What cheap chink tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?

Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on eBay, AliExpress, Gearbest and similar sites.

Can anyone recommend me a decent toolbox that they've bought?

Also is it worth it to invest in some quality basic tools or can I buy some cheap Chinese ones that will do the job just as well
>>
>>53965395
Just buy the tools that you need as you need them and you'll never end up with a box of useless shit. What are you planning to make?
>>
>>53965395
Local stores usually tend to have both, I've never bought cheap tools locally that didn't go to shit the moment a screw was turned.

With Chinese products it's a toss up, but it's cheaper. It's about the same really.

Wasn't Xiaomi caught having some Chinese backdoors? Why are so many people being from this brand I wonder.

Niqqas I want to learn some networking.
Was thinking of buying an Orange Pi, hooking it up to my router and using it as a test server for bash scripts and whatnot.
Good idea?
Is there an even cheaper alternative for doing this?
>>

Moving into a new apartment next week and I wanna be able to do basic maintenance myself, get some screwdrivers, plyers, hammer, wrench, stuff like that. It just seems easier to buy a set of tools rather than one at a time when I need them
And yeah some local stores usually have toolboxes on a discount, might check em out
>>

I could have but I already got the lamp for a fraction of what chinks are asking, from a garage sale. Just needed a E27 bulb and didn't feel like doing mains work or gutting the lamp.

get a $5 chocolate set from a supermarket. It will come with everything but the hammer. Usually its a handle with socket set and screwdriver sets and a set of wire cutter and player.

you arent really going to get quality tool steel from a set or china, but it sounds like you wont need it either.
>>

Ulefone Power - 6050mAh
Leagoo Shark 1 - 6300mAh
Oukitel K6000 Pro - 6000mAh
THL T7-4800mAh
Redmi 3-4100mAh

The first 4 have nearly identical specs with decent performance. the Redmi 3 also has great battery life but no 4g coverage if you're in the states.

can anyone suggest a good store like Ali with an eu warehouse?
>>
>>53966482
Did you order it sealed or let them flash their shit?
Did it come with bloatware?
Did it come with Gapps/Gstore?

Anyone tried buying obviously fake phones from taobao and then getting their money back? I've done something similar on eBay with china dropshipping. >>
>>53966530
I let them flash their shit, the ROM worked fine however I didn't like the idea of having a non-official ROM and not getting updates so I followed a tutorial and flashed the original ROM, everything works fine, xiaomi sent an update just yday as well, the original ROM didn't come with Gapps, you download and install this APK and boom you have em ( http://en.miui.com/thread-216576-1-1.html ), it's not anything hard to do, and yes I'm pretty satisfied with the phone, it's snappy and does all I want it to therefore I'm happy
>>
>>53966565
Also, buying some of the more expensive phones, then complaining about some very minor problem and getting my money back.
>>
>>53966530
Bought it off GearBest. Re-sealed and they flashed a weird version of miui with google play. Reflashed it with the international rom which also includes google play

Not really. The international version seems to be quite lighter than the chink version

Havent tried rooting so I can't comment on that. I've requested for an unlocked bootloader a few days ago from Xiaomi. When there's a stable version of cyanogenmod I'll flash it.

I'm very satisfied. Camera isn't the best under low light, sometimes I can't tell what's the top and what's the bottom of the phone, but it's still a great phone for the price

>>
Why pay €60 for a Kingdian when you can get a much more reliable 850 EVO for only €30 more? No-name NAND seems like a bad idea, and it has inferior total data write and write speed.

MiUI is basically a skin on top of Android along with a bunch of software. You won't be able to install base Android unless you manage to get the compatible drivers with your phone. Modders typically manage to find these and implement it in to cyanogenmod - another distribution running android

Question: Does fastboot flashing require and unlocked bootloader?
Or can I order a phone from them (which arrives full of chinky bloatwinky) and then just do what's written there out of the box?
>>
>>53968740
From what I understand, you don't need to unlock the bootloader with the fastboot.

When the CM options come along however, you'll need the authorisation.

There have been a few on here who have already done it.

Welp so this means in order to flash you need to unlock the bootloader.

Does AliExpress have some sort of rule against Nazi-related stuff? "Hitler mask" turns up no results, but there is something like this that doesn't mention Hitler at all:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/X-MERRY-Celebrity-Halloween-Funny-Mask-Latex-Party-Costume-Prob-Toys-Movie-06/32320399537.html

Same with anything else of the type - try to search for "wehrmacht", "third reich", "SS", "nazi" - no results. It's all hidden like the mask.
