You can install linux mint after watching a 5 minute howto on youtube.
Nice going if you get through it though.

There's 87 different linux programs for ripping a cd. You haven't even tried one yet. Try a few before you decide which you prefer. Don't worry about minimalist, just think about easy.
mint, opensuse, or something that ends in buntu would be a good start.

unlike debian where you don't get firefox until you enable a repo and update your system

Install Fedora, openSUSE, or Ubuntu. They're all great.

Then go to r/unixporn, deviantart, or dotshare and find something cool. Download the wm and de that they use use copy their config files
>>
Don't let that put you off linux entirely. Arch is made for advanced users, and is complicated because of the nature of the OS. The philosophy behind arch is to give the user complete control over the system. Nothing happens unless you tell it to. It's great for people who like that level of control over their system, but for most people (especially if it's your first experience with linux) it's needelessly complicated. I would recommend Ubuntu if you've never used linux before, and if you like it and want to learn more, you should switch to debian.
>>
>>54604058
Install some other distro so that you just familiarize yourself with the terminal. You're most likely are making little mistakes just because you never used a terminal

pacman is a package manager like apt
Syu is an update argument.

For instance you want to update system and install VLC

Arch:
#pacman -Syu vlc

Ubuntu:
#apt-get update && apt-get install vlc (I rarely used ubuntu so I may be wrong)

You don't really have to use a bare window manager if you are using Arch
