I naively decided to update my Windows 10 after about a month, and after uninstalling the 20 crapware apps and changing all my file default programs, my audio is fucked again. This happened when I first installed it too but I don't remember how I fixed it.
Basically the audio when using headphones sounds like absolute crap, sort of like an AM radio now. The sound devices says that my headphones are speakers, and trying to update the drivers does nothing.

I am doing some intense shit with 6 gb and I don't ever run out of it. Thing is if you have 64gb of ram all the apps and services will use that to their advantage.if I had 64 gb of ram my chome with 2 tabs could eat up like 3 gb of it. I bought this wifi adapter to use on an old computer I have on the living room.
It is supposed to work with 300Mbps connection speeds but I get ~20Mbps download speed and ~30Mbps upload speed, signal strenght is 80-90%.
I tried installing the drivers from the CD it came with, from windows center and also donwloading the latest drivers from their website.
WMM is enabled on my router, I wanted to enable 802.11n on the adapter priorities but it doesn't show with any of the drivers, only 802.11d appears, disabled by default.
Any ideas?

Why does my download drop from 32MB/s to 13MB/s if I go from connecting directly to my router to an unmanaged gigabit switch connected to the same router? All cabling and ports are gigabit.

I pressed fn+f7 key to disable touchpad while I was using the mouse because it was acting screwy (million clicks a second + randomly jumping everywhere), but when I pressed it again to get it back it didn't work.
Even restarted the laptop and it's still just off for some reason.

How come a lot of the time when I am seeding a torrent with only one guy leeching it (and no other seeders) the speeds will be really piss poor, like 100 kb/s when I can easily handle 20x that? So my Chuwi Hi8 just came in the mail, how do I reboot to Windows?
Okay, I'm starting to go a little insane here.
I just got my tower back up after a recent power supply fail but the internet is driving me up the wall. It was fine at first, but then the connection dropped when I moved the router over to the side.
Unplugged the ethernet cable and replugged it in, internet comes back up for 10 seconds or so then drops again.
Plug the cable into a different port, back up for 10 seconds and drops.
Switch the wire with one I know works, get 10 seconds of connection and drops again, or no connection at all.
Noticed during this that Steam is working fine but it can't connect to any webpage.
Then Steam drops and the webpages are business as usual, it doesn't reconnect.
An hour later, it suddenly decides without any touching of the wire while I'm watching it that the webpages are going to load but Steam is still lost connection.
Meanwhile, my little notebook (which I'm posting from right now) is connected without any problems at all and only drops connection when I tried resetting the router.
Right now I've no idea idea if the internet on my PC is working or not, it seems to be both and neither at the same time. I have absolutely no idea what's going on any more, anybody got any ideas here?

A bunch of similar parts are being crammed into a tiny space with no room for a good airflow path at all, and if it does have an airflow path it's incredibly small and ineffective. In a desktop, even in a tiny ITX desktop, parts have much more room to breathe, and heat is able to dissipate.

Cooling fans are loud and Laptops don't have room for large air cooled heat sinks. For this reason processors and other components designed for laptops have a higher TDP than desktops.

Zip I'm not certain of, but I sincerely doubt it is.
7z with the file list encrypted is a pretty good secure archive, so long as you put the right password on it.
But if you're on Windows it's a moot point anyway.
If you're on a real OS, you can use gpg to encrypt the data before 7z'ing it, or encrypt the archive itself (I tried this once and lost the password, not certain whether it kills the archive)

Hey everyone. I'm debating on whether to get the external or internal Seagate 8tb hdd. It will be used for preservation/digital repository purposes. (Holding large datasets, large sets of archival records, etc.) Files will regularly be added to it, and somewhat frequently read.
Which drive (internal or external) would last longer? Or is there no difference? Any recommendations for hardware configurations? Or a different method for fulfilling these needs?
Is there any benefit to clean installing Windows rather than just upgrading and deleting Windows.old?

Nothing, really. The programs >might< complain if the SSD is smaller than the partition you're cloning, but I'm not sure about that. If that happens, you should be able to just shrink the partition and it should be fine.

Try an older version of the drivers. Or uninstall drivers and let windows update download them. If that doesn't work, try the newest from the site.
My WiFi is being silly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
It either shows "limited", or "connection" but then there's no actual connection. If you hover the icon, it freezes on "identifying...".
The only way to fix this is by either restarting my laptop or reinstalling the driver, even then it doesn't always work.

I have a thinkpad x230 with Windows 10 installed. It has worked fine since installing Windows 10 when it was first released, but for the past two weeks the computer keeps shutting down randomly. Usually happens when I first start my computer then the random shutdowns happen and becomes less frequent. I have done the internal stress test and they all passed the test. I don't know what's going on. Any thinkpad x230 users experienced this? Also, when I decide to finally shutdown the computer, the power button keeps blinking or everything turns off except for the wifi.
