An arduino. I use one and I really like it

FSF idea of acceptable single board computers are ones were you can't use the GPU. Mainline support for VC4 is already available in 4.4 and OpenGL acceleration should land in 4.5. If you want a different board for some other reason like SATA support or 1GbE, go for it. Just don't put any stake in the retarded shit FSF says. AllWinner has violated GPL multiple times btw.

The only issue is that it's lacking in space, memory, peripherals, and arduino is a microprossesor. No networking utilities either included

Glad you're so self critical

Arduino is a microcontroller with very weak processing capabilities. It's good for some purposes but if you need real power the RPi will obviously beat it.
Besides if you want to talk embedded systems an FPGA is often a better choice unless you're just making a toy.

Check the guy on ebay. He does the same thing for much less and you dont have to wait for shipping from the UK.

Beaglebone black is a good libre rpi alternative.
Idk about non proprietary but TI makes some microcontrollers for ~1 USD and up

Compared to 5 dollars for the atmel IC, I would say that this would be better. Only thing that arduino has is open source and easy acessablr copy pasta

Except PowerVR is anything but libre
