Won't the coins themselves "fix" that? I feel as if they are just in it for "the cool shit" the White Coin would be a nightmare for them. Black Coin is already doing something akin to eating their immortal soul. (Or something like that.)

It's my personal belief that both the White and Black coins have the potential to render you mentally inert. That's the RP perspective.

Mechanically, assuming that your GM isn't hard-enforcing Black/White coin penalties (which you should NEVER assume holy shit don't do that), there's no reason to not take one or both coins according to Mechanics in Vacuum. Now, that's fine if you're just using freeform RP with the base PDF and a Black/White coin supplement. If that's what you're doing than fucking give the player the boot if they decide to be a jackass when you remind them that they have drawbacks.

However, if you want a game system designed with the CYOA chargen and fluff taken into account, Black and White coins need to have an appropriate weighty penalty in whatever system you use for that sort of thing.

Last I checked Holy in no sense of the word ever meant "evil", "bad", "jerk", or "ruin everything". That completely goes against its very nature. It is Holy, it isn't out to bring doom and destruction, infact it is supposed to be the opposite. (Unless you are the bad guy in the setting, and even then redemption is a thing.)

Find a Steel Meguca, have her make customized weapons for you, and then profit. Alternatively you could find some random Not-A-Goblin or something or the sort to make you something, but as previously stated it won't be "Customized to your meguca.". Except they can be, apparently. -and the only other bonus was that it can be reformed over and over again.

The weapon you get at CharGen also gives you proficiency with that weapon at the novice level. This doesn't usually mean anything, except that the perk Martial Training ALSO gives you good proficiency with a variety of weapons and martial styles. If you don't need the physical weapon but do want the ability to use a lot of different stuff, then pick up the Martial Training perk.

I personally wanted the No Roll to generally give you an average strength meguca if you spend all the points properly. I always felt rolling should be for people who want to or want to end up with some really powerful nonsensical magi who just so happens to be a 4 years who uses an Chocolate M16 with squeaker attachments or some random bullshit that falls in line with rolling dice.

It was this whole "balance" thing they had going on, the main problem is it wasn't that balanced. It was either too broken or too nerfed. -but even I'll admit 22 points would lead to some... Interesting customized Megucas. 16-18 sounds right in my head.

Personally I wanted more than 5 perks to work with all along. I liked the 7 we got if we wasted our money on the 3 extras in the last version. It certainly helped my MG who was basically 7s everywhere but VIT make better use of the below average abilities they had.

Melee and fists were given stat bonuses because they were underpowered otherwise. I don't think that's very fair if you make melee/fist cost more than ranged/mystic. Can't tell why the specs give different stat bonuses, but it seems like they should cost 1 more point.

Also make powers cost 2 each (except Killing Blow which costs 3), and perks 1 each.

Other than that, looks fine at the moment.

And just for an example, I'm going to make Olivia the familiar from when she was a magical girl.

She's...let's say 16 at this point. She's average build (+1 Ag), and has a skimpy outfit. (+1 Ag).

She has air powers that cost 4 points. Her weapons are her fists/"taloned" gauntlets (2 Str), which cost 2 points as fist-type weaponry. Her power is barrage, which costs 1 point as it doesn't give any stat boost.

She has martial training (+1 Str)(2 points), Enhanced Weapon (+1 Str)(2 points), Closure (+1 Luck)(1 point), and Patron (+1 Mag)(1 Point)...and let's say Natural Aging (1 Point)

Before spending any further stat boosts, her stats are Str 8 Ag 6 Vit 4 Mag 5 Luck 5.

She has 4 points left over of her 20. Since she's a dodgetank and eventually died by being hit by a car, I'll put all 4 of those into Ag.

Str 8 Ag 10 Vit 4 Mag 5 Luck 5.

To facilitate balance, there's been talk to nerf the amount of stats that coins give. In return, weapons, outfits etc will be boosted to give more points than before.

To add to this, I'm going to propose multiple rolls which you can select from, as well as to boost the effects of coins outside of giving stats. So here's the details:

Number of coins given for character creation stays the same.

For the purpose of character creation, 1 gold coin can be exchanged for 3 silver coins, and 1 silver coin can be exchanged for 3 bronze coins. (Tentative exchange rate) However, they cannot be exchanged the other way round (i.e. you cannot exchange 3 silver coins for 1 gold coin, or 3 bronze for 1 silver).

Gold coins will still give +4 stat boost, but silver coins will be nerfed to +1 each. Bronze coins can now be used in 2 ways: either 2 coins for +1 stat boost, or 1 coin to transfer 1 stat point from one stat to another. Base stats cannot go below 3.

Also, unless otherwise specified to reroll duplicate results, too bad. If you roll Average twice, you're stuck with Average unless you use a bronze coin.

Due to 2000 character limit, rolling mechanics will be in the next post.

I strongly disagree with the stat boost nerf idea. If anything, we should be lowering the bar for what lower stats are capable of, not hitting everyone with a nerf bat.

Think it has too many rolls and may have balance issues- but it does patch some of the issues with the current system.

The CYOA is a writing prompt (and meguca maneuverability) and in the various spinoff systems the weapons are actually (theoretically) about equal- with melee actually better than mystic and range in some ways now, last I checked.

I did the math a day or two ago to find the minimum and maximum stat totals in Sahara's system, just to see how different types of characters compare.

Note: Most Perks and all Powers grant stats in Sahara's system. Allies/Big Friends get no coins. Both Big Friendss and regular MonsterGirls get no stat bonus(es) from their specialization(s). Most Monperks do not grant a stat bonus.
I believe the maximum stat totals should be within a few points of the base CYoA.

Magical Girl:

A subsection of The Conspiracy wants to put the local-Kyubey figure out of business by hijacking the magical girl business and dominating it. The idea is to take the ideas that Magical Girls represents (hope, love, friendship , altruism etc) and make them their own, cutting into !notKyubey's share of the magical girl business.

The subsection is now asking on how to create Magical Girls with their current technology.

The department in charge of this whole idea have access to:

* DXHR-level mechanical augmentations including infolinks and cybernetics
* Digimon-level artificial intelligence for the stereotypical magical girl mascot/familiars
* Jet packs for flying
* Plasma weapons
* A coherent ideology to motivate said ersatz Magical Girls
* Powerful nootropics and growth/strength hormones.
* Mass cloning
* Real-time memory (NOT mind uploading) uploading.

What they don't have is transforming clothes, but they're considering researching that.

Obviously the False Magi and the True Magi will butt heads, although it won't always be violent. Not-QB will probably think it is "cute" the Humans are trying to replicate its MGs for their own purposes, and probably end up underestimating them and screwing up like Not-QB's kind are known to do.

[Spoiler]Have a third group/faction who is sick of the other two's shit. (In an Older Brother coming back to the younger two beating each other up over something stupid and having to clean up their mess sense.) Most likely Nature, the actual universe, or something like that. Things will get hectic, but it certainly makes things more interesting.[/spoiler]
I personally don't like either sides in your setting, as they are both pretty damn bad. Just two different kinds of pretty damn bad. I'd signing up for Team Sol System, Team Mother Earth, or Team Preserver/Protector God if I was a part of this setting.

Yeah. You break things. I just did some physics on the back of the proverbial envelope and I figure the energy your magic has to provide - to get a 30kg girl around the Earth in six seconds without shooting off into space at a tangent - is equivalent to two million megatons of TNT. That's about a hundredth of the energy of the impact at the end of the Cretaceous. Hopefully you won't make a habit of doing this. Causing mass extinctions is the sort of thing they do in depressing and violent giant robot shows, wrong genre entirely.

If you really need to be somewhere else so fast, is instant teleportation out of fashion? Some means of getting about that isn't conventional Newtonian movement. That way you don't leave a trail of burned-out ruin behind you.

Otherwise - I'll have to reread the PDF. Is there a school of magic that manipulates gravity or inertia? That might allow this force to be applied more tidily, and give a more interesting theme than just yet another speedster...

Funny you mention Giant Robot Shows, That image is referring to Power Armor CYOA, A Cyoa about mech robots. So a Mass Extinction isn't nearly as problematic.
A gravity MG could probably make it safe if I combined the two CYOAs.

Missed that context, my bad. Only makes it worse, of course; the energy budget for moving a small, light magical girl around is much less than that for a big power suit or mecha. And physics tends to hit harder here; a magical girl could appeal to magic to provide the power, but it's not as if a power suit's onboard reactor is going to supply that kind of juice. You'd need one of those giant robots that's actually a clone of a monstrous elder deity or something. And those bring about the end of the world if you do so much as look at them funny.

Updated with a clarification to Silver coin usage (now has a limit of 1), and the Purification section has been expanded.

Dark Sider's text has been compacted but remains essentially the same ability.

Immortality has now had a clarification added based on community input.

Some abilities have been updated with the appropriate defense rolls now that Sahara's system is finished.

She'd asked for this. Her memories might be a little fuzzy, and she can't quite remember what her name used to be, but she's sure of that much.

And why wouldn't she? Her life had been quiet enough, but it wasn't like she had been anyone of importance. She'd done small things here and there, but she didn't really matter in the larger scheme of things, and she more or less accepted that.

In hindsight, she probably should have been more suspicious when it'd mentioned that. But she hadn't.

Of course, the thing hadn't gone into much detail at the time about just what it'd involve. The magical girl part, for starters, or that she wasn't going to be herself anymore by doing it. Or just how strange the monsters really were...and never mind the rest of the secret world.

Still, there were worse fates than being a hero, even if she felt like an idiot for not asking more questions. This way, she could make a difference, and fight real monsters in a way she'd never have otherwise. She was Flaming Ace Paladin Amelia, and she was going to do the best job she could. She wasn't going to let anyone or anything stop her from doing what was right.

Update on progress for those who are wondering - I've had a rough couple of weeks IRL, but the new version of the base AMGCYOA is pretty much complete. Thing is, the Corruption module isn't and since monster girls were in the base CYOA up until this point, I do want to put them both out at the same time. If I get a good chunk of free time this week/weekend I should be done by next week.

Unlikely - The Perks in >>43883945 are designed to mesh with Sahara and Jayne's systems. I'm trying to keep the CYOA itself system neutral for the moment. That said, I will likely include some material from that - additional Motivations and maybe duplicate the Weakness chart. I was planning to have drawbacks that could be chosen.

Honestly, at this point, 'corruption module' is something of a misnomer, as part of the module is what Patron'd girls can gain, and a randomized way of determining Patron, and whether or not they are malevolent - it's not strictly for monster girls.

Since she's still a good girl and all she does is out of vendetta for the Puchuu, the good end is if the party manages to find out her reasons and befriend her, try to talk her down and not just go murderhobo on her. She'll be a bit recurring (at least through her servants) so they'll have a few chances to find clues and such.
Otherwise, at 0 HP she uses her outfit enhancement to heal, and enters her aforementioned final form, which will be a sad end for all parties involved (almost all of them, that is).

This is clearly the final boss of a game's would be movie. This is ironic because my manguca is already an unofficial imperial. By then I would think he would have had any Steel Megucas already work on a Space Fleet manned by Light Ghosts and Advanced AIs. -because that is badass.

We use Rail Gun Platforms. A lot of them. Maybe a few Fusion Warheads. Try to land on the surface with some of the heavier landers, Light Ghosts, and Megucas. Try literally everything in the book. Call litterally Space Jesus or Cosmic God to help if someone has a Patron who isn't a little shit.

This shit is happening for the "movie", we are allowed to go "Full Force" and in ridiculous numbers. Our non-existant budget is bigger, and we are all leveled from the "series".

Have Water and Steel Megucas seriously screw with its armor for an easier win.
