Can anyone help trouble shoot why i cant turn my new build on?, i got lights but power wont power on.

Motherboard is 7170A
And as you can see the PSU is an 850 corsair

Everything seems plugged in, but power button just wont do anything
>>
remove video card

try powering on
>>
>>53699577
Still nothing, also tried alternating ram slots
>>
>>53699697
did you try the onboard power button?
>>
>>53699736
Thats the one im using because im still unsure what way to put the JFP1 cables in, the way shown isnt giving me front cover lights.
>>
>>53699796
did you put the CPU in right?
>>
>>53699511
oh my, I have the exact same problem >>53699740

precisely which lights on mobo are you getting on? any fans running?
>>
>>53699511
ram probably not right for mobo
>>
Reseat the cpu, if that doesn't work then pull the motherboard out of the case and start stripping parts (drives, RAM, gpu) until you find what's wrong.

If it immediately boots when you take it out of the case than it was grounding so check the mobo standoffs

Do you have another PSU to test or another PC to test that PSU on?
>>
>>53699842
100% there was really only one way with one arrow to fuck it up.

>>53699847
No fan just power light and the clear CMOS, shitting bricksasitsmy first build.
>>
>>53699511
>>53699697
>>53699796
you donedidnt readed the book did you
>>
>>53699920
I did, thats why im confused.

>>53699911
Will do now.
>>
>>53699911
not OP, I'm this guy >>53699847 and I have actually done this troubleshooting as well, eneded up nothing connected to the system (ssd, ram, gpu) and still no response from the mobo
>>
>>53700018
>nothing connected to the system (ssd, ram, gpu) and still no response from the mobo
expected
>>
>>53700109
exactly the problem actually, the final phase of the troubleshooting becomes useless :)
>>
>>53699511
I think it's your cpu connector, it looks like there's unused pins there.

>>
>>53699796
Disconnect any front panel stuff and try powering on the system using the onboard button.
>>
>>53699511
>MSI mobo having problems
Whoa you don't say

When will people fucking learn
>>
>>53699511
Did you put spacers between your mobo and case?
>>
>>53700342
I did put the standoffs in yeah.

>>53700261
Tried that

>>53700198
Yeah i just added extra cable to it to try it but still nothing but the main lights, tried it out of the case too, only thing left is to check the cpu
>>
>>53700394
Literally physically remove it from the case and take everything off and out.

Start from scratch with the mobo sitting on a box, remove the CPU, put it back in, heat sink on and both ram into the slots you're going to be using, then connect the 24 pin and CPU connectors with nothing else, no SATA or anything.
See if it boots now. Remember that some motherboards are faggots and will want the CPU cooler fan plugged in before they boot.
>>
>>53700457
Going to do this now.
>>
>>53700482
If it does work, there might be something up with the front panel connectors or the stand offs aren't doing their job.

If it doesn't, play the ram musical chairs game, and failing all that you got something DOA or did something stupid like put a connector in the wrong way, at which point you claim it was DOA anyway
>>
>>53700482
Could you send us a picture of the two lower PCIe ports please ?
I'd like to check something but can't see jack shit on your OP pic.
>>
also the ram, try one stick in slot 0 only, then the other one in slot 0

Yes, thank you.
I thought your Clear CMOS jumper was setup, but it's not the case.

I also browsed your mobo's manual.
It seems that ALL power connectors on the mobo NEED to be connected to a power source.
On your original post pic, a 12V ATX connector and a PCIe connector are left unplugged.

>pic related
>>
>>53700708
I didnt think i could connect a PCIE the middle or top incase i shorted the mobo. I thought PCIE was only for the graphics card.
>>
>>53699511
Its because your computer is cold

you can tell because its all frosty white

Put a blanket on it and read it dirty comics to warm it up
>>
>>53700778
I also have no idea why that mobo needs as muck power connectors.
I'll keep you posted if I find something.
>>
>>53700826
Thank you, just put the cpu and fan on, round 2
>>
>>53700394
can it boot with just mobo + powersupply + ram?

I guess those connectors are needed because of the fuckload of ICs on that system (I/O controller, ASMedia USB3.1 chips).

Anyway, did you RTFM ?
Pic related is literally in the Quick Start Guide, page 11 of your mobo's user manual.
Next time, read that shit, it'll save you some trouble.

>Shitheap motherboard that needs more than a 24 pin and an 8 pin CPU connector despite being skylake rather than a 5ghz 5960X with 8 ram slots
Can't blame OP for such retardation.

>>

Should i just send it back for something different?

Send the MSI back and buy a fucking asus like a normal person.
Watch as all your problems disappear overnight.

You're not connected to an uninterruptible power supply or anything? Wallsocket'll supply the full wattage? Some boards like to run everything full throttle when they boot.

I don't know what the fuck is going on...
I guess we didn't forget shit...

Could you try something ?
That physical power button might be faulty.
Turn on the power supply and short pin 6 and 8 on the Front Panel Connector (JFP1) with a screwdriver. That should trigger a system power-on.
>>
>>53701139
>0 to 1000w in the space of a second
Some boards are fucking retarded in that case.

My poor fucking power system
>>
>>53699511
Here we go, another one of these threads started by a fag who's bragging about his specs and the fact that he can afford a modular PSU. Go fuck yourself dude, nobody here cares or is even impressed.

you know mine was asus, and imo it's way too sensitive given that such slightly bent pins killed it already
