Casio solar watches use a standardized rechargeable battery that can be replaced if needed
They will NOT need a cap or any actual modification, unless there's water damage
If you keep the battery on medium or high throughout it's life it'll last longer, generally batteries should be fine for at least 10 years. Tough Solar watches charge under any kind of light, so just don't keep it in a drawer or something and it should be fine.

It uses the typical 7S26 movement. I don't remember the exact price but it was over $300 CAD. While I think it's a nice looking watch, I would never buy it at that price, since you're getting dangerously close to SARB territory. Of course, The Bay has a habit of overpricing watches. I've seen bog standard Seiko 5s on sale for $185, and they try to make it sound good to people by saying "it winds itself! Just like a Rolex!"

I wouldn't call SKX a cult classic, I would call it more of a mainstream or 'true' classic. It first started to be produced 20 years ago and carries the same torch that affordable Seiko divers have been carrying for 50 years.
Orange monster is just around to capitalize on some of the people who like ugly watches. They wanted some of that market share too.
It's got a gathering, but not the wide appeal of classic seiko divers that has a decent appreciation among watchfags in general.
