You're in luck that it's still available. It's pretty good, only two real downsides:
>snapping it on the watch was pretty fucking hard
>lume pip is symbolic at best

Also available in blue and green.

Why do this? With their combined cost you could have gotten a few good watches that you can wear regularly (and have decent resale value of you want to trade), instead of a bloated collection that mostly sits in your drawer, too shitty to even use as home decor.
>>
How should I wear the SARB033, a little bit too thight or a little bit too loose? The single microadjust is shit and I gotta do with one of the two solutions.

why wouldn't this be a real one? the angle of the picture just sucks.
it's this one http://www.strela-watch.de/product/co42cyb/

number 097 with a real 3133 with blued screws. the watch comes from julian kampmann, i think a very reputable seller.
>>
>>55320021
It's not a real Strela nor is it like the rest of the slightly better clones with the better date window placement and Tachy text. Julian is well known though, no issues with that.

A real Sterla would have the 3017 movement.
>>
>>55319967
>>55319988
With a dress watch, you want to wear it tight enough that it won't move on its own, but loose enough that you can shake it out of your sleeve to look at the time. Follow the pinky rule (you can slip your pinky under the strap).
>>
>>55320095
so which ones are you referring to, the 38mm variants? this is a 42mm one.
>>
>>55320170
Meh, that solution might work for people that don't have bitchwrists, for us enough space to let a pinky through is a huge amount of space.
>>
>>55319856
mah nig. how long it take you to find that?
>>

Yeah, those that are closer to the original.

But if that's a 42mm gimme a wrist pic. I haven't seen one in the wild.
>>
>>55320225
and obviously it's a remake of the original, but it does have a 3133 movement. and what's wrong with the date window? where should it be then? they're always in that position

Why do people feel the need to thank someone that compliments an object? It's not like I made it, I simply bought it. When they tell me that I always reply with a "yeah", continuing with a "that's exactly why I bought it, genius" in my mind.

Maybe I'm just autistic but this is something that bothers me a lot.

Polar Explorer looks like a 12-year old tier watch. Batman bezel'd stainless steel GMT master is a nice choice.

Or get either a chronograph or a vintage JDM watch.

A few of them were gifts or watches I had owned for years but found in a drawer as I recently got into watches 'properly'.

When I get some cash together I plan on paring my collection down to just 3 or 4 watches to wear in a rotation. Starting with a Sarx015 with next months wages, then eventually a Tudor Black Bay or Rolex Explorer 1.

Glad to hear your LM Special is working so nicely. It would be a shame to rip the green one apart for components.

>>55324410
Honestly Yahoo Auctions is a bit of a meme. A lot of the stuff there is in exceptionally poor condition, and when it is in good condition the savings over eBay are not exactly substantial. Now, if you use it for rarer JDM stuff, that is a different story.

Serviced a customer watch today with a 7S36 in it. First time working on anything in the 7S series, and damn do Seiko know how to simplify mechanisms as much as possible. I was amazed by just how few components are in that movement.

Pic unrelated, but also something I serviced. Sorry if it's sideways, posting from my phone.

Indeed, it would be a shamefur dispray to strip it for spares.

Though as it sits now, this project is going to take quite a while to get going. I'll likely get either some variety of a meme Penis or an Elnix before.

2481 owner here, I don't think they're rebranded, more like a Tissot produced movement of a joint Tissot-Omega design. I believe Tissot and Omega were somewhat merged during that time.

That sounds right. I should have elaborated.

>>
>>55327335
no problem...
>>55327269
is more accurate: not rebranded, but rather co-branded. my understanding is that Omega & Tissot were manufacturing under the same roof and many of the same movements were used.

accuracy is about +6-7 / day.
power reserve is more than a day but a bit less than two, haven't measured exactly.

The sand colored perlon that Z'Gok anon recommended came in. The Clockwork Synergy strap is pretty good considering it is less than half the price of a Eulit strap in freedomland.
>>
>>55320340

You'll get more than a decade out of that battery unless it's faulty. That thing will probably last until the gaskets dry out and it drowns in the rain. If you avoid that, you can probably get it serviced.

Plenty of the original G-Shocks from 1984 are still running and parts are still available. Don't worry.

The Clockwork synergy strap is much longer than a Eulit perlon, it is also feels slightly thicker, and the strands of nylon in the weave are larger. Both are supposedly Nylon 6. One of the major downsides to the clockwork strap is the change in buckle means that the strap's length is not adjustable outside of cutting and heat welding the strap.

The Seastars actually had a whole shitload of movements, some of which were excellent and some which were total dogshit. The worst was the 2770. The heat welds in the clockwork strap were no where near the quality of the eulit and the tip of the strap was fraying right out of the box. It was not a big deal to patch it up with a lighter(I still need to sand down the rough bits of burnt plastic) but you get what you pay for. One upside of the clockwork strap is that it seems to have some type of waxy coating similar to maratac natos and zulus. It does a really good job of repelling moisture and sweat. I wish my eulit strap had this same type of coating on it. My eulit strap does get a sour smell after a couple weeks of wear in the current humid summer weather.

Can't you just throw it in the washer? I'd think uncoated would be more comfortable (as it absorbs and evaporates sweat). I mean, it's already nylon.

I will pass on this information.
>>
>>55330019
The coating is a personal preference. If you have heard people on other venues go on about "seatbelt" material natos this is what they are talking about. I would rather have sweat/moisture run off the strap than the strap absorbing it. Absorbing moisture makes the strap bulkier, cause the strap to loosen, and later on smell. As for the first point, yeah I do wash them after brushing on a solution of one part baking soda and water paste to one part dish soap to one part household hydrogen peroxide. Its probably a bit overkill but just laundry detergent and a washing has been ineffective in removing the smell previously.
>>
>>55330221
I would tell him to get an orient bambino or something like that. If he likes the brown leather strap he can keep it but if not then he can buy the dead alligator skin

See that gold wheel at the top of picture? There is a +/- on the bridge and a lever, you adjust that to change if it is fast or slow.

Look all over your watch to see if it says 7S26B anywhere on it. That specific movement has a design flaw that does not exist in either the A or C versions of the movement. The hairspring can get dislodged and tangled kind of easily. I've heard of people fixing it themselves by giving it another smack in a certain way but I forgot exactly how you do that. Look it up or just take it to a watchmaker.

Panatime.

Honestly, they could be more comfortable. But they are very well built and durable, which is what these straps are meant to be I guess. They do soften up after you wash them a few times, so the comfort level does improve over time.

they are still better than rubber or steel for me. And I sweat like an animal, so leather isn't an option.

I got one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Mudder-Spring-Remover-Watchmaker-Extra/dp/B00W9C37VG
It uses friction to hold the tips (tightened by a screw-washer thing) rather than having them screwing in. The Bergeon "heavy duty" tool, the 6111, uses the same concept, so its tips should fit my tool. I've read the Bergeon tips are better finished (i.e. well grip better) and harder (dulls less easily). The Mudder one is already starting to dull and is taking me more tries to grip the spring bars, and I've only had it for 2 months (I do change straps almost every other day though). I finally had it today when a spring bar slipped out of the fork as I was removing it, launching it across the room somewhere, and figured it doesn't hurt to try a Bergeon tip.

>She doesn't like dive watches, will only wear it when planning on diving or swimming
Fair enough.

In that case, look into a Green Amphibia or something along those lines. 200m WR, so more than sufficient for skin diving. And quite literally hundreds of styles.

420 is the smallest one going, but wears a lot bigger than most watches of the same size. Slap a rubber band on there, as the normal one is god awful.

If she's fixed on a green dial that is.

Orient watches wear really quite small, My marshall is as thin, if not thinner than most quartz you'll see. I can't speak for the mako or ray, but they're cheap, and decent for the price.

Fuck it. May just get her a plain black scuba dude with agreen perlon and tell her to deal with it
>>
>>55336412
I've only seen that one neptune with the green she likes.
She thinks it's "too big"
Ill just find a black dial she likes and green perlon.
Sounds like the best plan
>>
>>55336438
Yeh..Green and diver are hard to find, yet alone a small one.
>>
>>55336340
Shame, the Excalibur is a great piece for it. There's the other PMA series promaster that can also fit it

mm...

Another option would be trying to get a 4205 diver with a green/teal aftermarket dial and get it properly serviced, assembled and resealed.

Someone red pill me in this.
I actually like the quirky design.
I'm guessing the movement would be cheap though

Design is shit and follows no function, case is huge for no reason when the movement inside is known to be quite thin, WR is shit despite that huge slab of steel, fake copper color will age poorly and peel off.

But you seem to be a writing fedora kind of guy, so get the complementary wrist fedora that will suit your shit taste.

I found this on ebay, believe it or not. It cost me a fair bit, but I was lucky to come across something like this
>>
>>55337368
>It cost me a fair bit
As expected.
Something like that I imagine is near impossible to find.

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for the 1970 LM?
>>
>>55337382
somewhere in the ball park of $300-400. For me that's a lot since I'm not an avid collector, but once I saw it I knew I had to buy it.
>>
>>55337422
aus dollars btw

That's not bad at all, I was expecting something upward of $500US.

So to summarise. ...fedora?
Eh say what you want about my pens, i have studied calligraphy as a hobby since i was about 8.
Yeah i never intended this to be a utility watch.
So the only thing wrong with it other than being an out there design is the finish might rub off?
WR is not really a consideration for a dress watch i don't plan on invading an island chain
>>
>>55337448
I bought this some time ago. I would expect it to be about that much now. The '72 bell matic was closer to 500 when I bought it
>>
>>55337468
>I would expect it to be about that much now
To look at it. I would happily consider paying near to $700 for something so gorgeous. Horology be damned, that thing is just magnificent to look at.
>>
>>55337492
I'm very lucky to have it. My father once said to me that I didn't deserve it, and that someone who cared about watches more than me should be wearing it. Oh well

>Seiko today
>"Guys! Why don't we make another diver?"

I really don't get it. They used to release killer, daring models, now it's all generic dress watches, Citizen-grade quartz shit, and **Yet Another Generic Diver®**?

The only noteworthy thing today seems to be Alpinists, which are Japan only, redesigns are released in ridiculously low quantities, and the latest are fucking abortions.

What the fuck happened to this brand?

It's not about being a "utility watch", it's about having a design that makes sense. If it doesn't make sense and just looks "cool", you end up with a Diesel or Fossil watch. It screams bad design even to the uneducated eye, and that makes your expensive watch looks like shit.

Because at over 2400€, it is expensive. It's the kind of gaudy watch rich people with no taste buy because they only look at the price. And then it ages poorly.

You could get three great watches for the same price.

Its a shame that Visconti's designs are so crazy they actually make pretty cool fountain pens. Say what you want about Richemont's Montblanc watches but at least they did not think adding a huge fucking crown on a diver was a good idea.

As for the watch, the movement is fine. The water resistance is pretty meh for how much metal it appears is in the watch case. The case looks like you slipped the guy in charge of designing Invicta Reserves a shit load of drugs and told him to go at it. The dial pattern might be pretty nice but I can't really tell from the pictures you posted and obscured by the lugs. To top it all off your probably paying way too much for all of it. In summation buy watches from watch companies and pens from pen companies.

Btw which Visconti pens do you own. I have an older Van Gogh with the 14k nib and wanted to buy a Homo Sapiens but wound up passing on it when I got a 149 and had the nib modified.
