And rifle shooting lane is just that, a lane. It's not very wide but I can stretch to 318 yards safely in one clear shot. The field has lots of room for steel challenge and some 3 gun, and some clay shooting at the drop off on the neighbor's edge. Don't be worried about your accuracy, be worried about your gas tube and gas key. If the block is canted the gas tube is probably slightly off in the receiver, which will increase friction and potentially decrease reliability of the action.

I somewhat regret building my 5.56 middy. When I first got into guns, I was interested in 6.5G, but the uppers and ammo was expensive, and I was inexperienced, so I built a KISS 16 and called it a year or two. Now I've got it listed for sale to fund my 20" 6.5G combat rifle.
Also, I hate Magpuls handguards, but they're the lightest modular platform, so I still go with them.

thats a pretty decent start, make sure you learn how to use a TQ properly. minimum of two inches above wound and tighten until bleeding is controlled/distal pulse no longer palpable. 2 hours is typically the maximum time a TQ should be left on, ideally. If you cant control bleeding with one TQ, add another above it.

I always advocate to carry as many bulky bandages as possible which is why I carry 3 compression bandages and 4 ABD pads. Thats just whats on my PC, more go into my bug out bag.
Don't use airway tools or chest darts unless you've been trained to use them, not a terrible idea to have them for someone else to use tho.

the nice occlusive dressings self adhere, in a pinch you can use a plastic bandage wrapper and tape it on three sides, but those are kinda shitty. dont plan to improvise, but know how to just in case.
ideally you decompress then add a chest seal, thats fastest. for people who dont know how to do more invasive stuff, just use a chest seal. that said, educate yourself on them, they can be fucked up and fix nothing.

Get an Aimpoint and be done with it ffs. Go Comp M4s if you want wide field of view and T2 if you don't care having it a bit smaller, a bit more tunnel vision. For a scope, get a Viper PST and a mount from LaRue or ADM and then put the rest of the $$ in ammo.
What ammo would you suggest stacking for a 16" 1/8" 5.56 barrel? Also, are heavy grain bullets mostly designed for long range shooting? Applicable to carbines?

M193 55gr because you can get it already loaded on stripper clips and it shoots decently for the price. You can find it in cans on clips with keys for 190 bucks for 420 rounds.
While some here will snub their noses at it, M855 62gr too. My rifle really likes it.
