just guessing as I don't really know but
on the far right is a power supply that is powering the box furtherest on the left
second box from the right is the power supply for the emmeline 2 valve amp that is third from the right

I don't know what the box on the far left does but the blue cables coming out of it are audio input into the valve amp
it also has what looks like an optical line in (the grey plug)
it might be a receiver or digital to analog converter

the head phones are possibly connected to the valve amp directly
and the optical line in could be connected to the mac book

I believe, from left to right in a 2 dimensional perspective, a DAC, hybrid tube amplifier, external power supply for said amplifier, and a "power conditioner".

Throw in some over priced cables and those ridiculous headphones and you have a 5 figure audio set up. All of which is pure placebo.

>5) Get the cables off the floor. There are a number of theories surrounding this tweak, but the most plausible focus on the areas of vibration and static electricity. Decoupling the cables from the floor reduces structure-borne vibrations that can reduce focus and cause audible “smearing.” Static charges present in carpet (and other flooring materials) couple to the cable, resulting in increased background noise and grain. Try this experiment: Cut an empty paper towel (or toilet paper) tube into 2 – 3” lengths. Use these to raise all cables off the floor, and as spacers to separate cables from one another. Better systems will often benefit from this tweak, realizing improved detail, air and transparency. If you like what you hear, you may want to replace the cardboard tubes with something a bit more attractive! There are a number of companies manufacturing specific products for the purpose. You can also build your own, but remember to use non-conductive materials, with wood and paper being common choices.

Your phone uses noisy switching power supplies internally for generating its power rails. Using linear regulators would drain the battery in no time and make your phone red hot. Meanwhile, that system uses linear power supplies for both the DAC and the amp, since power consumption and heat dissipation aren't as much of a problem as having noise in the output.
That being said, the system in OP's picture is retarded. It is connected to the computer via TOSLINK, limiting the resolution to 16-bit and the sample rate to 44,1KHz, the outputs of the DAC are balanced XLR connectors, but the inverted part of the signal is thrown away because the amp uses unbalanced RCA inputs. The tubes resonate at certain frequencies (microphonics, look it up), making the frequency response cureve non-linear.
I could plug those headphones into my $50 system (Behringer UCA200 DAC, Unitra WS 330 amp) and get objectively better sound.

But anon, linear regulators can be up to 80% efficient. As long as the input voltage is just above the dropout voltage of the regulator.

Do people at this level of audio idiocy even listen to music? What musical geniuses are driving these people to spend tens of thousands of dollars to listen to?
>>

>used speakers

audio pleb detected, you do realise that after the speakers reach the 1 year old mark they lose their fidelity right?

those are ornamental speakers at this point.

>Your phone uses noisy switching power supplies internally for generating its power rails
This noise is extremely low in a lot of cases. Implementation and design matters more than the type of power supply.
>Using linear regulators would drain the battery in no time and make your phone red hot
Not necessarily, linear regulators aren't that inefficient if well designed.
>It is connected to the computer via TOSLINK, limiting the resolution to 16-bit and the sample rate to 44,1KHz
Untrue and this doesn't limit any fidelity during listening even if it did.

>Not necessarily, linear regulators aren't that inefficient if well designed.
Linear regulators can only be as efficient as the voltage drop. That is a hard limit.
Switching regulators regularly surpass 95% efficiency across their operating range.
