Why the fuck are there so many normies here?
They're starting to leak out to other threads and it's starting to become a problem
Fuck off normies
>>
>>54613153
"normies" are the least cancerous thing to happen to this board in a long time.

Once the mods go full nazi and delete any thread can be viewed even remotely as Spam/Advertisement, then this board will start to get better again..Remove the shit, and the shitposting shall cease.
>>
>>54613162
A proper full nazi solution is having /wt/ on /g/ be digital only, and the "appreciation of micro-engineering and materials engineering" be moved to /fa/ where it belongs.
>>
>>54613189
Watches are closer to technology than a fucking homescreen.

Of all the things to remove on this board, /wt/ is pretty far down the list.
>>
>>54613204
There is no technology discussion in these threads, don't fucking kid yourself
It's all autism about how a watch looks
>>
>>54613218
And what technological discussion is there to be had in a Desktop thread?..Or homescreen thread? It's just a thinly veiled attempt to circlejerk over whatever Anime people here watch.

There would be decent money in finding a cheap higher end watches and doing repairs, you wouldn't want to be slaving away for hours on a few shitty watches to make a few measly dollars, you would be better off working an actual job

What you should do if you are looking to actually profit from it is gamble a bit and hope watches don't have anything majority wrong with them. Buy whatever brand watch for say $200, repair it (hopefully something very easy) then sell it for $800

Don't Slave away to turn a $15 watch into a $50 watch

>>54614993
There was some pretty bad shit in the 70s, it's just that it was all consigned to the landfill and only the cool stuff still floats around. Still I think the 70s were overall a glorious time for watch design. The low point was the 1990s; pretty much the only good thing to come out of that decade was the SKX.
>>
>>54615763

>>
>>54614958
To properly change a battery requires silicon grease and a new gasket, things which are understandably not in the normie arsenal.
>>
>>54616058
If it's an actual waterproof watch. Plus the idea of replacing the gasket after every time you open a watch is mostly horseshit, a scam to get you to pay serious shekels for a rubber ring. This whole gasket thing only applies to serious dive watches that are expected to be relied on at their rated depth.
>>
>>54615896
The reps are made out of titanium and quite some have actual (refurbished or otherwise low spec) ETA2824s in them.

It'd probably pass as a gen for most irl, but would it for the wearer? Would it make sense for the one who wears it to have a $3.5k watch? Does the wearer have the wrists to wear up a 42mm diver?

Can that pass for gen? Yes, especially to Normies. Most high quality reps sold on the major boards look close enough to gen to fool Normies and imo are better than uber thick Borealis memes. Just ensure your QC pics look decent and use a good TD from Replica Watch Info or RepGeek

/Wt/ hates reps because they bought the meme they're all cheap Canal Street shit but they are generally ignorant and poorly informed. Also there's a huge backlash on here against almost anything costing more than $300. While I agree $300 to 5K has a lot of bad watches in iy and Swatch/Richemont group are jews this doesn't mean watched in this range are actually bad... And it doesn't mean reps especially from the big makers are bad either.

>>
>>54619509
"4R" and "6R" refer to the general type of movement (clockwork) that powers the watch. The two of them are considered to be Seiko's lower-mid and mid-range movements, respectively. The two have very similar feature sets (you can hand-wind a 4R35 and a 6R15, and when you pull the crown out on both the seconds hand stops, a feature called "hacking"), howecer the 6R15 has a longer power reserve (will run longer when taken off the wrist) because it uses a special mainspring material.

I think most typical watch cases and dials are pretty ugly. No Rolex, Seiko, Tag, Breitling, or dozens of others have ever struck me as really good looking.
A few Urwerk models I find really pretty as well as technically impressive all around. Shame I don't have $150,000 laying around to buy one. Some select Cartier cases are very, very nice as well, and certain special edition Citizen watches I find pleasing.

For a somewhat plain case shape, the bold face on this Cartier is rather striking.
>>

you should see it in person before judging.

the bezel is 42mm, so its for a man's wrist.

the hands are fine imo, but tastes are subjective entiendo, madam

blue is a damn fine color.

The Urwerk UR-210 in titanium stainless is one of my favorite designs by far.
Wandering hour style is probably the most simple way to display the time apart from digital. The design and way they operate is incredibly interesting as well, and thats something that sets mechanical watches and clocks apart from electronics with a pcb.

i don't see why there's any reason that watch makers create such gastly creations.
I doubt something like pic releated was that expensive to produce. ( excluding the mechanism)
I personally think it's just down to consumers not caring enough. Japanese homeland goods are usually a higher quality becuase Jappanese people won't tolerate shit.

Display casebacks are neat even for a plain movement, even the 7s26 gets a sunroof. But yeah, three-quarter plates are cancer I hate Citizen for doing this in their movements (and unidirectional winding).

Also am I the only one who kind of wants this watch to exist?

They are already pretty bulky, exhibition caseback would make them even fatter, also they use a basic movement that isn't decorated or anything nice to look at and if I recall correctly, exhibition caseback is less waterproof than a normal one

>>
>>54626593
If current production it's most likely marketed as womens, unisex or at absolute best midsize alternate version of the model. Don't stare yourself blind at the case size though, lug to lug is significantly more important. I /could/ wear an SKX007 without lug overhang. Sub looks okay too even if it technically has lug overhang. If you're not actually going diving, why not go vintage?

>>
>>54626726
Well I was looking at vintage Seikos, but everything was at least 45mm lug to lug. With 6" wrists that is not going to work. What are some good vintage options?
>>
>>54626793
Measure your wrist width with a caliper. My wrist is ~47.5mm across, yet a sub with 48mm lug to lug looks acceptable.

I personally don't know vintage divers that well besides that I lust for a 36mm super compressor (styled) watch. Anything that roughly fits you combined with a thicker strap, rubber perhaps, wouldn't get a second glance. Question is if you'd feel truly comfortable with it.

If it's the style you like the Armida A11 could interest you size-wise.

It searches for sellers that ship to you.

On the global eBay is lists the sellers that don't ship to you at the very end of the search list.

Plus the guy has the aftermarket sapphire crystal along with extra straps.

Also Amphibia on new mesh to trigger all the wehrmachtboos. Pretty easy to resize with the proper tools.

Depends on the watch really.

Nato/zulu or bracelets for tool/dive watches, perlon and leather for casual and dress watches.
