I tried reading some Skins fan fiction the other day, which was the first I'd tried to read since I was a tween, and it was so fucking bad.

I'll confess I wrote a bit of fanfiction back in the day when I was still going through shit and wanted a way to vent my desires. I always aimed for it just kind of being a background thing. Like my stories were always about a girl or woman doing a thing and her just being a lesbian, because that's what I wanted to be like. I knew I liked girls but I didn't want to be a "lesbian", I wanted to be an astronaut or a soldier or something, who just so happened to kiss girls sometimes. I think it helped me a lot during puberty and I think it helps me now.
I still write but I've moved onto original works. As for reading... don't know. I find LGBT-centric work tends to be a bit boring. Again, I just like the lesbianism to be incidental or a background fact. I would much rather have a "is she/isn't" she situation than a straight up "she's gay and you have to deal with it" kind of thing.
If the only defining fact of a character is that she likes to fuck girls then she's a boring fucking character.
Currently I'm working on an original story about a girl falling in love with her teacher (which I realise is clichéd as all fuck) that I want to publish online. I also write les and het shit for /d/'s (formally /tg/'s) weekend smut threads in case anyone here lurks those threads.
As for stories that I've read, there were a few from FF.net that I enjoyed but can't find anymore. I think they were called Summer Days and Winter Nights and I really enjoyed them. I've been reading a lot of Life is Strange and misc yuri fanfictions lately. Sometimes I end up reading fics that my friends write. Literally what am I living for?
I like reading F/F novels, but only when the main characters just happen to be lesbians and it is just an aspect of their lives (because I do not think that being a lesbian is what makes me be me - sounds redundant). I do not really enjoy novels focused on the romance part: I need mystery, action, suspense… in said novels, otherwise I can not bring myself to finish them.
As to fan fiction, one of my favourites fic (in general) is from Skyrim and has F/F romance, called Brotherhood. Even if you are not into this game, the fic is still highly recommendable.
And I have never written a fic and I will never do. I cannot stand reading my own works, especially when the task is somewhat creative. I should change this habit but, after a long time, I think I should give up.

I read a series of untitled superhero stories a while back about super human people some of which are descendants of gods and some are mutants sorta, it's an alien thing, while super are military experiments.
Anyway the main character is a descendant of poseidon and a cute gay girl with a cute girlfriend but her gf gets abducted and brutally murdered by this Russia super solider. I literally cried it was horrifying.
The Russia kinda turns good (there is implied mind control stuff idk) after a while and the main character doesn't know she killed her gf or even that she has actually been murdered just that she is missing. Eventually a relationship between her and the Russia developed and like 2 issues(?) they are together as a couple until she finds out the truth and drowns her in the ocean which is actually very sad as well.
