I like cooperative games the best. TF2 I played for a long time, half because I was good at it and half because cute girls would play it with me. I've dated two of the women I met playing it, now. Florida has been lucky for me. I play RPGs and MMOs mostly, now, because RPGs let me approach things on my own terms and have emergent experiences, and most have a co-op mode that I can enjoy with others. I've enjoyed Telltale's catalog, usually, because story is the most important element to a game for me. The addictiveness of the gameplay is actually pretty low on my list of priorities.
Everything is better with other people involved. My hobby of gaming is part of that feeling for me. I've had solo gaming benders that lasted over multiple days, but even those were because I was super hyped up about it and talking to others about the experience at the same time. I haven't been immersed and joyful about solo gaming since I was an elementary age tyke and hopping to make Yoshi go higher.

For starters it was the first FF for Playstation so it was ages ahead when it came to the previous games both in graphics and sound, not to mention that this new console gave games a length never before seen, since you had 4 discs packed with action! And it might not sound like much now, but back then all this was as exciting as virtual reality might be in a few years.
And that's just the technical stuff, the characters were appealing and well constructed since you had all this extra capacities, the story was interesting and novel, the game play was easy enough that kids could play but not boring for older people... it was just a mix of a lot of different elements. Add the nostalgia factor and the fact that it's one of the biggest franchises out there and you get both a movie (which was pretty awesome) and a remake that will rekindle the interests for the game and create a new generation of fans.

13 looks like it has okay waifus, but the gameplay just turns me off. That's not what I got into FF games for, and its certainly not what I wanted from them. Same reason I didnt like 12 that much.
For me though, the best turn based JRPG is Skies of Arcadia, though.

I know that they are single player experiences but I would recommend them if your girlfriend has zero to none experience in gaming (she might find the story interesting) and let her try and play if she wants and, later, show her differentes genres and nicher games. Hard skip. If you're into the genre then it's a theme park version of what you want: shallow, meaningless, trite. If you're not into the genre then it's still too slow and the story too flimsy to hold attention.
If you're super into gritty old-school tactical RPGs, I'd recommend the Geneforge series and Avernum. If you're into a remake kind of feel and modern, polished games, grab Divinity: Original Sin. God, is that game good.
