Ive kinda been getting into draftkings lately, and like the format better than most other sports betting services. For hockey anyways, does it really help to pick players from a purely statistical standpoint? Ive been having lots of success picking guys based on which line they're on/facing up against, whether they play the powerplay and are playing a team that takes lots of penalties, whether they traveled the night before, etc, but I've been reading so many people who speak about statistical performance like its the end-all-be-all ("hurr durr his corsi is .2% higher he's the obvious better pick"), but I've been getting shitwrecked every time I pick the statistical "best" options.
Should I just keep doing what I'm doing, or is picking by stats not working out for me just variance? Ive had way more "luck" with picking players based on a broader picture rather than zeroing in on specific stats for specific players. my sample is admittedly tiny though

Yeah you're right James mentioned them in a 2011 post. In the article though they said they made all the money in the last 18 months so doesn't add up, again could just be the journalist embellishing the story to make it sound more dramatic.
