in the girl for an heir or three before going back to the boy butt? If it worked for the Hapsburgs it will work for Mengkare.

Hell, I doubt transsexuality is a problem for Mengkare either. If you're one of the handful of applicants I'm confident the dragon will wave his hands and use whatever spell is needed to change you to your desired sex.

>>
>>43958354

It's quite easily the best bow-based ranged combatant in Pathfinder, but be really fucking careful with those feats because ranged has always been starved for them, and the monk don't exactly get a lot of feats to spread around.

>Hell, I doubt transsexuality is a problem for Mengkare either. If you're one of the handful of applicants I'm confident the dragon will wave his hands and use whatever spell is needed to change you to your desired sex.
I doubt it. That would require changing your genetics, and risks making them imperfect.

>>43958354
It's shit. Less shit than the vanilla monk but it still gets fuckall to do out of combat and can do nothing but damage in combat.

Is Craft Construct any good?

I'm going to be involved in a Kingmaker game soon and am wondering if there is any mass producible 'Decently competent' constructs I could make a unit of soldiers from.

>Siege School. The strange rituals needed to empower all forms of siege engines takes a level of dedication and perseverance that limits a wizard’s time to unlock other arcane mysteries. At 1st level, the siege mage forsakes three schools of magic. Once chosen, these opposition schools cannot be changed.

What three schools can I safely ignore as a Siege Mage that won't bite me in the ass?
>>
>>43958380
Look into making golem Manuals rather than the golems themselves. If you do, you've squared things away quite nicely, and can craft the golems you wish for a fraction of the standard cost.
>>
>>43958393
You can ditch Evocation, Divination and Enchantment seeing as you won't really need em.

Wanted to give a quick update on this, the DM is allowing us one Template at the LA cost.

Is it worth getting bumped down to level 2 if it means getting the Advanced template? I'm losing a level yeah, but at the same time I'm gaining +2 natural armor and +4 to *every* ability score.

I suggest sucking up the lose of Fast Movement from wearing heavy armor until you can afford mithral heavy armor, which counts as medium armor and therefore doesn't remove your Fast Movement bonus.
>>
>>43958389

They do look pretty good.

>>43958520

Looks like a large chunk of extra HP.

I do like the ability to integrate weapons into constructs. That is really nice and will help with the 'Soldier' plan. Spears and Shields or Firearms or something.

Hey /pfg/!
I convinced my boyfriend to play Pathfinder, so i'm writing an oneshot adventure for him and his friends, also making some quick characters for them to play.

Now... he's always been edgy. When Overwatch preview came out, he almost creamed on Reaper. he's gonna roll a Demon Hunter as soon as allowed. He liked Axel from KH2. He listens to Nightcore. And he wants to be the sneaky assassin.
Since i do love him after all, what lvl 5 character should i make for him? Rogue would be pretty basic, but that would also be a torture. I was thinking about a Stygian Slayer, but i never played one so i don't know how they perform. Any other thing i missed? No 3pp, sorry,
