It's one of my favorite types of setting. I like it when space opera is mixed with high magic and some of the civilizations take the technology approach but then one day they meet space elves who still didn't discover smelting metal but happen to have a space empire because they can teleport from world to world with their magic. Then you can possibly add a third paradigm, like for example biological ships, and have those three freak each other out.

I've always wanted my own little part of space, I just wish the one I got wasn't a death trap. Don't get me wrong, I love the Phoenix Nebula, It's made me richer that I could've ever imagined, but my new neighbors are highly undesirable.
Since the nebula is on the edge of the galaxy (And also the most fortified, resource rich and technologically advanced areas of space for light years around.) we have to defend our resources against pirates, stop thieves from trying to steal our technology and regularly fight off assassins & bounty hunters attempting to eliminate me and my followers.
Sucks right? Well that's not the worst of it, this whole place acts like a lighthouse for the really nasty stuff hiding just outside our galaxy. Both Karkas and the Jiggers have been trying to take this place as their stronghold, If It weren't for the support of Princess Theia we'd probably all be dead right now.
I'm fairly certain that we can keep this place secure so long as we maintain our trade alliance with the princess and continue to build up our defenses but just to be safe I should definitely look into making make more friends.Someone else please post something.

Still, you can easily see that it is a gradient because above and below the color slowly goes from black to red. Under the text is the most obvious if you have bad eyesight.

There is a gradient it's just poorly done. The red at the top has a fair amount of black in it that brightens to the lighter red. The problem comes in that the edge of the red at the top wasn't blended in well.
They probably laid a red rectangle over the black background and added a bad gradient at the top or a transparency to try to blend it in.

Short term plan: figure out where I am, what I am, and what the hell is going on in the world.
Medium term: gather basic resources. This will be complicated by Behemoth coming after me, but that should be survivable. Use the ensuing battles to get an idea of what cape powers I can access. The Slaughterhouse 9 will likely become a problem soon after this (I doubt Jack is stupid enough for a frontal assault on someone who fought Behemoth directly). Subterfuge will be the name of the game.
Long term: Build up my resources, find a way to deal with Behemoth so I can get on with this (will he go after the same target twice for this?). Once Behemoth is dealt with, copy Bonesaw's power and briefly turn off my major brute power so I can age myself. Maybe start a harem by copying Heartbreaker's power.
This still leaves the issue of Scion, but as Jack Slash will likely not survive the coming months, there will be more time to try and figure something out.

Not sure what I want to do about the more direct role. Giving you powers for Paladin and Warlock works because you have to work for them, but superpowers are typically an all-or-nothing deal. I'll figure something out, but feedback always appreciated.

/s/, not /tg/. I'm going with a realistic theme. Feels more poignant to me. If you're using clearly imaginary characters, without even the illusion of it, it's easier to justify a wrong choice based on horniness as not being made seriously. Besides, the classical girlfriend choosers I've been inspired by used real images, so I'm keeping with the tradition. Example attached. Imagine something like that, but all of the girls look like models or pornstars or whatever (they're all dressed, though, I want this to be SFW). As I said, /tg/ as of late seems to be significantly less favoring of this kind of CYOA than it used to, but I've noticed many of those CYOAs (which feature girls with realistic personality flaws) also use girls who are more or less average looking. I want to experiment to see whether changing that aspect would have an effect, and ideally, whether people would defend their choices (or deride others') using the same arguments. For example, in pic related many people are constantly outraged that one of the girls depicted has cheated on a boyfriend before. Supposedly, that's an instant, absolute turn-off for them.
