I've got a S4 currently and it's time to upgrade. I've been thinking on going for a phone with a bigger screen since a phone to me is more of a mobile internet/media machine than a device for calling. I was looking at the Note 4 and LG V10. Is there much of a difference? The V10 is only 50€ more and it's much newer and seems to have many small improvements.

Any other options I should think about?
>>
Sup /g/uys, i'm new so please don't be too harsh.
I live in Italy, and I need a smartphone under 200€, with a micro SD card slot. It shouldn't be too big, but I don't really care. I won't use it for work.

Does it make sense to get a new Xperia Z3 right now? I want a cheap-ish phone with pretty good specs, and there are lots of Z3s on ebay for less than 300$.

Should I consider something else?

Looking for a 300 euro-ish phone
Features I'd like it to have:

5.5" screen
Long battery life
1080p screen, Amoled is a plus
Stock (or near stock) android and updates for years to come

So far I've been thinking of Oneplus one, xperia c5 (was too big), Lg g3 and honor 5x
each of those have their own up and downsides but none have all of those features mentioned above

Got any suggestions /g/ or am I fucked with the 300 euro budget?

I've bought plenty of used smartphones in the past 6 years and they've always been fine, other than worn out batteries which are like $10 to replace. Yeah it's great but the two things I was concerned about was the quad hd display, since I've read it consumes alot of battery making the "big" 3000 mah battery feel not-so-big and the fact that it's a two year old phone so it probably won't get updates for much longer.

But it feels great in the hand, the camera and auto focus was awesome and it seemed like a quick and snappy phone even tho it has the lg skin and quadhd display

This is the problem: phones have a limited lifespan, 2-4 years depending on usage. There are 2 main phone killers, batteries and internal NAND.

Battery:
Most phones have cheap lithuim/li-po batteries that have 300-600 cycles of good use before they fail or have problems. With a worn out battery you can get permanent damage on phones because they can malfunction in unpredictable ways. This isn't too much of a problem with phones that have removable batteries since you can replace them for like $20 but is a hassle to deal with.

Internal NAND:
Most phones also have cheap MLC NAND with cheap controllers that have under 1,000 write cycles before they fail or develop hotspots (because cheap controllers mean bad wear leveling). Average use on phones can wear out the internal NAND significantly or create hotspots if the controller is really cheap. If the NAND is really worn out the phone will one day shut off and refuse to turn on no matter what. If there are hotspots the phone will constantly malfunction before dying completely.

>tl;dr
phones have short lifespans and are not worth getting used no matter what. Your car analogy makes no sense since cars are expected to function 5-10 years but phones are not.
>>

Nope, your phone is now at the end of it's estimated lifespan. Expect it to completely fail soon or malfunction and then completely fail.

Interesting fact: phone manufacturers could use 64/128GB internal nand with high quality controllers for a few more dollars in material costs but don't because they would last too long and they wouldn't be able to jew you to buy a new phone every 2-4 years.

I initially tried T-mobile, it would only stay on 2G and never connect to 3G even though 1900mhz is supported. So I tried testing the other bands, and for LTE b41 worked really well in my area (northern california) showing average 50% strength wherever I went during an average day. But because of Sprint's "blacklist" on devices they won't allow just any unlocked phone in, but GSM providers don't seem to care.

Now I'm looking to get a cdma LG G2 since it costs about the same as the Redmi 3 (paid $120) and get on an inexpensive group plan. It sucks having to downgrade but the brand new Xiaomi was a good deal at the time. Awesome battery life, build quality, and good enough camera to beat any other phones available at the price.

>5 inch screen or bigger, I don't care how big as long as it's not bigger than 6 inches.
>32gb+ storage, microsd is a plus but not required
>3gb RAM+
>good processor with high GHz
>13mp camera+
>3000mah+
I am 'Murican and I will be using metropcs or cricket

breddy gud. What this score basically equates to irl is how well your phone can decode VP9 streams.

Go to www.youtube.com on Chrome and on options check "request desktop site". You are now in the desktop youtube page. Click and watch any 1080p video, go go settings in the youtube player, select 1080p, and click play. If everything goes well you see video playing. Finally confirm it's a 1080p VP9 screen by long-clicking in the middle of the playing video and clicking on stats for nerds.

Congrats your phone is 1337 enough to function as a laptop for most things including watching 1080p VP9 streams.

my sony xperia z1 is now very outdated and I'm gonna upgrade in July when I have more money. I'm thinking just going for an iPhone 6, as meme as it is, since it has a nice camera and I've been using android for the last few years. Should I do it? the 6s is too big right?

i'm most pissed off at the z1's "20.7mp camera" which feels like horse shit since the camera quality is really not that good and on snapchat it looks like shit

Any blackberry priv owners lurking?

I'm highly considering buying it; a modern flagship smartphone with a physical keyboard is near impossible for me to pass up but I have some concerns.

What do you think of the camera? Both user and editor reviews of the camera are pretty mixed, and I'm wary of both. I'm wary of people who say the camera is amazing when an overwhelming majority of people think mega pixels determine the image quality, and on the other hand, I'm skeptical of people say it's shit when even people who can actually reference image quality are probably still too incompetent to shoot in logical settings for any given environment. I'm having a hard time coming up with a lot of user shots online from this phone, most of them are from ignorant fucks who take blurryass photos while raving about how sharp the picture is.

It's also not rooted, so I'm concerned about the stability and speed of the device. How long have you had it, and how smooth is it running at this point? I switched to iOS because my experience with Android was incredibly laggy and slow (that and I like their cameras better). From what I can see, there's virtually no bloatware installed and it's a pretty barebones Android install, which is good, but I still would have been more comfortable if I could flash a custom ROM on it, but since that's not gonna happen, is it good enough as is?
>>
mi 5 to united states when?

>>54059268
Why the fuck is this the popular opinion? i hate that phone screens keep getting bigger, 5 inches of glass is plenty, why the fuck do you people want to get as close to a tablet as possible when most of you fucks already have one to begin with? it's a phone, not a computer.
>>

>>
>>54059305
Don't fall for the dual physical and software keyboard meme.

A friend of mine bought this and I saw him use the software keyboard all time over the physical one and asked him why, he said it was just more convenient than sliding it out every time. This will happen to you too. Unless you need to write essays or long ass emails on the thing, don't even think about it.
>>
Is the z5c camera objectively shit or is it shit compared to other high end cameras but still good enough for decent photos?
>>
>>54059116
Oh then yeah, you know tfwn xiaomi ._.
>>
>>54057868
I feel you.

Screen is smooth as silk tho and the grey one is awesome

Fuck you Xiaomi for not releasing a US version of Redmi
>>
>>54059381
Consider this: I am not your friend.

I have hated software keyboards since my first keyboardless-phone: The LG Dare, and they have not improved even slightly since then. They are still imprecise as hell and provide no meaningful feedback and they never will, they will always be shit. They rely so heavily on autocorrect because they're fucking incompetent pieces of trash, but autocorrect is shit too, it's more intrusive than the Nazi's in Poland. If I have to murder my entire fucking family to never use software keyboards again, I'd fucking do it, do you think I'm fucking joking? I would literally rape my own mother, bless her heart, in front of my father and my two daughters if need be, I shit you not. I would sever my legs off and forcefeed them to wife if someone gave me a phone I actually liked that had a physical keyboard. Using software keyboards honestly irritates me so much that it prevents me from choosing to reply to people or do much typing at all while I'm on my phone.

So no, I am not going to not use the physical keyboard just because it's "more convenient" not to slide it out. There is NOTHING convenient about software keyboards and I will not use them if I have another option. Do you understand me now, do I make myself perfectly clear, motherfucker?

Boost mobile, you can use as much data as you want with them, they don't give a fuck. I have their $55 a month plan and used over 60gb last month, had 0 problems. Speeds aren't that fast but they're okay, usually get 7-9mbps. I got them because I want to use as much data as I want to. I think they're a overall better deal, have less expensive phones too.
>>
>>54059487
Watch it, you're gonna cut someone with a post that edgy, buddy.

You're unrealistic just like most Priv owners. When most typing done on a phone is usually a quick text or entering a url, it's stupid to physically slide the keyboard out and in just to do these things when you have the room necessary to use the software keyboard. Not to mention swipe is a lot faster for most typing on smartphones.
>>
>>54059385
It's literally the best camera out there because of the massive 23MP resolution. You can crop and modify photos without too much distortion.
