Proc is too weak. The selling point of gentoo is recompiling often, right? That's difficult on a gen 1 core i5. I run arch instead for binary packages with similar customization.

Do people on this board that use Gentoo actually take the time to compile their own kernels like you're supposed to with Gentoo, or they just use the stock one? From what I've seen, if you aren't compiling your own kernel when on Gentoo, it's basically a glorified Arch that takes an eternity to install each app because you gotta compile it first.

you have to compile a kernel with gentoo in any case and for most use cases, gentoo-sources or hardened are the best options.

Feels good man. Compiling gives a pretty good boost for speed in each app. proper CFLAGS are a must tho.
