Considering generalizations, they are still useful in everyday situations like buying/selling, dealing with people in lets say worse enviroments like shitty bars or bad parts of town or other situations, where you can end up cheated/beaten...
In politics and security i dislike modern doctrine, when they fight against "discrimination" and against some groups/parts being more watched, although statistics prove they are more dangerous or modern refugee politics, where not all moslims is argument for letting all in.
And in my opinion belief in exceptionalism of modern society is one of biggest bullshit around. Sure, there are some differences, but the same belief was in every era of human history and there were and are still many similarities. Only difference is, that modern man is more sheltered and used to confort which make him more docile and passive, but take that away and we are just barbarians like before.
