I came off a 4s to budget grand prime. And I kid you not, it wasn't the first week, or the first day. Literally hour 1 of having it, these stop messages started to appear.
I'm just dealing with it since I can't be bothered to go to tmobile to get another one, but the entire time I had my 4s, not once did I have issues with it crashing.

Most of high quality android are pretty expensive when they first come out.
Not all android devices are and were stagefight vulnerable. Even iPhones have that same screen problem( sometimes). Apps crash even on iPhones.

If you have a current flagship smartphone, the company doesn't really matter anyway. Sony Xperia Z5, iPhone 6, and.. etc. (I don't actually keep up with other phones because i'm a Sony fanboy, also i'm not American) are all good phones. It only really matters if you buy one of those 100 dollar phones with less than 0.5GB of ram. you know, those phones that freeze up with any basic action

My Xperia Z1 worked out of the box, it receives updates, has good accessory support, and it holds its value well enough. I admit the iPhone is worth more. But i'm not planning on upgrading any time soon because the phone works perfectly as it should. I don't see myself upgrading in the next 5 years unless new phones come up with an actual new innovation that is worth upgrading for. (like when LTE 4G came out, for instance)
