Why the fuck do people drool all over 4Ghz ddr4 bullshit when sata3 is still 6Gb/s?
>>54673672
Your RAM is not attached to your SATA bus...
>>54673672
because they don't make sata ram?
>>54673672
Because of M.2.

He probably means HDD is slow -> takes a while to load all the data into the RAM.
So HDD is bottlenecking RAM a lot when loading data, so making RAM faster isn't solving this bottleneck at all ...
>>54673736
yep, thats what i meant
>>54673736
That is a bottleneck to general system performance, however once data is in the memory subsystem the HDD is no longer acting as a bottleneck (at least until another write operation needs to happen).
>>54673736
m.2 is still just roughly 14Gb/s, still way less than those 4Ghz sticks
>>54673875
and that only effects program startup, as everything loads into ram after started, so like ol dude said the only real bottleneck is the occasional write cycle
>>54673875
So? If you really need better read/write performance for your application you can use a RAM disk and then periodically write to persistent storage.

>what is raid 0

If hard drives were as fast as RAM there would be no reason to have RAM, but they aren't. If you wanna crack that wide open, go for it.
