I'm using a TreeMap data structure for the first time, and I'm trying to write a program that finds the most popular/occurring integer entered. I can display the integers entered as keys and the occurrence of each as the values.

I don't know how to translate this information into something where I can state/display which integer, or integers, occurred the most. Can some one explain the logic that goes with this? I can't really think of an algorithm to display the most occurring elements. in the map, or any other data structure for that matter really.

i just bought this computer, msi gaming rig, and i want to put windows 8 or even a linux on it but i dont know how to get passed it not wanting to boot with a live dvd, i havent tried a usb yet cause id still need to download an iso for either linux or windows 8.

i want to know how to make the mother board actually boot from usb/dvd instead of just booting into the os right away, ive changed the boot order in the bios to go to the dvd but it never works, it just goes into the os right away.

why does msi shit have to be so complicated

My back USB ports work regardless, but my front ones + SD slot only work before my OS is booted.

In BIOS, the USB ports are all enabled, and even physically glow (they have built-in lights).

When I'm actually in Windows, though, they aren't readable, don't glow, and the H:/ G:/ etc drives corresponding to the FRONT ports are not even visible - all pretty clear signs something's wrong.

The problem isn't the physical ports themselves - it's the drivers, right?

How can I install Windows on a system with Linux already on it?

I've installed Linux with Windows already on it which was no problem but I'm not sure how the process goes for the other way around.
>>
>>51240305
IIRC Windows messes with the MBR, so you would have to mess with grub after installing windows.

I think it's typically recommended to install Windows first, and then Linux next.

If I were in your spot, I'd back up all files, wipe the hard drive, install Windows, and then install Linux.

then re-setup your bootloader if it's the same disk linux is on, since windows will overwrite it

Hi /g/
Recently I've been dealing with the "unable to connect to proxy server" thing with browsers where malware fucks with your browsers. Anyway I've run anti-m and got rid of all the malware. But there is still a program hiding somewhere that none of my anti malware software can find that keeps causing my browsers to fail to access the Internet. If I boot into safe mode with networking everything is 100% fine, I can browse sites like normal. But even though my internet options are not configured to use a proxy server my browsers keep returning that same error. So basically I've checked the registry, Internet settings, plug ins and extensions for chrome, scanned my system many times, all while in safe mode I still can't get rid of this problem. It frustrates me because I wasn't even looking at porn when my browsers stopped working.
Why it no work?

- Make the width of #urlbar take up the rest of the bar.

However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to do these. I can't see any specific rule creating the line, but I may just be missing it; I can adjust the width of the button but the clickable bit doesn't get any wider; the only time I've been able to change the width of #urlbar was when I set its position to static, but percentages didn't seem to work.

TreeMaps are stored by keys, not values. You cannot sort the occurrences in a map.

Try using a Bag (probably the best idea), abusing a priority queue, or just store the number of occurrences in an unsorted map (like a hashmap) then scan though all of then at the very end instead.

Hey, I started learning JAVA a few days ago and today I thought I'd dick around and try and make something.

So I want my "app" to ask the user is asked to solve 2+2,
every false answer reads "incorrect" and will reask the question, the user must input another answer until the correct answer is reached which will output "correct" and end the loop.

So far what I have is

import java.util.Scanner;
public class muckabout {

public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
//int ans, math;
System.out.println("What is 2+2?");
int math = input.nextInt();

//while (math == !4) System.out.println("nah cunt guess again");

//String cat = "it is 4";
if (math == 4) System.out.println("good onya cunt");

I know when it says UP TO Xmbps it's unlikely to be Xmbps but even looking at user reviews everyone else seems to get much more preferable speeds.

Is there any possible reason for this? I don't understand and have tested on more than one device

You can get an Adblocker and you can delete system apps you don't want anymore. You have more freedom in essence, but if you're not really even aware of the advantages and you're happy with your phone there might not be much point

Try something like this
public static void main(String[] args) {
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
int math;
System.out.println("What is 2+2?");
while(math != 4)
math = input.nextInt();

if (math == 4)
{
System.out.println("good onya cunt");
}
else
{
System.out.println("nah cunt guess again");
}

}
}

>>
>>51242906
I know, but that's not really up to me to decide and I need to replace both.
>>
>>51243183
thanks heaps, i figured if I put the input thing inside the while brackets it works out alot better and doesn't give "incorrect, guess again" *infinity.

import java.util.Scanner;
public class muckabout {

public static void main(String[] args) {

Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
String question = "Answer '2 + 2' as an integer";
System.out.println(question);
int intIn ;
while ((intIn = input.nextInt())!= 4) System.out.println("incorrect, guess again");
if (intIn == 4) System.out.println("correct, congratulations!");
else System.out.println("incorrect, guess again");

}
}

That's what it looks like now, i changed the variable and responses to make it easier to read/ i was a bit embarrassed about my output responses.

Can anyone give critiques.
>>
>>51243518
Work out the logic, then do the code.

I'd have:

Loop (infinite until broken):

Prompt the question
Read in the answer
If it's right, break out of the loop. If not, keep looping (and optionally tell the user they are wrong.)

So it seems like G2A somehow snuck some G2A Shield subscription in with a key I bought, that I can't cancel until 2 days before the recurring date (what a load of shady bullshit) Will cancelling the "agreement" in Paypal prevent them from charging me if I forget to cancel it in time? Really annoying that they did this shit at all, I never agreed to any trial anywhere, and definitely never agreed to a recurring billing agreement like that.

Got me a rpi2 and I want to make a little seedbox and media center out of it (simultaneously). The way I see it is i connect it directly to tv with hdmi cable with kodi (OSMC) running. However Im not sure how I would make it run torrent client at the same time. Does that mean my actual OS should be raspbian and I run Kodi (and likely rTorrent) as an application? Is this too much resource-hungry for a Pi2? Any idiot proof tutorials on doing all of this? Im sure I would eventually do it myself but really can't be bothered tinkering whole day right now...

I was copying files to my hard drive and then back to my SSD. The file transfer was chugging along, slowly. Explorer crashes, rebooted 2 or 3 times because windows boot was slow. Running chkdsk ETA 16 hours... How should I go about backing it up before I can't?
>>
>>51244304
>How should I go about backing it up before I can't?
if the files are already corrupted, it's too late for that. that's why you make a backup when you get the file, not when you need the backup.
i would also recommend using linux for large file transfers.

I was planning to buy a thinkpad and I can't decide between a t540p and a t450.
The t540p offers me a i5-4210M for 60euros, the t450 on the other has a i5-5200U for 260 euros as the cheapest option so I'm thinking about getting the t540p, but I was reading around and people were complaining about the 540p monitor quality.
In conclusion, is the thinkpad t540p monitor quality bad or not?

What specifications can a new drive have to be incompatible with the laptop. Is there anything else than the width?
>>
>>51244521
Height as well. some 2.5" HDDs have a different height, so you want to add some buffer foam for it to fit. Especially in external enclosures.
Not that it would make it incompatible though, but I wouldn't want my HDD to have a little room to wobble around.

Other than that the port, IDE/SATA etc.
>>
>>51244564
Thank you, didn't know about the height thing.

So i've got a soft modded Wii,

I got the home brew channel and put USB loader gx on a SD card.

I've got USB loader GX running but when I run some games it just gives me a black screen and nothing happens.

I tried to change the game ios to 250/defaul/224 and this persists.
I can see the game splash screen in the loader, title of the game + options + start game but when I start it I just get a black screen with no sound.

I have an external USB wifi network card on my laptop which gets a good signal.

I want to use my internal wifi card as a wifi hotspot so my phone can also get wifi.

What is the easiest way to do this?

Im on Windows 7, my phone is an android
>>
>>51244774
you can try virtual router manager. but you can not use the wifi for your laptop while also using your laptop as a hotspot as far as i know.

Can I still not use wifi for my laptop if I also broadcast a hotspot through my second wifi card?

Seems weird because I have seen people with a 4g pen broadcast through their wifi card and still have connectivity

it might be possible, but i can't help you with that, i always use ethernet.

jut try vrm and see if it works
>>
>>51244304
Boot from a different drive or bootable media. I'd manually copy off everything you absolutely must save first, then do a full disk image with whatever software you prefer. There's no point wasting valuable time chkdsk-ing a dying drive when you can just chkdsk whatever you clone the disk image to later.
>>
>>51245150
But I can't I am pretty sure the MFT is corrupt that is why I am doing a chkdsk. I have tried reading it on a live linux usb and I get an error trying to mount it.
>>
>>51245191
You should still be able to do a full image of the disk even if the filesystem is corrupt, I think. Then you can sort out the MFT after cloning it to a new working drive.
>>
>>51245238
First problem is canceling chkdsk is a bad idea. I don't know what I would lose if I stop it. Chkdsk /F is what I am doing ETA 22 hours... my other problem is. Would I be able to backup to more than one drive using Acronis True Image? I only have 2 500GB drives I can use.
>>
>>51245312
Well you can let it proceed if you really want to, but honestly I think it's a bit of a waste. Chkdsk is not going to make your drive healthy if it is already on its last legs, and it might wear it out faster.

I have the opportunity to upgrade my w7 to w10
For free.
What is the catch?
Is it worth it?
>>
>>51246934
There's not really any catch. Your W7 license isn't voided, and I'd recommend at least doing it once so you can save the product key so you're not locked out in the future if you actually suddenly do have a good reason to upgrade. (Even if you change your mobo/PC I seriously doubt it would be hard to activate it from Microsoft's phone support like you could do with every other version.) Might be helpful in getting a discount on a future product as well or another free upgrade down the line.
>>
>>51246951
Oh, also you can roll back easily as long as you're not a dumbass like I was and did a clean install after upgrading. (Then later realized it had a memory leak with one of my drivers and had to go back the hard way.)

I dunno, there's no harm in evaluating it and seeing if you like it I say.

I recently moved cases, and I can hear some things. When running CPUID or HWiNFO32, every 3 seconds there's a noise. Same noise when running Speccy, but every 8ish seconds instead. I assume that's when these programs refresh.
Running Afterburner doesn't give me the noise, so it's not the videocard or CPU that's causing it. Leading me to belive that it's probably them polling the HDD to check the temp.
Can anyone confirm this? I've ran 1 of these programs all the time for the past 5+ years, so I doubt this does any damage. I just haven't heard it till now with the new case.

I just like to know where all my sounds are coming from.

What reason could there be for one of my drives suddenly having EXTREMELY bad read/write speeds out of the blue? Came back from a vacation and I can't even watch a movie that was on the hard drive without stuttering.

HD Tune reads no bad sectors or bad anything, but the read speed while scanning for sectors was also ludicrously slow (<1MB/s vs over 140MB/s on the good one).

Guessing just the drive failing? Pic related. Doesn't really look like it is, but there's definitely an issue.

Not seeing anything there that looks wrong for a Caviar Green except for the CPU use. Don't know what could be causing that. Wonder if you had a driver shit itself or a port going bad.

First thing to try: Remove RAM modules, CPU, all cards and connectors from the motherboard.

Use a grounded vacuum tube to clean up dust.

Re-connect everything, power on and see if it helps.

If not, remove ram modules, leave only one in. Test again. Repeat with other ram modules.

If it still blue screens, get another HDD, reinstall windows on it, test again.

These steps should diagnose about 90% of blue screens.
>>
>>51248522

If it's a driver, would I just need to reinstall/update?

And I was going to try changing the port later. Don't know what caused it, had computer in lock for a few days while I was gone (since I wanted to keep seeding torrents) and when I came back and tried copying some files to my flash drive the speeds were literally <3MB/s and then just tanked to 0 indefinitely. Utorrent can't even download to that drive because it can't write fast enough or something.

Normally I'd assume drive failure, but with no anything being shown as an alert in HD Tune or otherwise, I dunno.
