jesus christ fuck whatcd.
I only got in there to get invites to other sites, but I can't do it until I upload 25 GB, which is literally impossible because I'm not a music autist and only have a handful of CDs and they are all already there, except for 2 that I already uploaded.
what's actually annoying is the fact that there are people paying to get a seedbox in order to get upload cred on a site that is supposed to be used to get stuff for free.
why the fuck do they have seedboxes? it only fucks up the rest like me, everything I snatch I don't upload because there's a seedbox faggot uploading at 999999999kbps, even my very own torrents, once they get snatched I can forget about getting upload cred from them.

not only that but the tracker's been down twice since I joined and it was only 2 weeks ago.

fuck this shit
I just wanted to get into a tv-movie tracker.

thanks for reading my blog lads, I love you.

Well since each tracker has their own group of internal uploaders its safe to say there's no real winner since it's all pretty good

From reddit:

We'll be recruiting from AHD, BIB, BTN, KG, HDBits, SciHD, WCD. Potentially CG, GGn, AB, and TehC later on as well, though those are subject to change.
As far as the class requirements? That depends on the recruiter. We set the bare minimum at PU+ but each recruiter can tweak the requirements as they see fit. There are likely to be minimum time requirements as well.
On what.cd we're going to start with elite+, then once the original rush is over lower it to PU+. That's mostly because if I wake up to 100 new people to vet every morning I'm going to cry.

Doesn't matter; take the fucking interview. If you make PU on what it will get you into 80% of all the trackers you could ever want. If you want to get into private trackers going through what.cd is THE (read: THE, singular) best way to start. It doesn't matter if you don't like music; if you want to get into trackers you need to get on what.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.
>>
When's bB recruitment from reddit?
>>
>>51455871
In a sense, the Beatles are emblematic of the status of rock criticism as a whole: too much attention paid to commercial phenomena (be it grunge or U2) and too little to the merits of real musicians. If somebody composes the most divine music but no major label picks him up and sells him around the world, a lot of rock critics will ignore him. If a major label picks up a musician who is as stereotyped as can be but launches her or him worldwide, your average critic will waste rivers of ink on her or him. This is the sad status of rock criticism: rock critics are basically publicists working for major labels, distributors and record stores. They simply highlight what product the music business wants to make money from.

Hopefully, one not-too-distant day, there will be a clear demarcation between a great musician like Tim Buckley, who never sold much, and commercial products like the Beatles. At such a time, rock critics will study their rock history and understand which artists accomplished which musical feat, and which simply exploited it commercially.

Beatles' "Aryan" music removed any trace of black music from rock and roll. It replaced syncopated African rhythm with linear Western melody, and lusty negro attitudes with cute white-kid smiles.
>>
>>51455859

Source? I can't access their Twitter or anything
>>
Who /anxious/ for the PTP recruitment here?
>>
>>51455890
Contemporary musicians never spoke highly of the Beatles, and for good reason. They could never figure out why the Beatles' songs should be regarded more highly than their own. They knew that the Beatles were simply lucky to become a folk phenomenon (thanks to "Beatlemania", which had nothing to do with their musical merits). That phenomenon kept alive interest in their (mediocre) musical endeavours to this day. Nothing else grants the Beatles more attention than, say, the Kinks or the Rolling Stones. There was nothing intrinsically better in the Beatles' music. Ray Davies of the Kinks was certainly a far better songwriter than Lennon & McCartney. The Stones were certainly much more skilled musicians than the 'Fab Four'. And Pete Townshend was a far more accomplished composer, capable of entire operas such as "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia"; not to mention the far greater British musicians who followed them in subsequent decades or the US musicians themselves who initially spearheaded what the Beatles merely later repackaged to the masses.

The Beatles sold a lot of records not because they were the greatest musicians but simply because their music was easy to sell to the masses: it had no difficult content, it had no technical innovations, it had no creative depth. They wrote a bunch of catchy 3-minute ditties and they were photogenic. If somebody had not invented "Beatlemania" in 1963, you would not have wasted five minutes of your time reading these pages about such a trivial band.

hey, people at my uni don't even know how to torrent so..

Can anyone on PTP, or perhaps a niche tracker (KG), check if they have a copy of "Vejska"?
>>
>>51455922
Private != Secret
While i would prefer them to be "muh sekrit klub" you can't deny the fact that if they were actually secret the userbase would be so small these PTs would be worthless
>>
>>51455988
That's not true, they could refrain from mentioning anywhere but advertise on other private tracker invite forums

>>
>>51456021
true, but not on kg, so a reseed request would probably do it
>>
>>51456000
And those other private trackers would also be secret, limiting the userbase of all these PTs to the group of people that are on at least 1 of them
Like i said, would be very small, there needs to be AT LEAST one non-secret PT in order for this idea to work

Is HDB down for anyone else? I'm still seeding some torrents but others have various errors.

Can't connect to the site at all.

Nothing, I still have 7 tokens left, and 0.5TB of buffer.

Apparently GazelleGames started DDOSing them in retaliation for them getting DDOSed

>>
>>51456196
What does HDBits has to do with GazelleGames?
>>
>>51456215
Apparently someone came on IRC and fingered them as the culprits behind the DDOS attack, and GGn believed them.
>>
>>51456190
I have 7 FL tokens as well (are you me?) but my buffer is around only 0.05TB
>>
>>51456196
Now this is bullshit
The one attacking GGn isn't part of a tracker, the iPT theory was already thrown out days ago
>>
>>51456204
Ok but can you just tell me? I don't feel like getting on IRC just to ask one question. And since I don't know my IRC key for HDB I can't ask there either.
>>
>>51456234
it's down.
>>
This fucking XXSEC group that's changing their name all the time is pissing me off.
>>
>>51456221
Sauce. Because that sounds made up. GGn recruits on HDB so their staff know each other. They would never believe something so stupid without going and asking.
>>
>>51456228
The DDOS attack correlated with the release of TWO major videogames, so it is probably someone connected to ActiVision or Bethesda Softworks.
>>
>>51455401
Quite a lot of those Elites are already members on PTP.

>>
I'm on BCG's IRC on #invites, should I ask someone for an invite?
>>
>>51456256
Why would they even bother? GazelleGames only represents a miniscule fraction of the people who will pirate it, and they all have other backup options available
>>
>>51456277
It's more likely some random script kiddy that thought it would be funny to annoy people right when some major stuff got released.
>>
>>51456277
How would they know it is only a fraction if they aren't on the tracker?
>>
>>51456256
Why the fuck would they target GGn of all places? Even the top games rarely get over 1000 snatches on GGn. They'd be better off targetting some public tracker where you get hundred thousand snatches.
>>
>>51455371
>SciHD not BigBoys
>>
>>51456309
SciHD has some truly autistic users. Makes sense to recruit from there.
>>
>>51456256
An easy way to back this up with evidence would be if FO4 was being taken down on public trackers. It seems like all of the ones on kat and tpb have been uploaded within the past two weeks though. At the very least kat responds to DMCA and they would be taken down very quickly.

I'm not so sure bethesda would go after GGn/BCG when both TPB/KAT have more seeders than the total users of GGn/BCG combined.
>>
>>51456295
How would they know FO4 is on GGn if they're not on the tracker?

If they know FO4 is there then at the very least they must also know how big GGn is. You can look up their current user count on a bunch of those torrent invite sites.
>>
Now that recruiting has reopened for PTP, is there an invite thread somewhere on what.cd? Also what the fuck is up with GGn?
>>
>>51456355
Re-opening in a couple of days' time.
>>
>>51456355
GGn is kill. I just got into BCG instead. It seems like it's a bit harder than GGn to get buffer but at least they seem to be more functional than GGn.
>>
>>51456377
>It seems like it's a bit harder than GGn to get buffer
Buffer is irrelevant because of seed points. Everything gets to 1:1 automatically after a certain amount of time.
>>
>>51456361
Ah, ok. Thanks for that info.

>>51456377
I'm on both thankfully, and got a ton of upload on BCG when Fallout 4 came out.
>>
>>51456377
did you actually ask for an invite in their channel? kek
>>
>>51455371
>AHD, BIB, BTN, KG, HDBits, SciHD, WCD

There we have it. Final proof of the greatest trackers on the planet.

Still surprised about no hon3yHD or desi.cd though.
>>
>>51456399
Yeah I didn't read their rules carefully. It seems you just need to seed every torrent till it gets to a ratio of 0.8 through uploading or through seed points. Easier than I expected.

>>51456411
Nope. I got it through a guy who offered BCG invites on WCD.
>>
Why do so many people want to get into PTP and BTN? They are shit trackers
>>
>>51456449
Yeah, for all purposes it's essentially ratioless as long as you leave everything in your client for a while. You can sometimes get into trouble early on if you download too much at once, but you'll bail yourself out when the seed points kick in, and that seems to be based on overall download/snatches so it stops happening once you've used the site a good bit.
>>
>>51456450
Let me give you a freebie and concede that PTP is kind of shit because of its cancerous community and due to the fact that all of its good content comes from every other movie tracker.

But explain to me how there's a better tracker for TV than BTN? If you say HDB then you have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>51456450
Because memes
>>
>>51456450
You sound like your What.CD account turned 6 months old today and you just missed a BTN invite.
>>
>>51456450
WCD, BTN, PTP are the holy trinity. All three have arguably the biggest library for their respective content.
>>
>>51456477
Theres a bunch of /tv/ posters on there which probably explains it
>>
>>51456495
What about Bibliotik?
>>
>>51456449
As long as you seed, it's pretty much ratioless. To think people threw such a massive bitchfit when they first implemented it.

>>51456450
Because muh trinity. But seriously BTN has shit that's only on there for some series. Maybe PTP does too, but movies are much easier to find than tv.
>>
>>51456477
>almost every TV series imaginable
>don't have to worry about buffer because ratioless
>comfy as fuck

BTN is honestly the most GOAT tracker ever.
>>
>>51456500

>>
>>51456501
>>51456473
I'm glad I'm in BCG now. I'm pretty much done with GGn at this point. The tracker/site seems to go down almost every other week.
>>
>>51456532
I'm asking for an invite in #invites on their IRC but no one is answering :/
Should I wait or try another time?
>>
>>51456500
Bibliotik is nowhere near as comprehensive as WCD/BTN/PTP. It's good but there are some shit I can find on MAM that aren't on bib because muh retail quality.
>>
>>51456518
I do for college
>>
>>51456500
bibliotik has the best quality, but MAM has more content.
>>
>>51456544
I'm pretty sure no one's going to give you an invite. You have to get an invite through some user who offers it in an invite forum of some private tracker.
>>
It always amazes me how popular capeshit is.

>>
>>51456549
I can't find half the college textbooks I need on bib. Shit sucks. I have an easier time just using google to look for pdfs of books I want than finding it on bib.

bib's quality requirements make for a better tracker at times but it also cuts down on the content it has because not many people will spend $150+ to get a retail quality book to upload on bib.

But can you find those textbooks on MAM or what? For underclassmen undergrad it's usually pretty good. Of course high level/niche texts are harder to find but that's not really bibliotiks fault. Some of them aren't even in ebook form.
>>
>>51456628

Usually when I can't find something on Bib I just go to #bookz...
>>
>>51456635
I can find some of them on MAM.

But yeah general undergrad books like Calculus or Diff Eq. are pretty easy to find on bib but the more specialized books for my major are almost impossible to find.
>>
>>51456651
Shit, and nowadays even if it does its useless because you need the code that comes with it to access the online materials.
>>
Just a as a heads up, Avistaz.to has open registration atm if you were looking for asian stuff.
>>
>>51456659
#bookz is still a very good resource.
>>
>>51456673
In my experience it's rare for the online materials to actually be necessary to do the course. (In part I assume because professors know it's all a scam and don't want to fuck you over if you want to rent or buy a used textbook.)
>>
>>51456673
>online materials.

Mostly their just a meaningless cd.

This.

Most good schools will have the faculty define the curriculum for intro classes and then find a textbook that fits it best.

If its the other way around and your professor just centers the class around a textbook then your school is shit.
>>
>>51456256
>The DDOS attack correlated with the release of TWO major videogames, so it is probably someone connected to ActiVision or Bethesda Softworks.

Or a competing tracker.

It's either IPT or another tracker we haven't heard of yet that needs GGn to die so they can get their userbase.

Probably, but they might go 6 months.

You get all AHD encodes at 75% freeleech than you can cross seed to PTP so you can download other movies with your buffer.

So sort of.
