Why aren't you playing an aasimar/tiefling kitsune with full plate and a greatsword?

Do you want to play a Path of War initiator (full or partial)?
Do you prefer text-only games?
Are you highly tolerant of weeaboo token art?
Do you believe that dedicated roleplaying and heavy optimization are NOT mutually exclusive?
Are you interested in a game set in the bazaar of the bizarre, Katapesh?

If so, then this might be the game for you:
http://pastebin.com/dyRApYW3

There is a catch. This will be a small group with only two players and one GM. One player slot has already been reserved. They are a dedicated roleplayer, but also very meticulous with the rules. You will have to be patient with them. There is only one player slot left.

Thrashing Dragon as a whole discipline will get entirely and utterly worthless if Battle Dragon Stance is nerfed. That stance was the sole saving grace of the discipline, which is almost pure garbage otherwise. Moreover, even the current iteration of Battle Dragon Stance is objectively inferior to Elemental Nimbus, making the sole thought of nerfing it preposterous.
I mean, 2d4 non-stacking easy-to-heal bleed as a 8th level stance? REALLY?

We are not certain other companies that will remain nameless. Thrashing Dragon is being approached holistically, with an eye to getting it to fulfill its own niche. Battle Dragon Stance is is too strong as-is, but the other half of the problem is much of the rest of the discipline is awkward, weak, and/or doesn't actually deliver what was promised.

No matter how you look at it, Elemental Nimbus is essentially a direct upgrade to it (with the only drawback being elemental damage). How is that okay while Battle Dragon isn't okay?
Elemental Flux has the highest damage potential of all PoW disciplines as well as having nice counters and good utility. It has it all and is far too good.

Allowing shitty writers like Sslarn to ruin projects, making bad content because of personal greivances (CHAbringer, never doing antipaladins, Solar Wind, Tempest Gale, wanting to errata actually fun classes like ZweiSent), the turd that is Akashic Mysteries, making basically non-functional abilities like the Host of Heroes Rite of Passage, the entirety of Piercing Thunder being bad, letting multiple cool projects die in the dirt...

Oh, then there's shoving out errata/'fixing' things on the level of Paizo where no fixes were really needed at all, the generally shitty attitude that some of the DSP devs express towards people, and just a lot of shit you all have been doing lately.

You guys really need to stop knee-jerk nerfing shit for no real reason just because 1-2 people meme hard about it.

Gareth!
Just the man I wanted to badger about inconsequential rules nonsense!
I've read up on PoW systems and use in regards to multiclassing and initiation and the gist of it makes total sense. The Stalker 7/Warlord 5 example being a "9th" level Stalker and an "8th" level Warlord clicks just fine in my brain.
However, what happens if we have a Stalker 2/Warlord 1?
Is the Stalker "3rd" because half of 1 level is still 1, or would half of 1 level just become nothing and the Stalker's initiator level would be 2nd?

That doesn't answer my question. As far as I'm aware, we've released no part of this errata unless you'd like to count Fool's Errand.

>>48274137
Let us presume for a moment that this is true, and I say 'presume' because I have twenty minutes to get ready for work and I'm not about to spend them crunching the numbers between the two stances: that doesn't make either of them acceptable, it'd just mean that Nimbus had mistakes made.

I'll reiterate, again, that unlike /some companies/, /which shall remain nameless/, our intent is to release the proposed errata for testing and feedback before it's finalized and the PDFs updated. That'll give you, the community, time to evaluate it, check it for further mistakes of grammar/math/concepts/insanity, and see edits happen to it before it ends up potentially affecting your lives. That also means that there'll be warning at every stage of this process for the folks that wish to preserve the pre-errata content.

C'mon guys, we've got more respect for you than that. Where's the paranoia coming from?

If we were to make a "perfection" of Pathfinder, what would you do?

I would:

> remove all favored class mechanics, those should have died a long time ago
> remove class skills but keep disable device and open lock as rogue-only skills
> keep skill ranks but make starting skill points equal your intelligence SCORE because that would force uneven skill buys instead of just making out in each one
> make feats a once-per-four levels thing, and remove redundant feats, make them have multiple functions
> have major and minor feats where you can pick two minor feats instead of one major
> remove 90% of bonus feats
> massively reduce class features list
> reduce complexity in as many ways as possible and aim for emergent complexity instead
> steal the HD-type-by-size idea from 5e, one of its few decent ideas
> balance out builds, allow for more types of viable martials
> restructure level-based bonuses to a single scale, kind of like proficency or 1/2 level to AC, except less fucking gay

I have no idea how I would reconcile this shit, and my last point directly fucks with my third point, which itself makes no sense in the context of Pathfinder's skill system which is different from 3.5's anyway.

But that's my "wish list". Basically less feat taxes, lower numbers to bring things more into line, just the "low power" feel of 5e but you can still get high power later.

I don't even like 5e but I like some of the ideas in it. I feel like 5e mated with 3.5 would make the best D&D, but it will never happen now.

What would you fags change abotu Pathfinder?

Arcforge, Tzocatl, Akashic Mysteries, talks in this thread about ZweiSent nerfs way back, Forrest apparently claiming that Scarlet Throne will recieve nerfs, DSP having a pretty clear hatred for anything ranged with how Solar Wind/Tempest Gale work (With the exception of Elemental Flux, which works with both ranged/melee), shit like the Ravelord Harbringer being nerfed because Gareth was angry, Chabringer never existing because Gareth has a stick up his ass, Forrest repeatedly handling feedback poorly in the thread and people ending up getting into fights about it, the repeated ignoring of Steelforge suggestions for things.

>Thunder wasn't the discipline some folks wanted it to be, but that doesn't make it bad. It does its job just fine.
My only real problem with Piercing Thunder is all of the early-game stances are stances where you either use that as your only stance ever, or you take feats that negate the need to ever use those stances.

I can either stay in a stance at all times to use my two-handed weapon in one hand and a shield in another, thus locking me out of other, more interesting stances... or I can take a feat that lets me use a two-handed weapon in one hand and a shield in the other, thus negating the need for the stance.

I can either stay in a stance at all times to allow me to wear my heavy armor without all the penalties, thus locking me out of other, more interesting stances... or I can take classes that allow me to wear my heavy armor without all the penalties (or just wear lighter armor), thus negating the need for the stance.

I can either stay in a stance at all times to allow me to dual-wield bigass weapons, thus locking me out of other, more interesting stances... and I don't even think I can use anything else to do that, actually, so I'm stuck with this one stance if I want to dual-wield greatswords.

It's not until the level 5 stance that I get something that's universally useful, and not something that I'll have to build most of my character around. The maneuvers are awesome, I love the "attack in a line equal to your reach +X feet" maneuvers especially... but the stances at early levels leave a lot to be desired.

I'm also mildly annoyed that there aren't enough throw-your-weapon maneuvers to justify me wasting a feat to be able to get my weapon back after throwing it, but that's just because I'm usually in games where I can't get a returning or calling weapon thanks to low-magic settings.

I guess it wouldn't be able to fix Piercing Thunder, but if the only issues with Broken Blade come up when people use it with things other than unarmed strikes, then the errata for it could be as simple as adding a single note to the discipline stating that it can only be used with unarmed strikes or certain other specifically listed weapons, even if a feat or feature would normally allow otherwise.

That'd be a clean fix, right?

People dragging in bullshit that was not official and not even a minor piece of the story means we now directly have *that much less* opportunity to direct feedback to DSP and to receive information from DSP about what they're working on, because some shitbirds couldn't stop running their mouths and making spurious claims based on their personal hurt feelings.
>>
>>48274550
You see, I actually view that as how a lot of first level stances should work: alleviation of feat taxes. I love things like Snapping Turtle Stance for delaying when you need Improved Shield Bash, or Scarlet Einhander giving you some space before you need Deadly Agility.

Oh, and for the dual greatswords, Prodigious TWF and Stupendous Strength (Monster Classes: Ogre, IIRC)
>>
>>48274396
>You're literally retarded if you think less feats is a good thing.

Not less feats, just less shitty ones. We don't need a whole chain of feats for basic two weapon fighting. I am so sick of writing Two Weapon Fighting, Improved Two Weapon Fighting, etc. on my sheet, to the point where I usually just write the highest level version, but that throws off my feat count.

Also getting those feats are fucking boring because it's not anything new, just an upgrade on what I had before.

I'd prefer a character with fewer feats, but those feats do more things. So you might only have three feats but those feats define entire spheres of your characters capabilities.

> Basic Pathfinder is legitimately fairly simple.

Not really. The core is, but the minutiae of shittons of tiny rules is what starts to rip it apart.

Like favored class. That was a rule that had no solid effect in 3.5 so we just ignored it. And I liked that, because any link between race and class is retarded, I hate these race/class linkup synergies. That's what the ability score modifiers are for. Orcs aren't good wizards because of their low Int, not because it's not their favored class.

To be fair, I haven't done a lot with the favored class mechanics, but the little bit that I've used them it just feels like they took a rule that no one really used from 3.5 and gave me another thing to remember when leveling up.

>>
>>48274470
The problem is when you get other sources of added damage. Sneak Attack, for example, isn't normally doubled on a critical hit... but now the maneuver reads "Deal critical hit damage, +5d6 damage." If you're an Investigator, its +4d6+10, and so on. At the base level, it's not too powerful, but the ability to double damage that wouldn't normally be doubled on a crit makes it far too open to abuse.

Now, I don't want it to just go to Sense Motive to attack and nothing else, either... but I can definitely see the reason behind removing the flat damage multiplier.
>>
>>48274649
>Get a fucking grip and handle this like fucking sensible adults.

The problem here is that Forrest was in that irc channel most of the time NOT acting as a representative of DSP, and when comments that were noted to be not official stances get repeated as official, it causes a bunch of shit for them to deal with.

Knowing that us in the irc chat can't be trusted to keep unofficial separate from official, it makes sense to leave.

Except that using them to negate the feat taxes means we're stuck using only those stances for our entire career, which prevents us from using the more interesting stances. If I want to build a character around dual-wielding greatswords, and I try to use the dual-wielding greatswords stance to do that, then I don't get to use any of the more interesting stances that come at later levels because I have to stay in the dual-wielding greatswords stance in order to keep dual-wielding my greatswords. I'll never be able to, for example, dual-wield my greatswords with +5 reach, +4 dodge and op-attack prevention prevention.

1. Someone in IRC asks what to do for their character who gets all the "problem" disciplines like Broken Blade, Primal Fury, Scarlet Throne, etc.
2. Forrest says Rising Zenith Strike is PROBABLY going down to no more double damage.
3. Someone makes recruitment post in >>48272813 >>48273213, one of the house rules is that "problem" disciplines get automatically traded out.

Shit like this makes 4chan less desirable as a source of feedback. It directly fucks up our reputation with the people who produce content for this game. Nah they're just really bad at figuring out ranged, and are thus too quick to listen when someone tells them "this should only apply to melee" or to simply craft a discipline with the assumption that ranged combat is vastly different.

I don't think they hate it at all, from talking to them. They're just a bit too used to doing melee characters with ranged things being taken care of by casters is all.

There's ways to make them quite useful.
>>
>>48274809
Nope. It has a line attack, sure. But not only do I not want elemental damage on my grizzled old veteran spearman, I like making attack rolls, not letting other people make Reflex saves. Try again.

I had some questions about the "confused" status. In my session yesterday I was able to make two enemy NPCs confused using the Confusion spell.
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/c/confusion
I wasn't sure what "act normally" meant, since at one point one of the NPCs rolled in the 76-99 range and attacked the other enemy NPC. From what I read of being confused, that means the attacked NPC should reciprocate the attack until one of them dies. But does that only occur if the attacked, confused NPC rolls a "act normally", or in addition to whatever they roll for the confused status?

>>
>>48274856

Piercing Thunder and Primal Fury go together like peas and carrots.

Cornered Frenzy Strike + 5th tier PT stance means everyone dies in a 30 foot radius.

Plus, and let's be honest here, Impaling Strike with a spear is just plain fun.
>>
>>48274900
You know you should, Anon. Justice needs to happen.
>>
>>48274866
If one of the confused creatures attacked the other, then the other would automatically attack the first creature on its turn, you wouldn't roll on the confusion table at all. And yeah, that means they'd both get stuck in a feedback loop of hitting each other, getting pissed that the other one hit them, and hitting each other again. Which is awesome.

Just so you know, "act normally" literally means they can choose their own actions normally, as if they weren't confused (for that round). But that only happens when you roll it on the table... but again, you don't roll on the table if the confused creature was attacked, they just automatically attack back.
>>
>>48274916
That'd just make everything worse.

>>

Well more like a third; even the 'melee or ranged' disciplines tend to have several maneuvers that are melee only.

Riven Hourglass' swift-strikes are melee, Sleeping Goddess teleport attack maneuvers are melee.

That said, I'm only pointing these out for the sake of accuracy; All my Riven Hourglass characters so far have been ranged. Everyone gets 2-3 disciplines to work with at least, and while I can't just make a character with ONLY RH, having a powerful character isn't a problem.

>/pfg/ is better than it used to be and the current batch of posters has a far greater understanding of the game than the people who posted in early /pfg/ or even the Pathfinder threads before that, regardless of how butthurt people get about it. Even fucking BUILDPOSTER is better than some of the Paizo-fellating scum that used to be around.

But how did /pfg/ evolve to be so animu, weeaboo, and fox-masturbating?

Only if you're doing enough damage to cut through the walls. Walls DO have a shit-ton of HP.
>>
>>48275612
While we're revolting, can we demand better mods? It's just Qanon, some random fuck, and a bot that seems broken.
>>
>>48275023
Then it HAS to be at least one of them, doesn't it?
>>
>>48275655
Not really.
>>
>>48275637
Are you implying that that's not better than the retard who bitched about people who wanted a ToB port because they're 'overpowered' and jacked off about Fighters with javelins being the best class in the game?

Because that's the level of discourse we used to get.

Pretty bew to DSP content here, so sorry if this is something obvious
So in a game I'm in, werewolf template from lords of the wild may or may not be allowed. Are there any other ways to take a monstrous/animal form that could be used with Chimera Soul?
That roar maneuver made me really want to play something like that

Was it 2hu?
>>
>>48275318
Tumblr please go trans is not a real gender.
>>
>>48275729
Almost definitely, yes.
>>
>>48275742
Eh. 2hu contributed but several other people posted complaints about things that were *maybe* happening in the errata as if they were gospel truth and without context.

I know it wasn't 2hu who made the Battle Dragon Stance complaint, for example. 2hu doesn't even think Battle Dragon Stance is particularly good.

Trans is not a gender, no. Trans is the word for when your gender and sex do not match up, but it is not, in itself, a gender. Neither is mayonnaise.
>>
>>48275728
You heard me. "They do overpowered damage in melee and at range!"

This was not an exceptionally shitty poster in a sea of normalcy. Pathfinder threads used to attract PFS tards who didn't know the first thing about the game who'd do shit like bitch about Barbarians while pretending that Wizards were totally fine.
>>
>>48275269
According to this guy >>48274800, the one who originally asked and the one who posted "Forrest said this in IRC" are the same.
>>
>>48275791
Yep. You know the refuses-to-die "Synthesist Summoner is the most OP class in the game!" meme? Where do you think it started?
>>
>>48275534
I'm only maybe the first. And even then, that's just what other people online tell me. Well, they're probably right for once but hey.

puppies aren't hot, little children aren't hot, other men aren't hot, and I can't even wrap my head around someone hating their own body so much that they want to go trans without some kind of alien death parasites being involved, so I can only try to imagine how rough it is on them, but holy fuck would I never come close to doing that.

so uh, yeah. probably just the tisms here.
>>
>>48275791
Wow
I don't even have a reaction image for that one
>>
>>48275589
True (different anon, but I also have contributed nothing to this world) but my daughter is also 'trying', and that does not make her breakfast attempt anything other than a salmonella hazard.
>>
>>48275844
Get back to me when your daughter has a PhD in breakfast.

No, really, do. I will be legitimately impressed.
>>
>>48275766
True, several people complained about shit, most of them easily identifiable, including the Battle Dragon one you mentioned.
But only one posted about Forrest confirming anything or even mentioned Forrest or IRC, as far as I understand.
