First off, I am not laughing or thinking this was funny in any way. I'm sickened by what happened yesterday and will carry the hurt for the rest of my life.
The short of it is we had my girlfriend's family over for a late Thanksgiving dinner. Her and her mom cleaned up afterward while her dad and I watched tv and then they left. My girlfriend went with them as I was going work later and they were going shopping in the big city about an hour from here.
I slept for a while and woke up about an three hours before going to work. I decided to make the pumpkin pies they left out and then take a shower.
The oven was left open a crack. I thought someone left it open to cool, so I slammed it shut and turned on the heat to 425 degrees to pre-heat and went to take my shower.
I can't write the rest. It hurts to even think about it.
My girlfriend moved out this morning.

Laminate floor needs replacing, skirting/door frame/door needs replacing, ceiling needs fixing, walls and ceiling also need skimming. New window since mine may as well not be there with the amount of wind and water it lets in. New furniture, new clothes, new vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner, new phone and PC. Lots of money. ;_;

Tradesmen aren't cheap, pham. Once you add the cost of supplies and installation just the bedroom stuff itself costs around 3k. Replacing a ceiling is very expensive. Give another grand for furniture, 500 for other little things like a nice rug, some wall art, and lighting, 500 for clothes, 1k for a cheap PC and a decent phone, and we're already at the 5k mark.

But anon, as much as you want to hate on me, you can't deny that the majority of people on /r9k/ of all places would completely fuck any DIY job up. Most of us have no skills whatsoever. Sure, I can do the painting and assemble a bed by myself, but actual DIY work like that? Fuck no.
Desk, bed, drawers, and a wardrobe. Don't forget a new mattress, bedclothes, and a bedside cabinet.
Literally everything I own is shit. I grew up with frugal parents. Hand-me-down everything. School uniforms that didn't fit properly, second-hand beds that had weird shit the previous owners had carved into the sides for some strange reason. My clothes are all tattered, everything is off-brand and cheap. For once in my life I want to have something nice. I see all these cool battlestations on /g/ and I want that. I just want a nice bedroom with nice things in that. I want a nice pair of jeans that actually fit me and won't fall apart after a few months. I want a floor that isn't covered in chips and cracks that doesn't squeak when I walk on it and a radiator that actually functions correctly. Is that so much to ask?
